Tagged: Sunshine Blogger Award

I was tagged by JJ at This Dark Material for the Sunshine Blogger Award (thanks JJ!!) and these are always fun, plus the questions this time are awesome, so here we go.

Rules

1) Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog

2) Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you

3) Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and and write them 11 new questions

4) List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post

JJ's questions

1) You have the opportunity to ask your favorite author one question, and the have to tell the truth. Which author do you choose and what do you ask them?

I would ask George RR Martin if Sam has the Horn of Winter. And if so is it going to bring down the Wall? Wait that's two questions! Oh and where is Ben Stark? Okay that's three, but if we drink enough maybe he'd answer all three??

2) What is one book you hid from your parents when you were younger?

I don't know if I ever had to hide a book? They didn't monitor my reading in terms of what I selected, not that I picked bad stuff- it was mostly fantasy- but maybe they would have looked askance at some of my roleplaying game rulebooks?

3) If you could try the cuisine of any fictional world, which one would you choose?

I'm curious what the food is like at Cair Paravel.

4) Who is your favorite fictional detective?

Hmm... I'll go with Anarchy Jones from The Country Club Murders.

The Deep End (The Country Club Murders #1)

5) Which Winnie the Pooh character are you most similar too?

Ooh so I asked people I know and they all said Pooh Bear. So yeah... I guess that's it. Someone said I'm like a happy, silly bear so okay! And honey.

6) What accessories do you need when you read (drink, blanket, music, etc)?

Tea/ wine occasionally. Music once in a while (usually background ambient stuff).

7) What is one book you read just because you liked the cover?

The Shark Club.

The Shark Club

8) Which fictional character do you wish would write a memoir?

Ned Stark? Gandalf?

9) What is your favorite animated movie NOT made by Disney?

My first was The Incredibles. But I'm also partial to Finding Nemo and Tangled. But... my favorite would be a toss up between The Secret of NIMH and Monsters vs. Aliens.

10) Pencil or pen?

Pen

11) Polka dots or stripes?

Stripes!

My Questions

1) Do you have a favorite bookstore and if so which one is it?

2) Do you have a favorite artist?

3) Name the best movie you've seen this year

4) What is your favorite animated movie (I liked this question of JJ's)?

5) Name a movie that made you cry/ affected you emotionally as a child

6) Off world colonies have been established- would you start a new life on another world or stay on Earth?

7) A future you comes back and says the only way to stop an apocalypse is for you to take someone out. Would you do that?

8) Favorite music?

9) Snoopy or Winnie the Pooh

10) Artificial intelligence has been developed to the point where you can have self- aware robot helpers. You can customize yours to be just a tool (like a toaster) or it can self- aware/ possibly have feelings. Which setting do you pick?

11) Pizza! What toppings do you get?

Liebster Award April 2018

I was tagged by Anna at Adventures of a Booknerd for the Liebster award (thanks Anna!!!) and her questions were awesome so I knew I had to do this one.

The Rules:

1) Answer eleven questions that you've been asked

2) Nominate eleven other bloggers

3) Ask your nominees eleven questions

4) Let them know you nominated them

Anna's questions:

1) Would you rather be bitten and transformed into a vampire or werewolf? I would say werewolf all the way. They can still be human and undeath wouldn't be very fun. Plus wolves are cool and maybe there'd even be a fun pack to join? And if not, lone wolfing is fine too!

2) Would you rather have angel or fairy wings? I'm gonna say angel wings, because I'm assuming they would be stronger or more durable. Fairy wings sound very gossamer-like, fragile. And angels are kinda badass.

3) If you could meet any book character, who would you meet and why?

Maybe Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings.

4) If you could change one thing about your blog, what would you change and why?

I would definitely update my design and make it a little more modern.

5) What is one thing you wish you knew before you started blogging?

How time consuming it would be, although I wouldn't change a thing!

6) If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, which album would you choose and why

This is tough. Right now maybe something by Dorothy since I'm loving their stuff. Or Balligomingo's first album or Yes' 90125.

7) If you could be friends with one author, who would you be friends with and why?

Probably George RR Martin.

8) What are your three favorite literary characters?

I don't know that I have favorite literary characters as such, but here's a stab.

Madeline from Big Little Lies.

Winnie the Pooh

Captain Nemo- maybe just because I want to cruise under the sea in the Nautilus!

9) What are your three favorite quotes?

"Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?"
"That is the only time a man cab be brave,' his father told him."

"In the last days of the last moonphase of autumn a wind blew from the northern ranges through the dying forests of Askatevar, a cold wind that smelled of smoke and snow."

"Everyone was drunk. It was actually a great night until it all went to shit."

10) If you could shape shift into any animal, which animal would you choose?

Probably a cat.

11) If you could have any blogger guest post on your blog, who would you choose and why?

Oh my gosh I have no idea! Too many to name... although I'd love to have anyone who is interested!

My Questions:

1) Coffee or tea?

2) Name an historical era you'd go back to, if you could go back in time

3) Ultimate vacation spot

4) Which country would you most like to read about as a plot setting?

5) Name your favorite animal in a story

6) If you could only save three books, which would they be?

7) Victorian era or the Renaissance?

8) Do you believe in afterlife?

9) If you could have only one social media account, which would you pick?

10) Favorite relationship in a book

I nominate:

I don't know who likes to do these anymore, so I'll just nom some bloggers who I enjoy interacting with. Feel free to disregard. And if YOU want to do it, go ahead- I could list bloggers all day and still not get everyone.

Sunday Post #243

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

A much warmer week, we actually got into the 70's once or twice! Summer is here- kinda. So this week was pretty good- The 100 is back and the premiere was pretty awesome. It's been a long time since S4. I've been watching a lot of Netflix- Orbiter 9 was good and so was The Chalet. I made it through a couple of books this week too.

This week Movies That Suck looked at Mean Girls, a movie that definitely did not suck, I think we can mostly agree. This week will be Desperately Seeking Susan and that was a fun watch. Because 80's Madonna. And Kong: Skull Island is upcoming as well.

Last week I reviewed The Oracle Queen (and can I just say I need the next book in that series?) along with the aforementioned mini- reviews and also posted a New Years tag (yes in April- who says I'm behind??). Thanks to Anna at Adventures With a Book Nerd for that. I have a few other tag posts so hopefully I can get caught up.
