Sunday Post #240

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

So... April? When did that happen? On the plus side though, April brings back... The 100! And other stuff, too, like Fear The Walking Dead. So yeah... lots of watching. Should I do recaps of The 100 this year? I'm debating. Oh and this past week I did another Movies That Suck- this time it was Tremors.

So Movies That Suck #4 will be Mad Max: Fury Road. A movie that does NOT suck actually, although opinions may vary. But definitely a movie built for live tweeting reacting. That will be on Thur. And it will be busy on the blog again this week- I saw Tomb Raider and will be reviewing it on Monday. Along with Avengers fanfiction as well.

Last week I reviewed - no books! But never fear The Window is coming.

  2. I do like Tremors, but only the first movie... perhaps because Kevin Bacon is in it, lol.
Mad Max is not my kind of genre, but I'm glad you kind of enjoyed it in the end.

    1. I'm not sure if I tackle any more Tremor movies but I'm glad I saw it :) And Mad Max wasn't bad

  3. Well, it is surprising but I haven't watched the Mad Max movies yet :P I do hope you enjoy the new episodes of Walking Dead :)

  4. I remember watching Tremors back in the day because I had a huge crush on Scott Grimes lol. I recently saw it on tv and was dying laughing. It was so cheesey!

  5. I can't believe it's already April, too! And the snow has got to stop, we got snow twice this week, too. I've been seeing The Window everywhere, so looking forward to hearing what you think!

  7. Mad Max was pretty meh, but perfect for tweeting

  8. I tried watching the 100, Fear the Walking Dead as well as The Walking Dead and just couldn't get into them.

  9. Loved Charlize in that Mad Max film.

  10. I am so tired of the crazy weather! I just want temps to be above the 50s at some point for us! I living in the Pacific Northwest so I expect rain year-round and take my sunshine as I can get it, but the temps are usually warmer than this in April!
I have seen a couple of the Tremors movies and the first is by far the best of the bunch. I agree with the earlier comment that it might be because of Kevin Bacon lol. I haven't seen Fury Road... the last Mad Max movie I saw was Beyond Thunderdome, back when Mel Gibson was Max... I was not a fan.

  11. It’s been snowing here, too, but that’s not unusual for Colorado. It usually snows until the end of May. Hopefully spring gets to you soon. Have a great week!

  14. Oh, very curious about how The Window was! Next week, Fear will be back, yay! And then only 2 weeks til The 100 which is kind of the best news in, well, 11 months :D

Love the little doorway in the Old Tree picture, that is so fun! And the picture with the castle and the water and stars is SO peaceful looking, love it!

    1. The Window was good. Not as good as I was expecting, but I liked it. And FEAR is back soon!

I love that one too, so pastoral-ish or something!

  15. I love the snow! It snowed here yesterday and is supposed to snow tomorrow. We've had hardly any all season and I am a Minnesota girl through and through, so I need my snow! I live in eastern Nebraska and we've been on the cusp of countless snowstorms and not a single one dipped low enough to give us much. We've had school closings for ice and low temps/wind chill at least, but I WANT SNOW!

  16. I'm still eyeing Diamond Girl...and eagerly awaiting the new full-length book from the series. I'm also curious about The Window.

    Great visual images, as usual.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  17. It's been freezing so often here that I'm in "protect the plants" mode. Every time it freezes, I run out and cover all the plants I love best. The hardier ones don't usually need my intercession. :P
I love the Halestorm Bad Romance cover- it reminds me a bit of Deep Purple.

  20. It was almost 80 degrees down here at the beginning of last week, and stayed spring for days...and now it's super cold outside again. I want to see the Tomb Raider movie because I adore the games, but it's a video game movie and those usually suck something fierce. So I'm torn.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ooh 80 sounds so good. I'd take 70 at this juncture! But I will say that the Tomb Raider movie wasn't bad? I liked her in the role and it wasn't excellent, but it didn't suck either!

  23. We had crazy weather, too! It snowed three or four times and the wind was so bad it knocked the internet out for a few hours. Most of them were while we were sleeping, so not too bad. Ha ha.

I loved the original Mad Max, but I haven't seen Fury Road. Thanks for the Halestorm link.

    Have a wonderful week. :

Yay for Halestorm. And Fury Road actually isn't bad.

  24. Okay, I really want to know why you think Mad Max is a bad movie (I'm really curious). And did you see Ready Player One? It's based on the book of same name (and did you read the book).

    1. Actually I DON"T think it sucks. That's part of the problem with my post title- I was originally gonna cover "bad" movies only (bad being subjective of course) but some of them... aren't bad? Which is why I was debating changing the name of the feature. But for now I'm just going with it. :)

  25. I'm really looking forward to see what you thought of Blackfish City! I went back and forth between requesting the eARC, but ended up passing because there was too much on my priority list. Of course, now I'm regretting that decision and I'm wondering if I should do the audio. So, definitely curious.

  34. I enjoyed the first couple of Tremors movies. The new Mad Max not so much. We feel the opposite about these. LOL Fear The Walking Dead looks like it might be intense this season. 35. I can't believe we're already a week into April! I feel like this year is flying by. I've always wanted to watch The 100, but I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe since I'm running out of shows to binge watch it'll be my next pick...It's funny to hear you mention Tremors because I was thinking about that movie this week. I actually watched it in high school bio. For what reason I have no idea lol the teacher loved playing movies like that which is probably why I learned nothing in that class. I liked it for the most part - it's one of those movies that was so bad it was good. I'm looking forward to your review of The Window. I read it a while ago and enjoyed it for the most part. Have a great week! :)

    1. Me too! Oh my gosh you should watch the 100. Just make sure if you're not impressed at first- few episodes- stick w/ it because it gets better. A way cool post apoc story.

That sounds like a fun teacher! And yes it's so bad it's good- well maybe almost good ha ha? I think a lot of people liked it more than I did! But it was fun. :)

    1. It is a visual feast, I agree. I saw it in the theater and then again for my post, and I actually don't think it sucks, but that's the name of the feature so... I may need to change it? Ha ha but yeah it's pretty good!!

  44. I've been seeing The Window around a lot lately. I'll have to wait for your review before making up my mind to get a copy or not :) MM:FR was so great and it's even better when you realize the vast majority of the effects were practical instead of CGI. Some live action movies are practically animated movies now—it gets tiring! Hope you have a great week Greg :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I liked The Window. It was a little different than I was expecting, I didn't love it as much as I hoped to, but it was solid. And yes I loved how MM:FR was done w/ practicals- I've mused before that it's amazing no one died making that movie! It's a totally visual spectacle. I can't wait to give it the Movies That Suck experience (and that's my problem with the feature name, because some of these movies DON'T suck)

  45. Yes, I'm so excited that The 100 is back in a few weeks. Can't wait!
