Sunday Post #157

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This week was more reading and less TV thanks to the Olympics being over. I'm on track with my reads and reviews so it's all good. I debuted my Tagline Tuesday feature this past week and am having fun with that- it's one more thing to fit into my schedule but I like a good tagline.  Other than that just dealing with end of summer stuff and trying to plan out the fall a bit.

Summer is winding down and we're getting closer to autumn, which is a favorite time of year. I like the cooler nights, the turning leaves and the smell of bonfires. Pumpkins (and pumpkin spice latte), the red gold colors of a northern autumn, just everything about it. I'll miss the sun and the beach, and Bookstore Spotlight is one thing I didn't get to this summer, but maybe I can fit it in this fall.

As I mentioned last week SciFi Month is returning in November. Hosted by Rinn Reads  it's a celebration of all things scifi. Reviews, discussions, movie reviews, even bingo. This is the 4th year running, and it happens in November.

Vicarious (Vicarious, #1)Truly Madly Guilty

This is a pretty good Star Wars fan film. And the cinematography is amazing- probably the best part. I mean this looks like Hoth- and I love the shot at night with the starry sky. They filmed this in Canada on a glacier I believe. Check it out-- it has a pretty good twist too. For all the silly ones you see occasionally a good one like this pops up.

And I'm listening to...

I love the picture that you shared of that spot with the rocks - it definitely does look peaceful. And I always look forward to the art that you share. My favorite this week is Beyond the Forest - love it!!

  4. We're not getting any cooler here but it's nice to hear that fall is in sight in some places as that hopefully means it'll show up here at some point! I don't like being cold but I do miss sweaters. I love that Treasure Island picture! It makes me want to go exploring. Have a great week!

    1. It's not really cooler here yet either lol but I know it's coming. I like fall as long as it comes gradually- no sudden drop offs in temp, I don't want to be cold yet. :) And I liked Treasure Island too- the sense of the massive island with the waterfall.

  5. Gorgeous pics as usual Greg and that one of the waves coming in (at sunset?) is just so relaxing.

I must admit I didn't watch any of the Olympics and had barely had my television on over the period as everything else was in a hiatus. I did catch up on something I'd been taping though - American Gothic. Have you seen that? I'm really enjoying it.

Our winter was pretty much non-existent in my part of the world, but I'm glad we've still go spring as a buffer before summer.

Keen to hear what you think of the Moriarty!

    1. Thanks, and yes that was a sunset (or close enough) shot. It is so relaxing there. I haven't seen that show but I feel like I've watche so many shows it's amazing I haven't seem them all lol.

Sounds like you've had a pretty mild winter, although they're probably usuaully like that aren't they? I don't think you ever get too cold down there do you? Looks like a nice climate where you are. And I liked the Moriarty a lot- I've seen this one get some mixed reviews but I liked it.

Love the photos, especially the cats, and my favorite is the cat hiding between the pillows.

  7. Awesome pics- I love the view from the bluffs especially! One thing I really miss about living up north is watching the leaves change color in the fall. We don't really get an autumn here in FL, so I'll just have to settle for burning some pumpkin scented candles, lol.

    1. Thanks! I do like fall although the part that comes after- that's the time I'd like to be in Florida lol.

Little miss Kitty is so cute! And your water pictures made me long for the beach. Good thing I have an outing to the lake planned for this afternoon ;)

  11. Yeah, that's the one good thing about the Olympics being over, I actually got more reading done this week. Oh, and funny story about the tagline thing. I just commented the other day and mentioned that I don't pay attention to taglines, but literally I came across a book that sounded kind of interesting, but it was the tagline that really caught my attention and decide to request it lol. Can't remember what it was now. I'll point it out next week if I get the book.

Mmm the smell of bonfires... But is it really actually about to be fall?! I didn't even realize because it still feels like summer. We don't really have fall where I live lol.

Gorgeous photos! Love the sky in the first one.

    1. I love it, see taglines work lol! I remember your comment so glad one caught your eye. I like how they try to make them all mysterious specially on a YA thriller or something... :)

Bonfires are great, and I'm not sure anything is better than the smell of burning leaves. Sounds weird I know but have you ever smelled that? It's the best. And it's not really fall like here yet, I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but in about a month it'll be cooling down. And I love when the leaves all fall...

  12. Your pictures are lovely, it looks like a very relaxing place to visit. And tagline Tuesday sounds fun, so I'm going to check that out in a minute. I'm delighted Autumn is here, as I love it too.

  13. No Man's Sky looks fabulous! I hope my son gets it because I would certainly watch him play it. Maybe I would do a little exploring myself, but the fighting pirates thing would be too nerve wracking. Ha ha. I want to live on that pile of rocks in the water. It is so pretty there. We finally had a day without high humidity here yesterday and I am hoping that trend continues. Have a super week. :)

  19. Renegade is my FAVORITE Lindsey Stirling Song, not a fan of her new album, like her better when she plays just the violin and not with other people. I didn't like it at all. Found maybe a few songs with just her I added to my play list but that was it.

Do you know I didn't watch the Olympics at all. Not even one event. It seemed to be over before it started since we were away the week it starts. Wait does that make sense?

Love this pictures. Do you know the pirate one you posted a few weeks back I copied and made my background on my computer, I just love the way it looks. Beyond the forest would make a good one too :)

That's awesome about the pirate pic! Glad you liked it- I think that would be an awesome background!

  21. Those pictures in Lake Michigan look so much Lake Superior, especially the one of the rock jetty. I kayaked around Isle Royale for 10 days and that little rock island looks exactly like the little rock islands all over the inland lake on the island. You are soooo lucky to live close to all that beauty :)

Do you have 2 cats?!?! They are so cute and they're pretty small, huh? Or do they just look like that in the pictures?

    Have a great week!!

    1. Ooh nice I haven't spent much time at Superior but I'd love to see Isle Royale. And do you ever kayak around those rock things over by Caseville I want to say? I saw pics of some cool kayaking areas over that way.

I have 4 cats (yes) although 3 now- I had to put one down a few weeks ago he was older and not healthy anymore, poor guy. so it was tough. 3 left, his sister is older but the other two (the ones in the pics) are about a year. and they're crazy!!

No Man's Sky has been somewhat of a disappointment. It had a lot of brilliant ideas, but the reality of it doesn't make for a game worth spending a lot of hours on. :/
Summer is normally my favorite season. I love the heat. But it's been insane this year...if my skin doesn't feel like it might burn off (I'm super pale) then I'm having trouble breathing because of intense humidity. So I'm sort of looking forward to Autumn's cool temperatures, even if I hate all the rain we'll end up with.

  46. Love the photos of the lake and lakeshore! Are you able to go there often? Do you live on the shore, or nearby? There's something so soothing about water, whether it's a lake, a stream, or the ocean. We're lucky to live across the street from a small lake, even if we can't see it from our house. (Artificial lake, and the road is the high point between us and it.) But I can walk along part of the shore, or go over to watch the sunset or the stars. I'm looking forward to cooler weather so I can actually go out there and enjoy it!

Nice artwork curation; I like the raptors. Have a great week!
