Sunday Post #266

So the big news this week is I signed up for The Bookish Games. You can find out all about it here- the book inspiration for this version is Vicious, and it starts this weekend! This will be my first time playing- I understand it gets quite intense.

I've always loved games. RPG's, online games, console stuff (although I've never had a console- can you believe it?). Well I have a Wii U but that's it. I've even thought of creating a Choose Your Own adventure style game on the blog- crazy, right?- where people could pick a few roles and sorta adventure together. But there's lotsa logistics, naturally! Anyway, I'm stoked for The Bookish Games and maybe I'll even survive Day 1!

Total Recall is coming for Movies That Suck and this past week I shared my Favorite SF Tropes, as well as a discussion on Gods of Game of Thrones. This week I've got a new post on Monday called Book Beginnings, where I'll share some of my favorite opening passages, and will also discuss Game of Thrones and warging.

  5. I remember the Bookish Games, but I never really understood what was happening. I think it's one of those things you have to participate in to have fun. Hopefully you can let us know what's going on so we can vicariously enjoy it!

  8. RPGs are my jam! I used to play the x-Box a lot, and I had a Supernintendo (did I spell that right?) growing up. I miss the old games like Donkey Kong and Mario Kart.

  9. I've never had a gaming console either. My daughter has one and she even tried to get me to play a few of the games but I'm just not into it.

    1. I don't like consoles nearly as much as a good PC game or online game. :)

  11. I've never heard of The Bookish Games, but that sounds cool! I'll go check it out. Ooh gorgeous Sleepy Hollow art! And I want that attic, it looks so cozy! I also love the UFO one, great art and an interesting idea.

    1. I had not either until recently. Well I remember a hubbub a couple years ago but they've been on hiatus? That attic is awesome. Now I have to just SURVIVE

  12. How do you always find the most amazing pictures!? I loooove the one with the boat and the submerged Statue of Liberty. Imagine the stories that could be told! The truck one is pretty interesting too. And the Secret Hideout looks like a place where you could hunker down during the apocalypse, and since we'll need those soon... yeah.

BOOKISH GAMES. I am currently over here waiting for someone to comment. This time zones thing has me all jacked up, especially with everyone being from all over the world! I love how exciting AND nervewracking it is all at the same time!

    1. With great effort. :) And I liked that too. So spooky! Imagine if water was THAT high!

The time zones are an issue. They're pretty ahead of this so we may be sleeping while they active but I guess it balances out. I notice everything sloed down last night I kept checking to see if anyone made any late moves. :)

  15. The Bookish Games sounds like a lot of fun! Good luck surviving the first and the next days :)
We got my oldest son a Nintendo Switch for his birthday last month, and he loves it - it's small, so he can play while on the move, but it can also be connected to the TV. Needless to say, there's been a lot of Mario carting and Fortnighting around here lately;)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  20. I have zero clue about the Bookish Games, even after reading the post, but if I get a chance I'll look at the other links on their post. How to you get to be a spectator? I am wondering what you have gotten yourself into. Ha ha. 🏆

I have been loving the comic every week. 😂

I really think you need to watch some anime movies; again, one of your art images (the scavenger one) reminds me of anime art. 🎏

Have you ever watched The Blair Witch Project? That would be a good Halloween Movies That Suck. My ex and I were laughing during it. Ha ha. His bass player told us it was the scariest movie he'd ever seen.Too funny. 😂

    Have a wonderful week.🌞

    1. You know, the first time I read the post, I didn't either. I think it's one of those games you learn by playing? And to be a spectator I think you just email the mods and they add you?

      Yay!

      That totally looks like anime!
