Sunday Post #146

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Another week and a good one for the most part. The week kinda flew by and I've been reading a bit- most of my shows are either wrapping up or getting ready to start again, so I haven't been on Netflix. It's been cool too, still sunny but the temps have been in the 70's- nice. I reviewed Gena/ Finn this week and had mixed thoughts on that one, and I also discussed Game of Thrones (show vs books). I also came up with a short list of bookstores I'd like to hit for my long dormant Bookstore Spotlights- I've been wanting to get back to those for a while but time hasn't cooperated.

Maybe this summer I can get a few of those in. I'll also be renewing my readthrough of A Dance with Dragons on Wednesdays- I'm in the home stretch on that one. And I'll have show recaps of some of the stuff I'm watching as well.

Trust Issues Part Three is done and ready to go. I'll be posting it this Tuesday- I hope you get a chance to stop by and let me know what you think.

And I'm listening to...

This is kinda fun.

  1. I am very worried about the Waif and even more so about Aria! So that poem is reassuring! I have also seen a theory that the Waif is actually Aria which wrecks my head but makes a little sense too. Roll on next episode!

I find when the summer comes, I rarely watch TV. My only show now is GOT and I've cancelled Netflix till the Autumn comes.

    2. I know, I'm VERY curious what happens with the Waif and Arya!

I don't think I could cancel Netflix but I am definitely watching it less!

  2. We finished The Blacklist so we're kind of between shows as well. I'm not quite sure what direction we're going to go in next. I'm excited to see what you think of The Invisible Library. That one is seriously tempting me! Have a great week!

    1. I'm sort of between shows as well, I've watched everything on Netflix I was interested in so I have a few weeks until some shows return. :) That's a problem I haven't had lately!

  3. My week went by fast too. I have been taking advantage of Netflix and Amazon Prime as of late. I don't really follow that many summer shows. I look forward to reading Trust Issues Part Three. I wouldn't mind living in a tree house if they looked like either one in the photos you shared.

I hope you have a great week!

    1. I watch a lot of amazon I don't have Prime but I watch their streaming stuff. A lot of shows aren't on netflix so I catch em on Amazon.

Thank you, I hope Trust Issues doesn't disappoint!

  4. I wish I had started Game of Thrones back in the beginning...it would be one I'd have to watch on Netflix or Amazon Video...if it is even there.

    Great images and videos.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

    1. Believe it or not I've never seen all the GoT episodes, i was down on the show for a while- so I skipped several seasons. I'm watching again tho! I'm more into the books...

  5. Love the So Nude, So Dead cover. I used to love Perry Masons and the like decades ago and guess they are of that genre!

The Shallows intrigues and scares the bejesus out of me. I'm really phobic about sharks so really could not watch it and go near the water again. I mean, I don't go in the ocean now, but....

    1. I enjoy finding those covers, some are new and some are old. I'm not super fond of sharks and with the big lakes I'm lucky I don't have to swim in the ocean!

  6. I am kind of in between shows right now myself. I am waiting for OITNB to come out next week though. I love the Real Housewives/GoT parody . So funny! Have a great week!

    1. I thought that was fun too. I know a lot of people are waiting for the new OITNB although I've only seen the first episodes- i love it when a great show comes back tho!

  7. The Real Housewives of Westeros is super funny! AND THE ARTWORK! I wish I can draw like that! But I just don't have any talent whatsoever!

  8. That lightbulb placement on the pulp cover ... that's something. Love the art work that you find, as always. Have a great week!

  9. Glad you had a good week :-) Did you read Date Night on Union Station yet, or did you just pick it up? Because I have that one too. It looked too weird and fun to pass up for free lol.

Your bookstore spotlight, are you going to be doing it on local bookstores? If you actually have enough local stores for something like that, I'm jealous. I have one B&N about 20 mins away, and that's kind of it. Not even used or indie stores nearby :-/

So Nude, So Dead has got to be the best title ever in history. I feel like I already have some qualms about that shark movie though. Like, if he already attacked a whole bunch of people, I feel like he'd be full and just swim away, and then she could swim to shore. I think I read somewhere once that more people die of falling out of bed than from sharks? Most animals don't attack people just for the sake of attacking, but I guess animals in movies always seem to lol.

    Gorgeous mermaid picture!!!

    1. I just finished Date Night. It's different but it cracked me up at times. It just takes this idea of this space station and just runs with it- I couldn't help but like it. And I agree, I totally got it on a whim.

Yeah there's a few indie stores around here and then some others around the state that I like- and I'm always on the lookout for used bookstores. I like my local B&N too- any bookstore really. :)

"he'd be full" lol. No doubt, how many people can one shark eat?? Although in this case I think she's all alone or something. Because that's a fabulous idea. But I don't know, the whole standoff w/a shark thing... But it looks good. :)

    1. I know, is that title a trip or what? Those always crack me up! And it's been nice here, although it's hotter now. I'm not complaining though. :)

      Have a great week!

  11. Where is the time going? Oh, The Invisible Library. I'll be curious to see what you think of that one.

  12. Sometimes I wonder how I coped before Netflix, though less so with Amazon which I never seem to watch anything on. So many shows that I feel I have to watch.

  13. I love summer time. I love watching less television and seeing so many people being outside. Sigh..
I’ve never seen Game of Thrones, and I’ve started in the first book a while back but just couldn’t get through it. I’m determined to try again though.
Have a great week and happy reading! ;)

  14. The night is dark bla bla bla HOLLAAAA hahaha that is a fitting description of Melisandre's character. :D

I watched the The Shallows trailer, but it looks a bit too much like Open Water to me - is there a plot? Blake Lively and that scenery look good though. :D

I've also read Gena/Finn recently, I'm off to check out your review!

  15. I've not been watching all that much on TV this year so far, but I'm just getting into Bitten, which I'm really enjoying - it's impressively kept close to the book's storyline and Elena is exactly as I'd imagined her. Loving your artwork this week - all those pics have such a fascinating backstory... Have a great week, Greg.

  16. A big yes to more Trust Issues! It has been cold one day and hot and humid the next around here. Crazy. Have a wonderful week. :)

  17. More Trust Issues!! Yes please! Also I can't wait to see what you think of the Invisible Library - I really liked it.
I need to check out your Game of Thrones post too - books vs. tv series sounds exactly like something I need to help me decide if I should watch it ;)

  18. Do you think if she was so clothed she would still be so dead? That cover is awesome! lol Have to be careful since I am very behind on GoTs I have heard some spoilers but nothing major and I do want to watch it.

Love those pictures! I hope you have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  19. I read a lot this week too. I do have some TV shows to get caught up on but sometimes I am just more in the mood for reading.

That Real Housewives of Westeros cracks me up. People are so creative :)

Hope you have a great week!

  20. That GOT parody! I'm holing off watching anymore GOT until I read A Dance With Dragons. I should have read it by now but life got in the way and I lost interest, I guess. Maybe I'll try to fit it in before the year is over just in case Winds of Winter really does come out.
    Have a great week! :)

  21. Pulp Fiction cover cracks me up....lol. I need to catch up on all my shows but I have been working on cleaning and when I do that I just put netflix on a few of my favorite shows I have watched a ton of times like Murder She Wrote or Midsummer Murders so I won't want to just sit and watch....lol.

    Have a great week!

  22. I'm sort of in between shows too, I finished Orphan Black and started rewatching it because I didn't know what to start next: Daredevil maybe? Also the new seasons of all my shows are done, with Peaky Blinders just finished this past week. Since I've been watching movies like X-Men to prepare for the new one in theatres LOL! Lots of rewatches I guess XD As always, LOVE the art you shared, especially the mermaid and the one by Tyler Edlin ♥ Happy Sunday Greg^^ x

  23. We got rid of cable a while back and I've found I don't miss it so much. There are things I miss (like my morning dose of the news) but overall I read more than I watch so it isn't so bad. We're on the last leg of our Gilmore Girls binge. Only half a season left! I need to watch GoT. I enjoyed the books and I've heard the show is very similar. Hope you have a great week!

  25. We've been having nice weather too. It's not too hot, not too cold. It's around the 70's here too.

All of my shows ended and my summer shows are starting but I did manage to get in some Netflix binging.

Hope you have a great week!

  26. The last episode of GOT had another shocking ending. I can't wait to see what happens. My girls saw the GOT coloring book while we were shopping and my oldest said "this is really easy to color since all you have to use is red. Everyone dies on this show lol". I hope that isn't true but we can't wait to see what happens. I loved your bookstore spotlights so it's great you will be bringing it back. You are so lucky to have so many in your area. I hope you have a great week!

  34. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on The Invisible Library! And I enjoyed the Arkenstone composition and the art work, especially the tree village. And thanks for the Paper Fury link; I loved her post (and will link it on this week's News & Notes.)

I have to admit that I haven't tried Game of Thrones in either format yet. Maybe someday, though I'm not terribly happy with GRRM's habit of killing off basically everyone.

    Have a great week!

  35. Glad to hear you had a good week. I was curious about that Blake Lively movie, but after watching the trailer I think it might give me nightmares, ha.
    Happy reading to you!

  37. That's good to hear you had a good week for the most part. I hope you'll have shows to watch again soon, although it's also nice you had some more reading time.
I haven't read or watched game of thrones, so I can't really say anything about that.
That forest artwork looks great! I hope you'll have a great week!
