Sunday Post #98 Happy 4th of July!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This was a good week. I got a bit of reading in, and am gearing up for the 4th of July weekend.
This week is also the COYER Red, White and Blue RAT. I'm not participating in it since it looks like a busy week- but I'll be cheering on the participants as much as I can. Remember to hit #COYER to see progress.

I still haven't seen Jurassic World yet- maybe this weekend?

Happy 4th of July to all those in the US!

Join Megan at Reading Away The Days as she does a virtual road trip of the US, all through July.

  1. I've been really enjoying the virtual tour. It's fun learning new things about the different states. I'll be curious to see what you think about the new Rutherford Park book. Hopefully the 2nd book was just a victim of 2nd book-itis. Have a great week and a happy 4th!

    1. I have too! It's a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with down the road. I hope so too about RP- loved the first one, the 2nd- not so much.

  2. Happy 4th of July! :) I've seen a lot of flags around the internet in the past couple of days, it's always funny to see so much excitement for a holiday we don't celebrate (Thanksgiving is another one of these).
I haven't seen Jurassic World either, I'll have to change that soon!

    1. Thanks! I always wonder as an American what's it like in other countries to see all the hullabaloo about our holidays. :) Anyway have a great weekend, and enjoy Jurassic if you see it. I want to!

  3. Happy 4th! I haven't seen Jurassic World yet either but I think I am more excited to see the movies Pixel. I'm not a big movie person but that looks like something I would enjoy :)

Have a great week Greg! PS I am not doing the RW&B Rat either, I just don't read fast enough to do all the readathons.

    1. I haven't seen much about Pixel, I'll have to take a look. Sounds fun though. :)

I'd like to do the readathon but just too much- I wanted to do more w/ COYER this year, so I'm trying to ramp up my reviews and maybe I'll do one of the RAT's down the road. I am enjoying all the reviews this time!

  6. Happy 4th! I really want to try the Blackbird book, it has such a cool premise and 2nd person is extremely rare in books. I hope you have an awesome week Greg.

  7. I'm ashamed to say I haven't read Little Big Lies, despite the fact it's by an Australian author and loved by many. I'll have to buy it I think.

I don't mind books in second person - they can often be ultra-engaging!

  8. I have Big Little Lies since it came out in hardback and now I know it is out in paperback, but I do have it scheduled for reading this year!! Happy July 4th and happy grilling!

  9. I didn't realize Tasha Alexander has a new book out. I need to find that! And you got some other good looking books as well. I used to listen to Hearts of Space, but kind of lost track of it. I'll have to check out the clip.

I hope you had a good Fourth, Greg, and that the next week is a good one for you.

    1. Sure! I'm trying to get to them all, but I keep adding more. I know, join the club right? :) I have been pretty excited about my current crop though- for a while there I wasn't sure what to read next, now I can't get through them all. Good problem to have I guess tho.

  13. Happy 4th of July and I hope you had a great day. It is nice to relax outside with a BBQ. I watched Jurassic World and really liked it. It is a fun movie so I hope you like it. I'm participating in the COYER RAT this week but I'll probably just get 2 books read. The virtual road trip sounds fun so I'll have to check it out. Have a great week!

  14. I know I can always find unusual and fun topics here on your blog, Greg. From pizza farms to stylish sci-fi covers, good stuff :) I am reading my first Leslie Budewitz book, the first in her spice shop mysteries and I like her writing style so will definitely be picking up her other series and the book you have. Have a great reading and family week!

  15. I haven't seen Jurassic World yet, either. Usually my son will go with me to movies, even if he has already seen it with his friends, but he said once was enough with this one. I have been trying to pin down a time to see it with my sister, but it hasn't been easy. I will be back to read your Deadfall review I had no idea it was written in SP. I love your cover posts, too. I think you should write a choose-the-next-step blog story because it sounds like great fun. Have a fab week. :)

  16. Hope you have been enjoying the 4th weekend. It's been great here with great weather.

I've been wanting to read Big Little Lies for awhile. Enjoy your reading and have a great week!

  17. I loved the Choose your own adventure growing up. I had one a couple years ago that was really thick compared to the once I had growing up..they have gotten a bit more complex. :) Hope you had a great 4th and thanks for stopping by my blog!

  18. Oh my goodness. Choose your own adventure takes me way back! I always died. Same with the Oregon Trail. It makes me question my survival skills! We say Jurassic World a few weeks ago. We had a lot of fun! Last week a local music hall showed the original Jurassic Park for free. They turned the speakers up so loud, the water was shaking in our cups. It felt like we were living the movie. :-) Enjoy your week!

    1. I know, doesn't it? I couldn't believe those books were still around. They're probably kinda goofy now, but still... memories. :)

How fun to see Jurassic Park like that. That would be blast. I can't wait to see the new one...

  19. I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books when I was a kid! Nice to see they are still around :)

I thought Big Little Lies was fantastic. Even better than The Husband's Secret. She is becoming one of my favorite authors and definitely an auto buy for my library's fiction collection.

I hope you had a nice 4th of July! I got to do some grilling (indoors) and though it rained on Friday at least Saturday was nice and sunny.

  20. Hope the weather was good for your 4th of July celebrations. It's getting very chilly here but the days warm up so we BBQ'd and picked strawberries. Big Little Lies was great, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Have a great week and happy reading :)

  21. I've still got the first Rutherford Park book on my wish list...need to get going!
Big Little Lies was great. Hope you like it, too!

  22. Hi Greg,
It looks like a great week! I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July weekend :D I hope you enjoy The Gates of Rutherford when you get around to reading it, it's got a really nice cover! Thank you for visiting my blog :D
    Have a great week,

  23. Like you, I'm not participating in the red, white and blue COYER challenge, Greg. I spend most of my time outside, and while I do get to read quite a bit, I don't spend as much time online as usual.

I love the cover for Big Little Lies, hopefully the story is as good as the picture on the front :)

Have a fantastic week and happy reading.

  24. Ooo.. I look forward to hearing about Chu's book. It's been a nice weekend here for us, an extra day off to *try* and relax. lol. Do hope you got to have some great grilled foods. :) Have a great week!

  25. Chu's book, the Ellery Adams mystery, and the new Tasha Alexander all look very enticing! I need to catch up with the rest of the Tasha Alexander series, too.

I'm not doing the RWB readathon either - I'm still trying to catch up after vacation, and there's a lot to do for both the house and the blog. I've got about 5 reviews I need to write, and a book to finish for a tour.

I hope you have a terrific week!
