Sunday Post #359

I wasn't going to do a Sunday Post this week since I was on vacation and totally unplugged, but I'm home and I thought- why not? I'll just throw a quick one up, no images or the usual bells and whistles, just a quick check- in. How are y'all? I'm red- as in sunburned. Ridiculously so. And let me tell you- tent camping is a whole different thing. If you're 20 and adaptable, knock yourself out. If, on the other hand, you're like me and your idea of roughing it is a nice hotel- well, think twice. :) It was fun, though, in spite of the RAIN. Yes, storms rolled through twice, on the day we arrived and then again the night before we left. Tent camping in rain sucks.

There was fun to be had, though, and I'll have all the details (and pics) next week. I did get to go kayaking, and got sunburned- did I mention that?- and now I can recover! The other awesome thing is- I have heard NO news. In four days. Trump's latest outrage, the Covid developments, whatever- I have heard nothing. And it was glorious. I'm so relaxed! And speaking of Covid, we masked up and distanced as much as possible, and it was a mixed bag up there really- I'll cover all that later as well. For now, though, I'm glad to be home, and I hope you all are well!

  1. Glad it was enjoyable. Camping in a tent to me is not appealing in the least but I can totally relate to unplugging from the news - but just wait until you get caught up. You just might want to run as fast as you can back to the tent in the rain! Hope you have a great week :)

  2. Unplugging is the best thing sometimes. I'm glad you found it an enjoyable part of your vacation. I would never go camping myself. I get too cold outside lol.

  3. Glad to hear you had a good trip, even with the sunburn. And I have to say no news sounds positively glorious!

  4. So glad your family went and had a great time away. Sorry about the rain. We have been trying to unplug from all news on weekends as well and it is wonderful.

  5. Taking a break is soooo good for our mental health. Too bad about the sunburn. I hope you can put some refreshing cream so that you're not too uncomfortable. I had a great week. My reading corner is finally set up! I have pics up so come take a sneak peek.

  6. I was in Montana and got burnt too! Yeah, in my 20s and 30s I was more adventurous. We did a lot of backpacking and sometimes I get the urge to do that, but then I think of all the work and it gets put on the back burner, lol. Tent cabining in the rain probably wouldn't be fun. It's not fun when traditional camping for sure. Glad to hear you had some fun kayaking even with getting burned. And yes, being away from the news feed is relaxing! Glad to hear you enjoyed being away and unplugged. I look forward to your pics, Greg!

  7. So good to hear you got away and being unplugged does much for the spirit - turning it all off is a good idea. Ah yes camping when it rains really sucks. The kayaking sounds great though.

  8. Happy to hear you still had fun! I used to tent camp a lot back in the day, but I think it would kill me now. 😅

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

  9. 4 days without news sounds good to me! I am not a camper unfortunately. I think my husband would like me to be, but oh well, I can't be perfect right?

I hope you recover from your sunburn soon!

  10. Getting away from everything sounds really good right now! Glad it was a great trip, despite the rain!

  11. Oh, getting away from everything sounds wonderful! Except for the burn, of course.

Enjoy your upcoming week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  12. I’m glad you had fun. We caved a year or two ago and bought a queen size camping bed for our tent. We decided we were far too oLd to be sleeping a few inches off the ground on a cheap blow up bed.

Wishing you a great reading week

  13. Congrats on getting through a tent camp vacation! I probably would lose my mind😁

  14. Kayaking, how fun! I tent camped twice in my life. Once to get my camper certification as a Girl Scout leader (it rained and hailed) and once as the camp leader for an overnight. Needless to say it's not something I ever want to do again, but I do love unplugging and lake vacations are always lovely

  15. I'm glad you had fun, minus getting so burnt and having to deal with rain. I could not go tent camping. LOL It does sound super lovely to get away and not hear the news. Ahhhh bliss.

  16. That sucks you got burnt, it’s usually wind that gets me, I’ll be by the sea and before I know it my face is as red as my hair.

I’ve only camped twice in my life and it was two times too many, I’d prefer a rustic cabin I think.

At least you managed to get away and relax, look forward to seeing your pics next week.

    Have a good week.

  17. I have only been tent camping once. In the early spring. It snowed. We had a borrowed tent and the tent pole collapsed. I was young and still hated the whole experience. I can't imagine anything that would compel me to do that again! Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  18. Camping + tents + rain? You're a brave man, Greg. LOL All three of those are hard passes for me but together? Nope, find me the nearest Hilton. :) Glad you had fun, though, and that the unplugged time away was a nice break.

  19. Tent camping in the rain does suck! Glad you had a good time despite that. Any break from the news and what's going on in the world is such a welcome one right now. Have a great week! :)

  20. Oh n, get some aloe vera gel for the sunburn. Towels dipped in cold water will also help with the pain. I used to like tent camping when I was a teenager but I'm 50 now and I have to have a cabin with a real bed and running water. lol

  21. Oh no about the storms! That's definitely not fun. I'm not much of a camper myself in general, haha. No news for four days does sound delightful, though.

  22. I tried one camping and it wasn't my thing lol but I'm glad you had fun and hope the sunburn will pass soon

  23. Haha, tent camping was so much easier when I was a kid. Now I wake up sore after sleeping on the ground. It sounds like you had a relaxing trip, though. Have a great week!

  24. Aww it looks really nice! I mean, not worth the tent thing, but still nice! I am also sunburned though, so I feel you there. At this point i think my body just rejects sunlight outright.

The Day the Earth Froze, this should be your inspiration to watch Snowpiercer, that is the plot! Oh and I am thinking about your not having consumed news for days. I'd be scared! I mean, there was a very real chance you could have come back to... Idk, nothing I can make up can be as bad as the actual news, so 😂

  25. To be completely unplugged like that sounds like a dream!

  26. "Yes, storms rolled through twice, on the day we arrived and then again the night before we left."
It sounds like a very peculiar brand of...hey, hello - hey, goodbye! LOL. Glad you had a nice vacation despite that (and the sunburn...and not being 20 anymore! 😂). Looking forward to those pics and tales 🙂.

  27. My idea of roughing it is a nice 3 or 4 star hotel with room service and a view over water! Four days of not hearing the screeches of the First Minister of Scotland blaming England for everything going wrong in Scotland would be a great reason to go camping!

  28. So glad you enjoyed your trip! I got sunburned yesterday so I feel you. Lol.
