Sunday Post #267

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

So the first week of The Bookish Games are in the dustbin of history and I... survived! So far. It's a tough world, folks. You gotta be cunning and fierce to survive. Or lucky. :) Curious? You can check it out here. And trust no one

We've had a night kill now and Day Two starts tomorrow. Follow the fun on Twitter at @TheBookishGames or here. In other news the FraterFest read-a-thon is underway. I finished a book and am working on my second. We'll see how I do with the Games going on...

This past week I read  Echoes (loved it), Two Dark Reigns (liked it) and Number One Chinese Restaurant (erghh). I also discussed Game of Thrones (warging) and will have a discussion this week on what happens next at the Wall. Come on by and share your thoughts. Oh, and I'm reviewing Echoes soon too.

  1. Yay, more mermaid art! I also feel cold looking at a lot of these. Especially that first one, such an evocative image. Love the lantern glow reflecting off the ice and illuminating the eerie face in the water.

    1. Echoes was good- it's taking a little heat for the ending, but I thought it was kind of a gutsy move- especialy since I don't see any sign of a sequel!

  9. BOOKISH GAMES. I can say nothing about them at the moment, except that we are ALIVE, because it is public knowledge, so I will just... squee about them. (I love all the comments that are like "what even IS this?" hahahha ohhh honey you have NO IDEA what you just clicked onto!)

Some of these pictures are awesome. Like the badass woman in the dress with the gun, and the submerged city and such. Some (the last one, for sure) are going to give me nightmares. And I mean, I REALLY hope the pregnant (in labor maybe?) lady can somehow get out of there, eep.

ECHOES. I need it. I am so glad it was good!

  10. OMG This art is amazing! Thank you for sharing!!! I need to figure out how to go buy some prints for myself for Christmas now.

(Also... is it just me or does that book cover look like a line of Kylie Jenners?)

  12. I tried to register as a spectator for The Bookish Games, but it wouldn't work. I'll have to try again. 👍

The Turquoise Galleon - I have some new dinner music now. 🍴🎼

I love the submerged city and the sail boat/gondola hybrid. I Have always wondered how long people could live in the upper floors of submerged skyscrapers before the lower parts of the buildings would begin to crumble from being water-logged. 🌇

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

    1. I think you have to email them or something- not sure? They add you to a chat group that can see the doings and comment- I think the Dead Player Chat (cause eliminated players go there also) might be as fun as the Games!

      That's a great question!

I'm glad you enjoyed Alice Reeds, Echoes, I was a bit disappointed, it was interesting but I got more questions than answers at the end. I suppose that makes you read the sequel.

  40. I'm still confused as to what the Bookish Games are ... and I've checked several times! lol. Grats on remaining and here's hoping you stay until the end.

More awesome pictures as usual. My favorite has to be the one that looks like tentacles attacking during the 1920s...
I think I may need that book/movie/whatever. We need more of that.

    Have a great week!

  41. Congratulations on surviving the first part of The Bookish Games! I've heard they can be brutal. Good luck on the rest of your journey! I'm so glad you loved Echoes! I wasn't a fan of the ending, or some of the time spent getting there, but it was an okay read for me. The ending was effed up, though...argh.

I hope you have a wonderful week! I'm going to try and catch up on all of my comics this week. *fingers crossed*
