Sunday Post #324

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It feels like full- on winter here. We have snow on the ground (just a little) and it's been cold all week (30's/ low single digits C). Looks like January! Although today the sun is out and it's a little nicer, so maybe we have a thaw lol. In other news, SciFi Month is rolling along- hard to believe it (and November in general) are half over. Are you following SciFi Month at all? You can find the schedule here if you want to see everyone's posts. I sadly have not posted anything yet- it's one of those months- but I did post my second Star Wars fanfiction this week. It's called An Old Friend, and picks up where my last one left off- with Luke re- entering the Dark side cave. Because that would be fun, right?

  1. Snow! Well, it sounds cool to me, but I've only been in snow a handful of times in my life. Stay warm, Greg!

    1. Haha that would be something! I sometimes wonder, having grown up with it, what it would be like to only see snow occasionally.

  2. I don't know where you are exactly, but snow? already?

We're dealing with rain here - LOTS of rain. Like, it's been raining almost nonstop for 3 weeks now...

Bummer - I was looking forward to your Sci-Fi Month posts. I did read your Star Wars story though, and I hope you'll manage to squeeze a few more themed posts before it's over!

    1. I'm in Michigan, and yes... it's way too early!

Yikes. I hate the gray, rainy days...

Aw thank you! I do have a few coming up, hopefully, that I can squeeze in before it's over!

  3. I've read ONE book for SF month! Trying to juggle three different challenges in one month has proved a bit too much! I still hope to look at the other four books I've set aside for this though, fingers crossed!

ALso, we lost our snow :/

    1. It is! And since I wrote this our snow has mostly disappeared too- we had a warmer day yesterday. :)

  5. Wow, sounds like you skipped fall and went right on to winter. Brrr! I had to laugh at the "romantic" comic covers with the underwater kissing. Seems mighty unromantic to me... I'd be gasping for air. LOL

  6. I'm really hoping we get snow again this year but it's been around 80F here this week so it won't be anytime soon.

    1. You know I complain about the heat but when it gets cold here 80 sounds pretty nice. :)

    2. Oh I complain about the heat all Summer long and love it when it finally cools down here.

  7. It was 19 degrees here in Texas last week. Can you believe it?? Sadly, there was no snow, but everything has been suuuper icy in the mornings. I don't have a windshield scraper, so I get up early and start the car so it can defrost before I have to take my son to school.

It's been one of those months for me too! It's why I haven't been able to do much blog visiting. My son was sick, then I was sick, and then he got sick again -- ugh. Plus, there's just SO MUCH TO DO during this time of the year.

I didn't know you were writing fan fiction! Exciting! :)

    1. Also, I'm VERY curious about your thoughts on Wilder Girls and Songs from the Deep!

    2. 19 in TX? Wow. And yeah this time of year is super busy. I saw on Twitter you were sick. Hope you guys are feeling better!

Dude, I'm halfway through Wilder Girls and that book is a TRIP.

  8. Lucky you weren't in the part of MI that got all the snow. They got hammered. It was really cold here this week. Like in the teens, when I was walking to the bus stop, but it's better today. This time last year we had a horrible snow storm, so at least that didn't happen, right? Glad the sanitation workers were able to continue their work without their, er, arm.

    1. Yikes teens are the worst. We got 30's and I was freezing! And right? Once is enough with the garbage mishaps, methinks! :):)

  9. The first part of the week was super cold and we had a dusting of snow - was pretty icy though. Thursday and Friday warmed up. 50s this weekend.

    1. It's been warmer here too- relatively speaking. Still cold at night though. Where's my fall? wahhh!!!!

  10. Wow 30's?!!! Talk about freezing cold! I love Star Wars! Great Yoda pic. He's my favorite :). I'm glad you're enjoying sci-fi month, even though you've got a lot going on. Stay warm!

  11. A lot of dark and gloomy art pieces this week, normally I'd love that, but with the horrendously cold weather I could use some bright and cheery! At least we didn't get snow though lol! Stay warm!

  14. Blimey - snow?? That seems a very steep change from the warm weather you were having in October, or is that just my Brit ignorance talking?

Yes - I've been loving SciFiMonth and craftily saved up a lot of books I'd read and reviewed to post. But hasn't there been some wonderful sci fi goodness out there? As for your pulp covers - hilarious! It certainly puts a new spin on the phrase 'coming up for air'. Have a great week, Greg:)

  15. It's becoming cold way too quickly here too. I mean it means it's cozy at home, but it makes me want to never step a foot outside again, so that's not great. :D Another round of amazing graphics! I like the cityscapes, especially the one with the snow (ironically) and the one in the alley with the laundry - makes me want to write something dystopian. I'm doing Nano this month, but I also wrote a fanfic a few days ago for the first time in years haha Have a good week, Greg!

  16. I love the fishing outpost artwork. I’d definitely read a book set in that world. I hope the snow melts and you have a good week!

  17. Snow sounds perfect to me!
Here is sunny, again! At least it's not so hot anymore.
It's like our whole planet went mad. I don't remember ever that sunny weather was so looong, ever. It should be winter already!
I have to admit, I don't follow sci fi month.

    ReplyDelete
  18. We thankfully only got a dusting of snow then it warmed up a bit! Though I think it was just a tease as it looks like this week is going to be a bit cold again. :(

Enjoy your new arrival! Happy reading and stay warm!

  19. We had cold temps and snow flurries here this week and I was not happy about it. I need fall to stick around for just a while longer before the bottom falls out of the temps.

Hope you have fun with sci-fi month!

  20. I have seen several bloggers and authors talking about snow Greg! So far not a speck here!

  21. Seems we all got some early winter this year. Guess it won´t last long and around christmas, when we wish for it, there is none *lol*. Happy reading and have fun with the Sci-fi month.

  22. I’m too busy with #nonficnov, but I did happen to notice the other day that I haven’t read a single sci fi book this year, so I’m going to try and squeeze one in.

Wishing you a great reading week

  23. Has the snow by you finally melted?? It's almost gone over here and then we're back to the high 40s.

  24. I hope you are staying safe and warm. I won't tell you about my weather, other than to say the fog has been bad in the mornings as of late, which makes driving dangerous. I do not think I will be fitting in any science fiction this month, sadly. My reading has kind of fell off a bit as it is. I hope you have a great week, Greg.

  25. I can't believe winter came so early!! I always have the best of intentions during fantasy or scifi month and I can't get my act together.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Have you watched The Mandalorian on Disney + yet?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Love the pics Greg! The weather has been freakishly cold here too. It’s not conducive to blogging as I want to curl up in a blanket.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We have the same crazy weather! I haven't done anything for sci-fi month either. I have a time travel novel coming up that could be considered partly sci-fi / fantasy. Enjoy your week!

    ReplyDelete
  29. We were supposed to have snow last week, too, but it ended up just being a few flakes, thankfully! It's supposed to warm up a smidge at least for a few days.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ugh, snow. I'm so not ready! Lol I'm glad the trash collection went well this week 😄. Stay warm Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  31. We got snow here as well, but my husband and I were in Cancun, so we missed most of it. That chart of the distant future is definitely trippy!

  32. I missed the early snow storm, thankfully!! It is almost gone now that I am home, but it will return. :(. Looks like we will get a bit of a warm up. Have a great week.

  33. I can't believe you have winter already! Can you believe it's 82 degrees here at 5pm? We're supposed to be 90 degrees tomorrow, but dropping down to the 60s by Wednesday. Southern California is just crazy. Those "romantic" covers are too funny! :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Lovin' all the pulp covers! I live in Canada so winter started two months ago. Lol. We had a break and melted some snow but now, it's cold again.

    Have a great week, Greg!

  35. Love the Encounter at Sunrise. Reminds me of the Leshen I had to fight in Witcher 3. :D

  36. I've been talking about our heat wave here, but last week, NC had what's considered cold weather in the 40's. I was happy of course, but I've lived in North Dakota back in the day, so I wouldn't mind 15-25 degree weather, please(lol). Something about cold weather gives me lots more energy. This week, we'll be back in the 60's and I'm scratching my head, Gorgeous Greg! (lol) Hugs, RO

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, we were just saying that all that snow on the ground and the temps made us think it was January. Got a little melt yesterday which was nice.
Oh cool that you wrote a fanfic piece.
    I like the Encounter.

    Have a good week, Greg!

  38. This snow is crazy town! We have so much. I had to wear my tall winter boots the other day even!

Have a great week, stay warm! Enjoy the early winter. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It doesn't snow here, except on rare occasions...but we are an hour from the snowy mountains, so that works for me.

Enjoy your week and your books.

  40. It seemed like for a while we were skipping Fall completely but things seem to be a tad bit back to normal now. I love the art for Rooftop Pursuit - so many things to look at.

  41. I feel like winter hit this week. We had the first sprinkling of snow last week and the temperature has plummeted. I am enjoying cosy scarves and wearing gloves. I am enjoying curling up in blankets and reading though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Your weather sounds like ours. I am not paying attention to science fiction this month but the newest by Lee and Miller is calling out to me for a reread before it is published the first week in December. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love the romantic covers but I think the murdery ones are my favorite! That seems way to cold. I've been complaining about the 50s! Snow - no matter how light - would probably make me flat out cry! Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Those romantic comic covers are fun and remind me of comics of the past. Ouch to snow although I think I'd enjoy that!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh, how I love snow. I wish we got snow more regularly. I remember when I was a kid, it was pretty regular from this point through to Feb/March but now I live in the south of England (instead of Scotland) and rarely see some. I celebrate when I do though!

Hope you have a good week Greg!
