  1. I really like the idea of boarding school stories but don't think I read them much or have read many. Maybe in 2019 I'll remedy this! Happy Top Ten Tuesday. :)

    1. I agree- something about those schools :)

  5. Many of these are buzz words in the blurb that would make me pick up a book too, especially Off the Grid (and in cold climes) as well as boarding schools. Time travel would make me take a second look too, though they can be hit or miss.

  6. Oh yes lost worlds. That is a great one! I just haven't read that many good ones ._. And cloning is such an interesting topic to explore.

    1. It's hard to find a really good lost world type of story, I think?

  7. Nice list! Funny, but I just recently snagged a copy of Dark Matter at a Little Free Library. I've yet to read it.

    1. I can just keep reading those and reading 'em...

  10. I love everything on this list, but I will say, except for dystopias. I find them so hard to get into these days.

  11. Great list! Considering I was obsessed with dinosaurs when I was younger, I need to read more dinosaur books. I love a boarding school setting, too - it's always fun to see what kids will get up to when their parents aren't around.

    1. I hadn't read a dinosaur book in AGES, but extinction Trials has me excited about them all again!

  12. Ooh great topic picks!! These all sound like fun ones! I read within these areas myself and a few are even on my TBR pile!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  13. Ooh I do love a good plot twist! I also like boarding school books & a good dystopia though I started to find them all a bit samey, so I haven't read much of that genre in a while.

    1. Plot twists are the best. And a good boarding school WITH plot twists is one of my favorite reads!

  14. There are so many graphic novels I've been tempted to pick up just because the art style is so lovely!

    1. Same! Even some in other languages- I actually bought a French comic on ComiXology the other day and even though I couldn't read it, I could suss out most of it- and the art!

  15. OMG I adore parallel universes and time travel! They're two of my favourite things. If you've got any good recommendations then I would love some :)

    1. Parallel universes are the BEST! My top recommendation (off the top of my head) is Dark Matter- that story was a TRIP!

      Delete
  16. Time travel ad parallel universes for sure and love YA with a twist!

  17. Some great reasons here. I am curious about dinosaur books and cloning makes me realize how much I miss Orphan Black. So it finally dawned on me that the girl from The Farm in Riverdale was on Orphan Black for several years the other night.

    ReplyDelete
  18. All great reasons to pick up a book for sure! I think more than anything now, I just want something fun and unique as well!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Great list! I like time travel too! I didn't do TTT this week. I couldn't think of anything. I am not as creative as you :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nice list! I like the idea of lost worlds and/or dinosaurs as well. I also enjoy a good YA book. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dystopian and robots, yes to both of those! I literally never get tired of either one😁

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dinosaurs were on my list, too. It's so cool to see how various authors imagine them.

  23. Dang it, I see more books to add to my TBR...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Alternate/parallel universes is my number one favourite thing in the book world! Especially if there are philosophical questions thrown in there.

Anyway, my list is a little differen this week: https://dinaratengri.com/

  25. I liked your take on the question. I nodded my head to almost all your choices.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Totally with you on boarding schools and end-of-the-world novels. And I'm always drawn to dinosaur books and Lost World stories, too. Great list!

    ReplyDelete
  27. You picked some great topics. I love cloning especially in movies. Mine would be vampires, shifters and romance. lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. Parallel dimensions is only something I've explored in shows. I need to hunt down some novels that deal with the concept. Great list!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love dystopian and off-the-grid books, too! The Rockton series is a great example of the latter. It's one of my favorites in the genre.

    Happy TTT!

  30. I used to be a sucker for boarding schools but not so much anymore. Time travel, though, I always say I won't read another and then I see a really good stroyline and I'm like 'fine, twist my arm why don't you'.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Boarding school Greg? really? is there some nostalgia ...or envy? LOL Sophie @bewareofthereader

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like Time Travel and Dystopians too. Have you ever read Timeline by Michael Crichton? I loved that book. Maybe it's due for a reread, because I've thought about it a couple of times in the last year.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wonder if my love for boarding schools started with The Facts of Life? I love the setting for books, TV, and movies.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Some of these appeal to me too, but not across the board. I mean, I love the boarding-school aspect of the Harry Potter books, but it doesn't appeal to me much in contemporary YA (not that I read much contemporary YA anyway!) Maybe that's because I was a day student at a boarding school, and grew up on its campus?

Anyway, time travel is another that appeals to me. And occasionally space opera.

    Fun list!

    ReplyDelete
  35. YES to end-of-the-world stories - love them in books and movies! Time travel is also something I love.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like ALL THESE THINGS. And I think I have decided that when I get paid this week I am finally just going to suck it up and treat myself to the damn After the Lights Go Out. Did you start it? BUt whatever I love all the other ones I have read on your list, which of course is most of them!

    ReplyDelete
  37. You picked some of my favorites here. I love books with time travel and stories that take place off the grid are great. Wonderful list, Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dinosaurs! I never really got over my dinosaur phase...

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love how you did this and what kinds of stories make you pick it up! I didn't think of it that way!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I really want to know how I'm missing out on the whole dinosaur reading thing. I need to get on that ! lol

  41. It's so funny - we have zero overlapping interests! In fact I go out of my way to avoid time travel and cloning. It just hurts my head! I do want to read more graphic novels. I love all the art I see and there's a few I've seen around that I really want to try.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Great list! Lots of great reads listed here too.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Time travel is one that I usually enjoy. Parallel dimensions always sound interesting but I always assume that I'm going to find them too confusing. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  44. Time travel made my list this week too. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes to cloning and to apocalypse stories.
    Great list!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I want to read almost all of these. Yes to cloning and YA's with a Twist! =)

    Mary

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yes to lost worlds and dinosaurs! You might enjoy the Primordia trilogy!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Space Operas and AIs for the win! Thanks for sharing your list. 👍✨

    ReplyDelete
  49. Awesome picks! Many of these topics are why I pick up books as well!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Cloning, AI, time travel and robots are all things which intrigue me as well. Can you tell I love a good sci-fi book? :D I love your choices and that you featured books for them as well.
