Cover Characteristics #21

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- ?

This week the host is off so I guess it's a freebie week. My topic is covers with a faerie element- since I'm doing a discussion post on Tuesday about the fae folk it seemed like a natural pick. I'm in that mindset anyway... so let's see what we have.

The Cats of Tanglewood Forest is a favorite of mine, and although there are no faeries on the cover they play a prominent role in the story. Artwork is by Charles Vess who kinda specializes in this kind of artwork- his site is worth a look.

I like this cover it seems to have an enchanted feel to it.

No idea what this is about but it's a faery tale apparently and it's Holly Black.

This has a ethereal sort of vibe to it, not a bad cover. Looks YA- ish.

I started this book once but never finished- not because it wasn't good, but just because I got sidetracked. It was sort of alternate history with Victorian era stuff if I remember. I should go back.

Again no ideas on this one but love the cover.

This looks like a classic book on faeries and bonus- art is by Alan Lee (known for his Lord of the Rings work).

I have no idea if this is even a faerie book but the title and cover both look like they have that vibe. I'm going with it.

  4. I love your choice for the freebie! I love faerie covers though I don't read nearly enough books that feature them.

Since you've been thinking about reading Urban Fantasy - I like Kalayna Price's Alex Craft series which features some interesting Fae characters!

  6. Haha, I see you're becoming like me and making your own topics! I like the topic you chose, and it is perfect since you're doing the discussion this week :-) And these are so pretty! Where did you find those Rachel Morgan covers?? I have all the ebooks, it's a great series, I think you might like it actually, but I've never seen those covers! I also really like The Faerie Path, The Faerie Ring, Tithe, and Nightshade covers. Faeries name for good covers I guess since they're usually so beautiful and magical.

    1. Yeah I had to come up with something or skip the week. Thanks! I thought it would flow well into tomorrow's post. :)

I just kinda stumbled on those Rachel Morgan covers, I noticed there were multiple covers for those and I liked these the best. I like the same ones, Nightshade is probably my favorite. I like the color and the drop of blood is a nice touch! I'm curious about those magazines too. :)
