Movie quotes... there are so many good ones. This post came about by accident, I was working on other stuff and it hit me- how many good quotes are out there. Not just from books but from movies too- and then of course it was a matter of narrowing them down, since there could be literally hundreds. And everyone has favorites. These are frankly just the first ones that came to mind, and I may do another down the road- but for now, I hope you enjoy.
The Princess Bride
"As you wish"
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
"Good thing we're allies, right?"
Escape From New York
"You touch me, he dies.
If you're not in the air in thirty seconds, he dies.
You come back in, he dies."
"Call me Snake"
The Terminator
"Come with me if you want to live."
"It can't be bargained with.
It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear.
And it absolutely will not stop- ever- until you are dead."
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
"You see in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend.
Those with loaded guns.
And those who dig."
Return of the Jedi
"Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive."
"Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design."
"It was I who allowed the Alliance to know the location of the shield generator."
Star Wars
"Utinni"
Flash Gordon
"No! Not the bore worms!"
"No! Not the bore worms!"
BONUS
I was just watching Return of the Jedi earlier today! So many great quotes from that movie. I have fond memories of being a little kid and having my sister repeat them over and over when we'd watch. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! There are truly so many good ones out there.
ReplyDeleteOh man, there are a lot. I definitely have favorites, but I suck at recalling them off the top of my head. Many of mine come from Mel Brooks and John Wayne movies. Blazing Saddles is one of my most favorite ... "Candy gram for Mongo." lol!
ReplyDeleteThese are some great ones. Utinni!!!

My husband finally made me watch some of The Terminator movies, so "Come with me if you want to live" stands out!
ReplyDeleteWho can forget, "As you wish"? Who thought those 3 words could be so romantic. I also love the quote from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, one of my favorite Westerns.
ReplyDeleteI love all of these!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun quotes. I enjoyed reading/watching them!
ReplyDeleteWe are quoting movies all the time around here and some of these are our favorites!
ReplyDelete...and everything said in Mean Girls ;)
ReplyDelete"Oh my God Danny DeVito, I love your work!"
"And none for Gretchen Weiners. Bye."
"Her hair is insured for $10,000."
"She once met John Stamos on a plane, and he told her she was pretty."
Princess Bride is <3 <3
From a Sunday afternoon favourite:
ReplyDeleteYou're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!
oh good idea! that's so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHere's a quote you're probably very familiar with :)
ReplyDelete"A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of Men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!"
I love The Princess Bride! It's one of my favorites and so quotable! ""Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." I also can't read The Hunger Games or watch the movie anymore because, you know, Finnick. *cries*
ReplyDeleteL @ Do You Dog-ear?
Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes! The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies ever and that quote, sigh. It's just the best! ♥
ReplyDeleteAnd I love The Terminator too! And I can't help but hear that quote in Arnold's voice lol!

You picked some goodies Greg, and I love that you went old school too! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie poster, and for a second I thought this was a Movies that Suck post, and I was about to fight you over The Princess Bride 😂 There are so many great quotes in that movie! "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Lol. I'm not familiar with all these, but the ones I am familiar with are definitely memorable lines!
ReplyDeleteI love some of these quotes - I'm just a sucker for remembering lines from movies and there are some great ones here.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Love, love The Princess Bride and on the other side I didn't like the second Hunger games book and haven't read the last book. Haven't even been able to force myself to watch the movies
ReplyDeleteOur family talks to each other in movie quotes! When someone is talking too much we use the Hello, My name is Indigo Montoya quote. Great post.
ReplyDeletethere are tons of great quotes in 'the princess bride' but 'as you wish' is really the best, at least that's what I think.
ReplyDeletethe 'terminator''s 'come with me...' - great line.
I didn't really like the rest, I think they work better within the context, if I haven't see those star wars movies, I wouldn't quite know what those meant.
have a lovely day.
The Princess Bride may be the most quotable movie ever. Just thinking about some of them makes me want to rewatch it! We quote Monty Python and Holy Grail a decent amount. I love the other quotes you shared but for some reason those don't stick with me!
ReplyDeleteSo many iconic lines come from The Princess Bride! As you wish has to be the most recognizable one, though. I also love basically everything that Inigo Montoya says in the movie. 😂
ReplyDeleteGreat quote selection, Greg! I haven't seen Escape from New York yet, but it's on my list!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post! I think most of my favorite movie quotes come from The Princess Bride. Love that movie so much!
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes from favorite movies! My dad loved Princess Bride and we would watch it together as a family many a time. Love the ‘Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya...’ quote. ♥️
ReplyDeleteFantastic picks! I love that Catching Fire one. I need to rewatch the movie. I love Finnick so much ;) Haha
ReplyDeleteOMG The Good, the Bad and the Ugly! That's my youth Greg!
