Cover Characteristics Cards

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Cards

This week we're looking at playing cards. There aren't a ton that I found- mostly noir or mystery type covers- but I like a few. It was a fun topic. I'll be curious to see what everyone else got.

Thunderball

My favorite is The Death Dealer followed very closely by Cards on the Table. I like the first Casino Royale as well. The other Casino Royale cover is just okay but I do like the uncluttered art- there were two versions, one for the book and one for the movie. Below is the movie version - you can see references to it as well as actual cards. I like this one a lot more.

  2. Ooh I really like the Death Dealer cover! It's almost like the old school noir pulp covers but more updated, modern artwork. I also kinda like Thunderball with that skeleton hand. And the colors on the Agatha Christie one are nice. But that is also some cool artwork on the movie version of Casino Royale!

  4. I like the Bond covers...like the skeleton hand. It would have been good for the cover of Live and Let Die with the voodoo theme!

  13. Cards on the Table is such a fun book and I really enjoyed Casino Royale as well! I think cover-wise Cards on the Table is my favorite. There's something so theatrical about the cover.
