This week has been funny weather- wise. It started out feeling like spring big time, then it cooled off again and we even had a dusting of snow one morning. But the sun is out as I write this and it's looking like spring, even if it's only 52 right now. Sun makes all the difference! And in my reading life I'm happy to report that my last three books have all been awesome. Killing November was amazing.

Tales From Northern Michigan #3 will be up on Monday. This week I'll be looking at Sleeping Bear Dunes. Also sign ups for the Bookish Games- Nevernight edition- are live on Wed. April 17th. And... I've been thinking of joining the SciFi and Fantasy Book Club over on Goodreads, especially for the Buddy Reads. Is anyone doing those?

This past week I reviewed Two Can Keep A Secret and a couple of graphic novels- The Mermaid Project #5 and Golden City Vol. 1.

  1. OMG yes, the Star Wars 9 title and teaser! That laugh at the end and the confirmation of the return of Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine? I don't know what to think about that yet, still processing!!!

  6. The weather here is dry and sunny but there is a bone chilling wind that is stopping me getting outside to do more varnishing!

  7. Love the Star Wars teaser! I wish they'd just leave it at that but you know there are going to be more, longer trailers coming.

  8. I would love it if it snowed a day or two here in Brazil. The sun is great but with how hot it's gotten these past few years a reprieve here and there would be appreciated! Glad you enjoyed Killing November. Awesome images as always :)

  12. Our weather is being like that too. We had some light flurries Thursday night but nothing stuck. I am from Minnesota, and when Mom left this morning to come visit Eleanor and I, she left home with eight inches of snow still on the ground.

  14. We've had some weird weather too. It's been between 60-80 for 2 weeks. Never know what it will be and its been windy as all get out too.

    1. I'd like to be closer to 80 but not TOO close lol. Course I'll be complaining about heat soon haha.

  15. It was like 80 here today. May I please have spring back. The high is predicted to be 65, and I say - yes, please. I would have cried if we got any snow though, so way to hang in there. *high five* So glad I am not the only one, who enjoyed Killing November, which I feel the publisher did a lackluster job of pimping, because I have seen like NOBODY talking about it, and I think they should be.

    1. Yes I need a few weeks (a good month or so) of just SPRING weather. And I think you're right about November- I see NO ONE talking about it and I'm like ?????

  16. It sounds like you have had crazy weather! I am glad that it looks like spring is here to stay in the St. Louis area (at least for now). Yay for the awesome reads! I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  17. Amazing pictures, as always! I am so excited for the Sleeping Bear Dunes post. One of my favorite memories (and maybe one of the only family vacations where we didn't want to kill each other?) was when we went to Lake Michigan and then Chicago. Also it was VERY warm here all week so I will switch. I am SO EXCITED for Nevernight Games even if we don't bother reading the book hah. I am seriously thinking of starting it after Gone World? Just like, the first chapter or two, to see if I care? Ugh talk me out of it, okay?

    1. Thanks. Sleeping Bear is one of my favorite places- so much beauty there. And yes I'm glad it's warm SOMEWHERE. And okay- don't do it! Seriously, I mean if u want to... but I'm totally skipping it.

  18. The Seok Min Eo image is brilliant! I'd love to live in the smaller building on the right. Ha ha. 🌆

The space ambient had a little funkiness to it here and there. 👍✨

Anything over 50 degrees is spring temps to me, hell, anything over 45 is spring. 😆

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

I really enjoyed Two Can Keep a Secret. Listened to an audio version.

  22. Mother Nature can't quite decide if it's spring yet here, either, Greg. We have fairly warm weather in the afternoons, but we had one day a little over a week ago when we got more snow than we've had all winter! And I've had to scrape ice off my car more than once in the morning before going to work...
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading!

  23. Weather is out to confuse everyone. It's been so miserable where I am and now I'm sat blogging and the sun is shining through the window. Why is it nice when I'm telling myself to sit inside and work? All I've seen anyone talk about is the Star Wars teaser and I've still not watched it. I mean, I've still not watched the last Star Wars film, I don't even have an excuse for why I haven't gotten to watching it. Maybe I should have a movie marathon for easter.

Hope you have a good week and hopefully you'll read even more good books this week.

    1. Well, I didn't like the last Star Wars film so I don't think you missed much, but that may be an unpopular opinion haha! Anbd yet sure enough they release a trailer and I go into fanboy mode, so... I hear you on weather too, it always seems like it's nice out when I have INSIDE stuff to do, and then when I want to g out... freezing. We got snow TODAY.

  25. That new Star Wars teaser is awesome and had my emotions all over the place. I was thrilled to see Lando piloting the Falcon, I cried when I saw Carrie Fisher, and then OMG that evil laugh at the end after the 'no one is ever really gone' line! Was that Palpatine?

  28. The books I have read this week have been amazing also; I'm glad to hear the same for you.

Oh I love Star Wars. Great to see the trailer. Daisy Ridley is lovely. It's nice to have a female warrior. I really need to change the name of my blog to Women with Weapons/Men without Shirts. lol

I can't seem to do buddy reads worth a darn. I always have ARC commitments and mood reads and library books coming due.

    Have another great reading week!

Sorry to hear you're still getting snow in mid April. Fingers crossed winter will finally realise it's outstayed its welcome soom!

  34. I can relate to the weather craziness---it's snowing here today. A LOT! Sigh. Lots of buzz about the Star Wars movie. I still haven't seen all of the current movies, so I don't get all that excited about it. But one of these days I definitely want to watch them.

  35. I am in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Book Club! I have done a few buddy reads, but there are also 2 group reads (decided by polls) every month -- 1 fantasy book and 1 SF book. I don't do them on time very often but I have read a bunch of past group reads. (Most of them have old threads where you can add comments). There is a challenge for that, to see how many you can read in a year (either that months group reads or past ones).

  36. Sunshine DOES make a difference! We've been outside as much as possible since the weather was nice. We've started having a lot of rain though, which limits what we can do outdoors. Luckily, we have a lot of board games, haha. Yes! I liked the new Star Wars trailer, and was that Lando I saw towards the end?

  37. Spring is taking her time arriving in many places around the country it would seem. I am glad you got some sunshine today. I am also glad your reading has been awesome lately! I am hoping to devote time to review writing this week if I can--and reading. I need to find a book I can sink my teeth into that I don't want to let go. I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  38. How abaout that surprise snow storm today?? Thankfully it will leave us quickly with the warm temps arriving.

  40. Totally agree with you about the sun, as I sit here it is just going down behind my back, but it has been warming the house all day. Glad you have had some great reads.

  41. I can't believe it's still snowing in some places! I love the idea of all the book club groups on GR, but I am notoriously bad at actually joining in any discussion, and my mood reading gets in the way of reading books at specific times :-/

    ReplyDelete
  42. What are the Bookish Games? I googled but didn’t find anything specific. I lurk in a few groups on goodreads, but my taste is more urban fantasy than epic fantasy.

    Have a great reading week

  47. I am dying at that Fast Times clip because I was Googling that *exact same scene* just a matter of days ago because my husband and I were trying to remember Spicoli’s line about the tasty waves. (Yes, one of our deep and meaningful conversations. LOL) Love the Nap Time pic of the little badger (?) reading.

  48. Ugh snow! Well, maybe just in time for GoT? Lol.

I love that badger illustration - but I love badgers. Especially English ones.

I missed a Michigan post! I am going to have to go back and find it, and read the new one.

    Have a great week!

  50. We had really cold last week, almost freezing again, and the day after it had been almost 80 degrees. I always love your artwork that you find, and the pulp covers! Hope you have a great week!

  51. I love when I get on a reading roll! I love when every book I pick up is amazing. We have a lot of Disney buzz going on around here too! And we will be in Disney World right after the new Star Wars land opens so I have a feeling that by around August or September we will be all Star Wars all the time! I hope you're having a great week!
