The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
September! It's here and it feels like summer is over even though technically it's not. And it's still warm but fall is coming- cooler nights, turning leaves, and pumpkins. And pumpkin spice latte. The smell of burning leaves. Does anyone else love that? I love the fall weather, the leaves swirling in the wind, sleeping with the windows open. I'm looking forward to it although I will miss the longer days.
Tuesday Tagline continued this week and I'm having fun sharing some of the taglines out there. The good, the bad and the bizarre! I finished a few books and have been able to mostly stay off Netflix.
And I'm listening to...
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
NEW ARRIVAL/ UPCOMING REVIEWS:
Nice video by Lindsey Stirling
I am so excited for all things fall but agree I will miss the longer days. Gorgeous picture of the sunset. Have a great week!!ReplyDelete
Yeah the longer days... those are the best. Light out until almost 10... that's what I'll miss.Delete
Fall...*sigh* It's the best. I can feel it coming, too.ReplyDelete
I know, I can't wait too. Cooler temps, the leaves... all of it.Delete
Burning leaves??? I'm going to put you in the weird column for that one. Everyone here burns them and it's horrible *cough, cough* Love the pictures!! Have your trees turned yet??? I've got two maples giving me some red leaves already!!!ReplyDelete
Have a great week!!
No burning leaves for you?? Although I know they can aggarvate people's sinuses so I totally get that. You're not supposed to breathe that stuff in but I can't help myself. We used to burn leaves and I loved that smell... so maybe it's a nostalgia thing? Anyway no, not really turning here yet, although I've seen a FEW trees srart to turn yellow...Delete
I do like the crispness of fall and the cooler weather. I wish it wouldn't get dark so early, though. I always enjoy the artwork you share.ReplyDelete
I do too. I miss the longer days, but other than that- give me fall. :) Thanks!Delete
I like the smell of burning leaves too. There is something oddly comforting about it. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
I agree! I LOVE that smell. It's not healthy they say but if I smell burning leaves I am breathing in that scent lol.Delete
I don't mind the smelling of burning when it's in my yard but get bothered by our neighbors...ReplyDelete
Ha ha that makes sense. I love a campfire smell too but if too many of the neighbors are doing it sometimes the smell will get in the house and then you can't get it out!Delete
We've got a long way to go till it feels like Fall - especially in the daytime but it's started to get a little cooler at night which is exciting! I like the smell of burning leaves when it's just a hint in the air. It definitely means it's fall! Have a great week!ReplyDelete
Yeah I imagine you're still pretty hot down there... we've actually had a lot of humidity but the last three days have been gorgeous, with nice temps but no humidity. It's been awesome. And I agree- burning leaves means fall!Delete
Oh, I'll have to check out your review of Rolling in the Deep! Those were some nasty mermaids indeed!ReplyDelete
You always have the most interesting links, it must take you ages to out your posts together.
It's cooled off a little bit here but it's not quite fall weather yet. Soon! Though, then comes winter. *shudder* But changing leaves, cooler weather, sweaters and hoodies, hot cocoa and plain apple cider; yeah, I'm ready. :)
Rolling in the Deep was great! Loved it- and I wanr more scary merfolk stories but for some reason have trouble finding them. This one fit the bill!Delete
Thanks about the links! It does take time sometimes, although lately I have the template ready to go and when I come across a video or something I like I just slot it in. I usually add something or two every day throughout the week, whereas in the old days (ha ha) I used to do it all at once- which sucked. :) I may get carried away lately...
I agree with all those things- fall is lovely. Except for the winter part!
The Incident on the Bridge looks really good! Hope your week treats you well :)ReplyDelete
I am looking forward to that one. I think that'll be the next one I read after Vicarious...Delete
I don't get changing leaves here. It's just summer and a-little-colder summer. Lol. But I don't have heat in my apartment, so I want it to stay hot. I actually like the shorter days though since I like the night and the darkness :-DReplyDelete
Ooh, I really like that pulp cover. You should bookmark it for when we have cards as a cover topic! I know that's coming up at some point, but things seem to be rather sporadic with that meme at the moment.
I'm liking this "Supposed to Be" song!
Summer and cooler summer doesn't sound bad. :) As much as I bitch about the heat and love fall, there's something to be said for it being nice year round. And yeah you are a night person aren't you? I am too although I do like the longer days of summer...Delete
That is a nice cover isn't it? I'm not sure what's going on with CC, I'm kinda doing my own when I don't like the scheduled one. and there's a lot of those coming up. :)
Icon for Hire's a great band, i like them a lot.
Fall and I have a love-hate relationship. Because yes, I like the pretty things, and the delightfulness of the cooler nights and all that jazz... but it is so depressing because it means that summer is over and snow will be arriving and snow makes me sad.ReplyDelete
And I don't know when things changed around here but I LIKE IT. A lot. I am also excited that you're reading Vicarious! I need to know if I should add it to my wishlist haha. Also, I wish that Chinese architecture and the beach met up more often- I kind of love it!
I'm the same way- give me the crisp air, the colors and all the fun fall stuff, but snow... no. I need more summer.Delete
Thanks, I tweaked a bit (it was about time) and I like it a lot better. Should have done it sooner. :) And I know about Vicarious- finally right?? I'm reading it now so I'll let you know soon. And I love that pic...
I loved Julia Stiles in the first two Bourne movies and hoped they'd get together.... I haven't seen the latest though!ReplyDelete
It's warm here already so I suspect our short winter will become summer with spring getting very little say in the matter.
Must read your review of the latest Moriarty as I didn't manage to get a review copy so haven't read it yet.
I did too. She was a great part of those movies! I hope you get a nice spring, I like a nice easy transtion between seasons lol but yeah it doesn't always happen that way.Delete
I liked the latest Moriarty a lot, I've seen mixed reviews but I liked it. Not perfect but a good read, I thought.
We have burn days here and the ranchers and farmers burn stuff, so the air just smells like smoke. Sometimes it's good. I love the smell of campfire though. So that music video is just for the book? Kind of cool - more creative than book trailers.ReplyDelete
I love a campfire smell. what is it with me and smoke lol? And yes I think that video is just for the - I agree bette than a trailer. I think it added something, although the actors look kinda young- I think when I read YA sometimes I age them up in my head?Delete
I left a comment at your site but I didn't see it, so it might be in your spam folder. :)
We're heading into spring, but autumn is my preferred season. Love the artwork! Have a great week. :)ReplyDelete
Yeah I like it too, maybe because the temos moderate a bit? If I could hang onto summer but with the cooler temps...Delete
I love summer and the longer days especially when I work in the evening. It's nice that it isn't dark by the time I get home. I am not a fan of pumpkin spice latte but I do love pumpkin pie and apple cider.ReplyDelete
Hope you have a great week!
I do too, I'll miss the longer days even as I love the cool temps!Delete
I love fall, once the kids go back to school on my days off the Hubby and I go walk around the local cemeteries. It's so peaceful. Amazing pictures again this week and I love that pulp cover, thanks for sharing!ReplyDelete
Thank you, and I agree. Fall is awesome.Delete
I like fall, and pumpkins and all that stuff but I hate that it gets darker earlier and that winter is just around the corner...lol. It does have me in the mood for horror novels. :)ReplyDelete
You seem to be on a roll with your reading there! Happy reading!
Week in Review
Me too, and you're right there's something about it that gets one in the mood for darker reads. :)Delete
I do love fall, I just don't like that right after it comes winter and winter is my LEAST FAVORITE lol :) I like summer, but I'm done with it right now (shhh! Don't tell Michelle) because I have heat rash on my arms! So you've officially made me curious about night school - but it looks scariest than I tend to read.ReplyDelete
Some beautiful pictures you took! I love the water, but I don't think I could handle the winters you get ad a trade off for that beauty :/
Have a great week Greg!
Same here- fall yes, winter NO! lol yeah winter's a nasty trade off for the summer beauty. Although winter is nice in it's own way, it just lasts too long. And Night school wasn't really scary- I mean, there's some tension but there's no paranormal elements so there's that.Delete
Fall is my favorite season, and in these parts, it is very short. The hot days(that are slightly cooler now, in the 80s this weekend) continue until October. The temperature will go up to 100 or above at least once or twice more.ReplyDelete
But the evenings are cooler, and the pumpkin things are out in the shops...and that reminds me to go over to Barnes & Noble to have some of their Starbucks goodies in the cafe.
I love those pix, especially of the lake. I also enjoyed seeing that meandering mansion, just above the dungeon.
Enjoy your weekend...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Wow that is hot. Hotter than I would like. Isn't it funny how the pumpkin stuff is all out? Although I'll take a pumpkin spice latte anytime lol.Delete
Oh by the way I commented at your blog but I didn't see it show up- I might be in your spam folder. :) I noticed all the WP I commented on last night... didn't take.
I love fall, it's my favorite!!!! All of those things you said, I can't wait. This week is already cooler and I love it. It could be fall year round in my opinion.ReplyDelete
Rolling in the Deep sounds really good - I love a mean mermaid story.
I love your Northern MI pics too - I wish we would have gotten to see more on our trip, but oh well, there is always next year! We are actually planning a pretty long northern MI trip with my brother and his family for next summer. My niece is 6 months younger than my son, so it should be fun. And I am definitely adding in the Old Mission peninsula!
Meant to add that I love your new blog look!Delete
I love fall too, and spring- when the temps are a little cooler but we still have sunshine. I agree I could get used to fall year round. :) Rolling in the Deep was fun, and short- a nice summer read.Delete
I didn't get up north nearly as much as I would have liked this year. And yes the Old Mission peninsula is great- and you can do it in a day (or even less). I recommend the Bad Dog Deli for lunch :) they have good sandwiches, and the Peninsula MArket next door is nice. And if you drive to the tip of the peninsula there's a nice park and lighthouse, and depending on water level you can walk WAY out.
Thank you, I like how it looks a lot better!
Fall is really my favorite time of year. I can't wait for all things pumpkin. The weather is weird around here since we are suppose to get a tropical storm of some sort but no one has an answer to what it's suppose to actually do. Yesterday we noticed at 7 it was getting dark. The long nights are almost over. I actually love when it gets dark early. Gets me in a scary movie mood and then the holidays are coming! YAY! ;)ReplyDelete
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
Me too, i love fall. Hope the storm is passing well clear of you guys- those things are such a pain.Delete
I look forward to the holidays too around this time of year.
The blog looks great! Rolling in the Deep sounds interesting, I will check it out. Thanks for the artwork. It is one of my favorite parts of your Sunday Post every week. Have a spectacular week. :)ReplyDelete
Thank you! Rolling in the Deep was quite fun- NASTY mermaids. Yikes. And thank you for the kind words about the artwork-I do like showcasing some of these digital artists especially who otherwise might not be seen.Delete
I am loving the cooler temps already. Though I think we are supposed to be back up in the 90s later this week! Love Fall weather :)ReplyDelete
Night School looks like an excellent read, I'll have to check it out.
Yay for Winds of Winter!!! Is there a release date yet? My husband and I binged the series this month on HBOgo and I'm getting ready to start reading. Not sure why I waited so long on this one!
Hope you have a great week Greg!
Yeah cooler is better. :) We're still warm here though too, but at least the humidity has died down some. I liked Night School. It was good, much better than I expected. If it keeps up I'll read all 5 books.Delete
I hope you like Game of Thrones. I think the books are great, and no there is no for Winds of Winter yet, but there are 7 or so chapters he's released and I liked finding the audio narrations of them.
I absolutely can't wait for fall. I love the weather and of course pumpkin everything. I love all your pictures you added. I hope you have a wonderful week!ReplyDelete
Thanks, and yeah fall rules! And yes pumpkin everything! Especially those lattes- keep 'em coming. :)Delete
It's a lovely day out--well, the sun isn't out yet, but it's nice and cool. I love the fall. It's my favorite season. I like to pretend my birthday is in fall even though technically it still falls under summer. Close enough though. :-)ReplyDelete
Good for you staying away from Netflix. I haven't been so good. Being off a couple days from work sick, didn't help. I am watching The first season of The Messengers right now. It's not too original, to be honest, and is only okay. But I keep watching it . . . Rolling in the Deep sounds a bit different. Nasty mermaids, huh? I'll have to check that one out.
I hope you have a great week, Greg!
Yeah, close enough. :) It's your birthday, you get to decide lol. I have been much better about Netflix, but honestly it's because I'm between shows rather than any restraint on my part. Rolling in the Deep is a novella so it's short, but man- nasty doesn't even begin to cover these mermaids!Delete
Night School by Daughtery (something like that)? I've read book one, but the rest of the series was never published by a USA publisher. I liked Vicarious a lot though. :DReplyDelete
Have a fantastic week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yes, that's the one. CJ Daugherty. I think they're available now, at least on Kindle I just downloaded book 2.Delete
It's always funny when I see someone talk about Lake Michigan because it makes me feel like they're right near me. Of course, Lake Michigan is HUGE and you live in a completely different state! :-)ReplyDelete
Love the picture of the floating village!
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Lake Michigan IS huge and I do the same thing. Sometimes if they mention the lake I'm like oh you're close by. Um, no not necessarily! And I love that pic too- a floating village always gets me!Delete
Love, love, love the fall! It seems almost magical... but then comes snow, snow, snow, which I don't really care for because I have to work in it during the day!ReplyDelete
Loved the Night School video. I had never heard of the series, but immediately downloaded the first book after reading a sample of it. Looks to be my kind of story. Thanks for sharing!
I totally agree. Yay for fall, not so much for winter. :) And there is something magical about fall, especially if you live somewhere where you actually get the change of season.Delete
I liked night school, hope you do too. Nice that the first book was free, a no risk way to try. :)
OH I enjoyed the Night Circus books!! I'm excited (cautiously optimistic) about a movie.ReplyDelete
And I love Lindsey Sterling. She is so cool! Her video with Pentatonix for their cover of Radioactive is super awesome!
Have a great week!
I love the sunset picture. And although I do really like Nicky, I was crushed about Marie.ReplyDelete
I loved that Lindsey Stirling video!ReplyDelete
Lauren @ Always Me
I noticed my pecan trees are dropping a few leaves already. A sign fall is coming. Great pics again, Greg. Thanks for sharing those for the sand dunes and the video of Lake Michigan. Brings back some great memories!ReplyDelete
My Sunday Post
I love all the Fall colors, and the smell of burning leaves. Enjoy the cider and pumpkins :)ReplyDelete
It's September, school has started throughout the entire country and this week there will be some hot temperatures and sunny days. Poor kids, haha.ReplyDelete
I like the shorter days in Fall/Winter because it is a perfect excuse to go to bed earlier, haha.
Lovely sunset pic of the pier. It's funny hearing you say about welcoming in the fall with your summer over. We are welcoming in spring here in Australia. I am glad to say goodbye to winter! On the book front the Incident at the Lake looks like a great read to me.ReplyDelete
Have a great week!
Amanda @ Mrs B's Book Reviews
I love the smell of burning leaves too! Great pics! I love fall -- bring it on.ReplyDelete
Yes... I'm with you Greg in loving the smell of burning leaves. Though it's a bit soon for that - having said that, I can't quite believe that we have rose bushes laden with hips and the berries seem to be very early this year. We are supposed to be having another warm spell, which would be fabulous - any kind of Indian summer that shortens the long winter we endure and I loathe more every year has to be a winner! As ever, loved your art examples and the Night School video is intriguing - this is a series I haven't encountered and it looks like I should. Have a great week and many thanks for swinging by my post.ReplyDelete
What great images in your post! I enjoy the cooler mornings that come with fall but I'm still enjoying the warm days. Not at all looking forward to winter which lasts way too long here in Minnesota. Come see what I accomplished last week here. Happy reading!ReplyDelete
I love the cover for Truly Madly Guilty. And some great art you're featuring there!ReplyDelete
My It's Monday! What Are You Reading? post.
I've got Night School sitting on my TBR shelf. I need to get to it! I haven't read any of the Moriarty books. Did you enjoy that one? Thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post earlier. I see you also did a cover characteristic post. I didn't know if there was a theme for this week since I didn't get to it last week. Guess I need to try to join in again!ReplyDelete
I'm so ready for autumn - it sounds like you are too! Love the sunset photo!ReplyDelete
I hope you enjoy all your upcoming reads :-)
Fall has hit us in a big way - now it'll be grey and rainy until, oh I don't know, next June? ;)ReplyDelete
I saw the latest Bourne trailer before Suicide Squad and OMG it looked so good on the big screen, I really hope I'll find the time to go watch it, so many good movies coming out, I can't wait!ReplyDelete
Gorgeous photos! I haven't read much the past couple of weeks, but I am loving the crisp, cool overnight temps and the hints of fall colors in the trees. Maybe I'll have my first PSL of the season this week, too :)ReplyDelete
As much as I was longing for summer a few months ago, I'm ready for fall now :) I love the cooler nights and the changing leaves. It's so beautiful when nature gives us a last colorful show before winter.ReplyDelete
I hope you're having a great week, Greg.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Fall is my favorite time of the year so I'm definitely looking forward to all the Fall things ♥ And yes I like the smell of burning leaves! This Summer was really humid and my body doesn't handle humidity very well so I'm excited for cooler nights, colourful leaves and all that fun stuff :D Oh man, that dungeon fantasy art is super eerie with that creepy figure coming to meet the group O.O Have a wonderful week Greg!!ReplyDelete
Yay! Starlit Citadel! I had never heard of this channel before but I'm always on the look out for youtube channels that show you how to play board games.ReplyDelete
And I'm excited about fall too. I knew it was here the minute all the pumpkin stuff invaded the shelves at the supermarket. Pumpkin Pie Poptarts are a thing now.
I love the turning of the seasons. And the smell of autumn is definitely here, too. We sat outside today and the wind picked up and blew some leaves around and it felt really nice. High summer is not my favourite time of the year (too hot), so I'm very excited about colder days.ReplyDelete
Fall is definitely a great season. I love it. That's an awesome picture of the sunset off the lake! Gorgeous. I need to read The Incident on the Bridge. I have it, but haven't gotten to it yet. Happy reading!ReplyDelete
I always like it when it changes seasons as by then I usually have enough of the current one. Here it still feels like summer too, so I hope we get some cooler weather soon. Nice sunset pic! I hope you're having a great week!ReplyDelete
