Cover Characteristics #17

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Gargoyles

Gargoyles- creatures of stone that perch on high, staring sightlessly down on mortal affairs...but what would happen if one stirred? The gargoyles are creatures of shadow and stone, as one of our titles this week suggests.

 Of Shadow and Stone

This one is okay, not my favorite but I do like her looking forward and the suggestion of a storm.

I assume that's a gargoyle. This is an old school cover and I do like the drinking horn?

This one is amazing, with a nasty looking gargoyle perched up high- I think from the blazing eyes we can assume this is not a friendly gargoyle!

I've used this cover before but here it is again- this time for the gargoyles. I like this one a lot, especially with the moon in the background.

Of Shadow and Stone

This cover is awesome and easily my favorite. The moon, the girl leaning over with the wind in her hair, the gargoyle- I love this cover.

  1. I love the Michelle Muto cover the best too. That moon adds an extra element of creepy. LOL Thanks for dropping by my blog.

  2. Gargoyles! While reading this post I just kept thinking about how much I loved that show as a kid. There isn't enough books/shows/movies about gargoyles! Or I haven't seen them I guess. I love that cover for Of Shadow and Stone. It's kind of gothic looking and I love that! :D

  3. Gargoyles, we don't get too many of them. I like the Muto cover the best too, but the Newman covers are stunning.

  5. I can't really pick one. I've been a fan of gargoyles since I was little. It makes me think I should add one. Hmm... can a gargoyle fit into a Midwest Gothic novel?

  6. Wow, you found a lot too! Obviously I love Of Shadow and Stone. I'm pretty sure that's just everyone's favorite this week, haha. I also like Spellwright because, you know, glowy magic lol. It actually took me a moment to find the gargoyles in the Emma Newman books, but I do love those covers! I also like the look of the gargoyle on In the Green Star's Glow. And I'm curious what's going on there.

    1. Yeah Shadows and Stone is amazing, love that cover. And glowy magic- LOL. It's a nice cover too. The Emma Newman covers are quite good, they have a certain quality- I just like that cover design.

I'm not sure what's going on in Green Star but it is interesting. Interesting title too.
