Sunday Post #242

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

It's been another cool week, with temps barely edging into the 50's and most of the week colder than that. Um, where is spring?? It's not funny anymore. Anyway this week it's supposed to be mostly 50's, so I guess... that's something? *grumble* The reading was better than the weather, luckily for me. Oh and if you're interested I was interviewed over at Jenn and Ash's awesome blog JennReneeReads. You can find the post here. Thanks you guys!!!

My Movies That Suck post this past week was The Mist. I'm taking suggestions by the way, so if you have a movie you'd like to see let me know? You know, even if they don't suck. The next installment, by the way, is going to be Mean Girls. And this one was a suggestion (thanks Shannon!!) That'll be on Thursday.

I'll also be reviewing The Oracle Queen this week and on Monday will have some mini- reviews, including a movie on Netflix- Orbiter 9. Hope everyone has an awesome week!

  1. Lame on those still-too-cool temps. Spring has definitely not sprung in your area. Great interview at JennReneeReads! I didn't realize that you'd been blogging for 5+ years. Go you! Mean Girls is such a classic - and yet I only sat and watched the entire movie not too long ago. I was missing out! Can't wait for your review. :)

  2. I hope spring will truly come in your part of the world now, Greg. This past winter has just been way too long. And Mother Nature knows we need some sun, right?
I look forward to your movies that suck post!

  4. Haha, Mean Girls is definitely a movie that doesn't suck, but there's so much to snark on, and it's so quotable!

    1. It is, I had a blast watching (and writing about) it!!

  5. Spring is slowly making it's way to Iowa too. When I think of bad movies I think of Gigli with Ben Affleck!

  6. I'm excited to hear your take on Mean Girls, a movie I really like but it definitely has some "suck" moments in it. Hoping for warmer temps in your neck of the woods😁🌞🌞

  7. Ahhh, love the Trek women! Have a good week.

  8. "It's not funny anymore" LOL I am with you. My heat is back on today. smh

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would love some cooler temps here. It's been in the 80's and it sucks. I'm going to complain all summer. Yes, I am. lol

    1. Ha I do that too! I wait for the heat and then I bitch about it all summer!

  10. April really has seemed pretty bi-polar this year...Last week I wore shorts, it snowed last night...Wish it would just make up it's mind.

Have a wonderful weekend. - Katie

    1. Yes! Today is like the first day when you could really get away with shorts- I'm hoping this next week is better!

  11. Mean Girls is definitely NOT a movie that sucks! It is hilarious and a movie so quotable that my friends and I can have whole conversations only using lines from it. It's so great, and not even in a "so bad it is good" way. It's just GOOD!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No it actually was good. I had to give it the treatment anyway though :) Very quotable! And I love what Tina Fey did there.

  12. I'm curious what you thought of Orbiter 9. I just watched it. Have you seen Bright or Europa Report yet?

    1. Orbiter 9 was pretty good. A great surprise and definitely worth watching. I have not seen Bright or europa Report- are they good???

  13. I have been lamenting about the weather too much lately. My fear is that we will get no spring. --sigh-- How awesome that you were interviewed! Mean Girls, a movie that sucked!! I love that movie. I am dying to see the musical too (and not just because my daughter's friend is in it).

    ReplyDelete

    1. Same, I hope we don't just go to the hot weather! And Mean Girls actually turned out pretty good!

  14. It has been snowing here- there were even school delays this week, I don't understand! But I think it's supposed to warm up here, so hopefully there too!

Mean Girls! I am so excited for this. Especially because all the "bad" parts are like, supposed to be that way, but it is still excellent for snarkability even though it's a great movie. The Oracle Queen yay! My Queens of Fennbirn came but it is the US version and I specifically ordered the UK version so I may send it back idk, depends on if laziness or pickiness wins out.

The interview was so nice, too- and thanks so much for mentioning my blog too!! That is a really nice feature, it must seem so fancy to be interviewed! :D

    1. Snow?? Ack although we had snow day the week before last. And yes Mean Girls was quite good- I'm having this problem where my "suck" movies don't actually suck? Or some of them anyways.

We need to talk once you've read Queens of Fennbirn, since... new stuff. And you're welcome!

  15. Oooo, I love the cover of that new Kendare Blake book! It's a novella? Happy reading! Also congrats on the interview!

  19. Yeah, seriously, where is spring? My kid's school had their Spring Fling on Friday which was more like Freeze Fling. We even had a cold weather alert last night and it's the second half of April already, come on! Anyway, I'm excited to see what you thought of Before Mars. And Mean Girls was fun, can't wait to read your comments, haha!

  22. I thought Mean Girls was a great movie. Clueless might be a movie pick for you, I thought it was great and over the top and still stands up after several years. Man, some of those shots for Star Trek look like the Huntington Gardens in San Marino, CA! I wonder if the pictures were taken there. :)

    1. I liked it too! Cracked me up a few times... and Tina Fey is priceless. And thanks- -I've never seen Clueless so maybe I need to take a look! And ooh that wouldn't surprise me I'm not sure where those shots were taken but it's certainly possible!

  30. Give me all that cool weather, please! I can't wait to hear what you think of Orbiter 9! It's an oldie but goodie, but Mean Girls was one of my fave movies back in the day. 35. Those star trek pics remind me of the movie Biodome! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Mean Girls. Its such a quoted movie, but watching in now, years later, you realize how bad it is!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I never saw any sign of the heatwave the UK was meant to be having but the temperatures have at least went about baltic which is something.

    ReplyDelete
  37. That sucks that your temps are still so low, I think Mother Nature has gone to the darkside! :)

For a movie that sucked: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes :) It's so bad. Or The Stuff...lol. These are horror movies I remember watching when I was younger and they are really fun cause they are so stupid. :)

Have a great week and happy reading!

  38. I am curious about your new arrivals. Yes, I am over this weather. We had snow, bitter cold winds, a day when temps reached 69 and then freezing again. The poor Royals want to play outside and cannot understand what is happening. LOL Our week will be in the 50s too, with some rain and lows near freezing.

  42. I love those Trek pics! Also, as an Illinoisian, I completely agree about the weather. Right now I'm convinced it's a conspiracy to make me be utterly wrong on clothing choices. Every day what I am wearing is inappropriate for the weather. I'm ready for some consistency.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Loooove that you featured a lot of cosplay this week! It still amazes me how people can dress up so elaborately and look completely different from their normal selves. The blue-skinned Star Trek girl looks awesome! ♥

  44. In England it's been rather warm here, I just snooped over to a degrees to fahrenheit converter out of interest. We can swap weathers if you want, we've had temperatures of 25+ degrees which is roughly in the 80's for you guys...I think. So yeah I'd rather have the cooler weather xD

  53. We can totally swap weather if you want Greg? we had a crazy heatwave these last few days, and I wasn't a fan, firstly because I so wasn't expecting it as everyone had been harping on about it for days and then it was kind of sickly heat where you can't really get anything done. so I'm looking forward to the rain returning anytime now! And my sister is a real big fan of Mean Girls, she's seen the film so many times and probably knows most of the lines, I can't wait to see what you think of it! I hop you have a great week :)

Congrats on the interview by the way! I'm about to stop by to read it.

  58. Spent all day today outside; it was supposed to be high 60's with a little breeze and instead we barely made it above the 50's with awful wind gusts! I just try to tell myself that I'll cherish memories of these days in the middle of July :P

Looking forward to your Netflix review! I'm always on the hunt for new titles to watch :)

  59. I think we are skipping right over spring. Today was warm enough that my grandson had on his swimsuit and was breaking up ice. Only in Michigan! At least the sun has been showing up.

  62. Not to rub it in, but we're already pretty much in beach season over here. We'll be suffering in the summer, though! Just read the interview. What fun! I have some new blogs to check out as well, too.

Hope you have a great week!

  66. Today was in the 70s here! I hope that your weather was just as nice. It is supposed to sink back down to the 50s and be rainy the rest of the week though. :(

And I will have to give The Chalet a shot. :)

  67. It's way colder than normal here in the south so I imagine you guys up north are really freezing! I can't wait to see what you think of Mean Girls.
