Sunday Post #170

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This past weekend I went to a holiday open house/ Christmas thing- family was in town so I got to see them- and we got snow! And man it's been cold. We even had a bit of hail. Other than that a pretty quiet (and short) week. Thanksgiving came and went and I'm looking forward to doing some blogging, reading and maybe watching over the long weekend. I've been trying to catch up lately on movies that I've missed over at Amazon.

Thanksgiving itself was nice and low key, sat around and watched movies and of course ate a ton. It was nice to see family twice in one week as I don't see them that often.

A pretty good week other than that. SciFi Month is winding down and I'm starting to plan stuff out for December- and the New Year. It's been a good reading week too, although I'm reading two very different books- one is a paranormal/ UF and the other a space opera. Have to say I'm loving Long Way a lot.

  1. Sounds like a lovely thanksgiving. Getting to see family you don't see often is nice. The snow sounds kinda of cool too - I do love snow.

  2. I'm very much in planning mode for December now, trying to decide on which books I want to read. I need to step up the reading a bit as a lot of this month was taken up binge watching Game of Thrones dvds! We don't have Thanksgiving over here so I wasn't doing anything special...a bit like every week then!

    1. Ha ha Game of Thrones... that will take some time. :) I didn't do a ton of reading this month...

  4. I'm glad you had such a nice Thanksgiving, Greg! and sometimes, seeing the family in small doses is the best ;)
I'm actually a tiny bit envious of your snow! It kind of smells like snow here, but there is none down here in Geneva yet. There is however, already snow in the Alps :)
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading / watching.

    1. It was nice. And I agree ha ha- about small doses. Especially when politics comes up!

We only got a smidgen of snow and it didn't last long, but it did feel festive!

  5. Wow, snow and hail, it does sound like a perfect weekend to catch up on tv shows. It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. I've always thought low key is the best, particularly when it is relatives you don't see very often.

  6. Do you believe I've not yet seen the final series of Continuum?! It doesn't seem to be on Netflix which is a bummer. I own the first (3, was it?) seasons and recall the final one was going to be short!

Snow already, I had heard there'd been snow! And Before I Fall looks interesting. It seems familiar but I don't think I've read it...

    1. The 4th was short (like maybe 5) and it was okay. Not spectacular, they had to warp things up quicker than they wanted to... it was nice to get closure though. I thought Netflix had it all but I know Australia has different stuff, so maybe not?

We got just a little snow, and it didn't stay.

  7. Isn't it amazing how we're already down to December? Planning for the New Year? This year went by so quickly. And yet, at times, not quickly enough. D: I'm glad you had a great week in reading!

Have a fabulous weekend, Greg. =)

  8. We had a quiet Thanksgiving, too, just the way I like it. Ha ha. I decided I am going to do the Not a Challenge SciFi "challenge" in January. It got really cold here, but it is going to be in the 50s mid week. Have a wonderful week.

    1. It was a thing where downtown they had the shops all giving away cookies or hot chocolate or whatever, and they had carolers and all that... kind of a Christmas walk thing. It was nice, but cold. Several of my aunts were in town so I met em down there, haven't seen em in a while. It was a good week (short, which is always good)!

I love that cyberpunk stuff too! I was really excited to find that this week.

  10. We got a good rainstorm here this afternoon. Just in time for us to put up our outdoor Christmas lights. Haha. Looks like it'll have to wait.

Your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful--like my kind of Thanksgiving. :-)

I love the cover for Weregirl. I hope it's good!

Guess what?! We got tickets to Rogue One! Our Home Owner's Association is treating the neighborhood to the movie. I'm really looking forward to seeing it this next month. I hope it's good.

I hope you have a wonderful week, Greg.

  13. Our Thanksgiving was pretty low key too. It was good. I was happy to spend the time with family too. We are all so busy that we need to make the effort to get together now, or it doesn't happen. I am glad that you spent time with yours.

  14. Glad you have a lovely convivial Thanksgiving - but you can keep the snow - brrr! We've had some wind and rain which is bringing the leaves off the trees in a hurry but it is still amazingly mild for the time of year - and I'm hoping it'll stay that way! Glad you are enjoying A Long Way - I loved it - such smart clever writing. I haven't read the sequel, but have it on my TBR. And that cyberpunk art - ooo... my eyes have goosebumps. You have snow, we've had rain, the windy kind that I don't really like, and we were out in it yesterday, after our family get-together.

Went home to binge-watch the rest of Gilmore Girls. Loved it!

  24. Glad you had a good week of holiday snow and plenty of food and family! That's what it's all about anyway :)

I don't read space operas, admitting here that I've never read one because I don't get into technical sci-fi stories almost ever, but something about Long Way.. intrigues and I see she has a stand-alone sequel out this year too. Are you going to read that one? Please try to share your thoughts on this book when you finish, and have a great week ahead.

    1. I am going to read the sequel as I'm really enjoying Long Way. It's very character driven, minimal plot and not a lot of action (so far) but I love the characters- just a pleasure. And it isn't technical at all- space opera (at least the ones I like) generally don't go in for all the tech stuff and so- called "hard" sci fi which tries to be more realistic. I like stories like this where it's just assumed people can travel the stars and they get on with it. :)

  32. I'm not at all ready for snow - we rarely ever get snow in my part of the world (which always confuses people since I live in Canada), but this year we're going on holiday to a wintery climate and I'm so worried - honestly nothing I have is going to stand up to that kind of cold, my poor wussy west coast self is in for a world of cold! ;-)
