I am feeling a lot better this week and the most interesting thing that happened is... my refrigerator is on it's way out. It's making some distressing noises and the door is also super loose. It's an old fridge. So I bought a new one and it won't be delivered until... July 26th. TWO weeks. Gah. Thanks everyone for the well wishes last week!
I bought the Original Series of Star Trek on Blu-ray so I'm doing a watch a thon of all the original episodes. I don't think I've ever seen all of them and what's more, I had no idea that they remastered them a while back. They tweaked the special effects and unlike Star Wars, they didn't change the story, they just touched up the effects that were looking a little... bad there. I'm skeptical of such things but the kicker is- you can toggle back and forth between the old and new effects. They just didn't ditch the older effects. And I'm finding that I love the new look!
Okay walking tours this week. It's all South Korea this time. The first one is just a nice walk and the second is a beautiful beach walk. I have another one below that is a beautiful beachside walk and then some shops overlooking the water. And then another episode of Let's Play- Sea of Thieves.
I'm liking the idea of sharing a tweet occasionally to generate discussion.

BOOKISH LINKS
I had no idea they did that to TOS either - I might have to check that out to see what it looks like! :)
ReplyDeleteI have always liked Star trek and all the spin offs. I'm glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks without a fridge! I'm not sure what I would do, but I hope you can survive until then. I'm glad you're feeling better this week as well.
ReplyDeleteYay that you're feeling much better! Very cool that you grabbed Star Trek from back in the day. My all time fave is The Trouble with Tribbles from season 2. I tell you, William Shatner was something else back then.(lol) What's going on that we're wanting to back to the old days to look at tv programs, huh?(lol) Mine is definitely Miami Vice and Columbo. There was something on Youtube about a lady who ordered this super expensive refrigerator that had all these bells and whistles, and it took forever to get delivered. The day of delivery, 2 delivery guys were moving this massive refrigerator, and one guy took over. I don't have to tell you that he dropped it and it was ruined! They tried to lie and said it was damaged in route, but the lady had it right there on her video camera for the world to see.(lol) The next one came a lot faster. I'm sorry you have to wait so long, but hope all will be well until then. Sending lots of hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteFun to walk in a different country😁 Glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteIm happy you're feeling better and really hoping your old fridge can hang on for two more weeks!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better! I've been dipping into the first season of Star Trek this summer; I just finished watching Mudd's Women. Very fun. Fingers crossed your old fridge holds out until your new one arrives!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling so much better. I've been away blogging this week for a variety of reasons, but hoping today will be a catch up day.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're enjoying your weekend, Greg!
Glad you are feeling better. Two weeks is so long to wait, but I love getting new appliances (I am a very exciting person). I had no idea they remastered and changed Star Wars. Color me surprised! I like that they let you toggle with Star Trek. Hope you are enjoying the rewatch
ReplyDeleteI need to keep those blu-rays in mind... I can never think of what to buy my dad, and Star Trek is always a reliable choice, heh.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better. I bought my husband the remastered Original Star Trek series a few years ago and we've watched it over and over. That's his favorite of all the series, though I am a bit more partial to Star Trek: Voyager and the new movies :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading and have a great week!

You've gotten me hooked on those walking videos! My favorites are the ones where people take you grocery shopping with them. I find it oddly relaxing. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love these walking videos! I'd never have known they were a thing until you! So thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteThose walks look excellent. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that the old fridge holds on two weeks! Glad you're feeling better. We did a Star Trek movie marathon a few years ago and it was such fun. Love the walking videos! I have discovered through many many rounds of Geoguessr that I think non-Tokyo Japan is South Korea. It happens every single time. I need to spend some more time on walk throughs! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI bought Star Trek on Blu-ray a couple of years, but I've only watched a handful of episodes of it.
ReplyDeleteI hope your old frig makes it two more weeks! I love new appliances. Over the past couple of years we've replaced all of our kitchen appliances so they match, all chrome. Looks cool! Glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better! Keep us updated on the fridge arrival!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are feeling better, Greg and that you have been taken comfort in classic Star Trek like me.🖖 Take care and happy reading.🙂
ReplyDeleteHopefully your fridge holds out for the next two weeks! Nice to hear you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the Star Trek rewatch! I must admit, I'm not much of a Star Trek fan but I've seen most of them at various points because my husband is. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better!
Good to know things are mending. Two weeks IS a long time for the refrigerator, but at least you'll have a brand one soon and may it last long and healthy. :) And very cool to know that Star Trek has a new look (and old look optional too) -- gives me some incentive to check out that legendary show after all. Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteThat's a long wait for the fridge, but once you have it, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your books and movies, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
Always more of a Star Trek fan than Star Wars...I am glad they tweaked the effects but didn't screw things up and that is cool you can toggle between the old and new effects! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading!

I'm glad you're back to your alive-and-kicking self! Did you buy one of those super-technological fridges that alert you about being out of milk? 😉
ReplyDelete"I'm skeptical of such things but the kicker is- you can toggle back and forth between the old and new effects."
That's cool!
Your blog is amazing
ReplyDeleteGlad you're on the mend! Hope your old refrigerator hangs on long enough for the new one to be delivered!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know you were unwell Greg! So sorry, but I am glad to hear you are feeling better....
ReplyDeleteFridges packing up - why does that always happen in the middle of summer! Good luck and the 26th is what, only two weeks away...!!
Have a good week and take care of yourself!

So happy to hear you're feeling better, Greg! This weekend has been hell for me and my husband because we had the shingles vaccine and it was bad! Worse than the covid vaccine! Finally feeling a little better this morning.
ReplyDeleteMy son's fridge went out a couple of days as well, but his new one is being delivered tomorrow. Two weeks is a long time! That's neat how you can see the difference from old to new with the Star Trek remastering! I didn't know they changed parts of the story with Star Wars! Now I'm wondering which parts?
Glad you're feeling better! The fridge in my house isn't that old I don't think, but this is the first time in over 10 years that I haven't had an icemaker in my fridge, and I like ice in pretty much all my cold drinks. Hope you get your new fridge sooner rather than later!

I hate week longs delivery dates. They can take your money in 5 minutes and take their sweet time giving you the thing you bought. Happy to hear that you are feeling better. I love the walking tour videos. so relaxing.

I've heard that they're are long waits for appliances. Even months. Out here it's been a/c's. We had that heatwave and most people don't even have them or were just waiting to get them serviced or repaired and now there's such a backlog since everyone rushed to get one or get theirs fixed.
ReplyDeleteWe've been on a waitlist for over a month just for general maintenance and they're charging us $180!!! That seems crazy to me but there's nothing we can do.
Those walking tours are really cool :D
ReplyDelete2 weeks! Yikes
Glad you feel much better. Two weeks for a new fridge, that´s long. Stay strong *smile*
ReplyDeleteI've watched the first few episodes of Star Trek and they were... interesting. I much prefer the later versions. But I've never watched a whole season. Only episodes my brother happened to be watching at the time. That sucks about your refrigerator! 2 weeks will be here sooner rather than later at least!
ReplyDeleteI missed last week and didn't realize you weren't feeling well, but I'm glad you're feeling better! Hopefully your new fridge will get there in time!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better, enjoy the Star Trek episodes.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the fridge and happy reading this week. Nice walking tours by the water :)
Ooo, a new fridge! a fancy one, i hope. Happy Star Trek-a-thoning :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope the old fridge lasts until the new one is delivered!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better and best of luck with the fridge! I remember when I had to run to the store every morning before work and buy a bag of ice for the Igloo cooler which was serving as a fridge until I could get a new one. Not fun.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the Star Trek blu ray!
So glad you are feeling much better. Never fun to be sick and especially on vacay. We are there with a washer, hoping it will last until a new one arrives 8 to 10 weeks! Yikes, glad we started looking before it completely died. We wanted to replace our 15 year old hot tub this year and the salesman laughed at us. That is months out. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI've thought of getting the Star Trek blu-rays for my husband, but he prefers to just pull them up on streaming instead of messing with discs. Maybe I'll get them for him if/when the episodes get pulled from whatever streaming service currently has them. - Melinda @ A Web of Stories
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. I'm glad you are better now. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWill be great to have a new fridge. Hope you enjoy Star Trek. Sure will be good.
ReplyDeleteOmigosh I hope your current fridge survives lol!!! I have actually never seen a Star Trek episode... it's on my list of things to eventually watch along with Star Wars lol!
ReplyDeleteThe original Star Trek was my favorite of all the various spin-offs. I would guess that the special effects would be dated after so many years. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better Greg! And what a pain about the fridge! I have heard that there is a delay for appliances but two weeks. Eek!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I didn't know you were feeling poorly Greg! But I am happy to learn that you are better now. Also, the way you put it in your post it's like you sucked the life out of your refrigerator to improve your health LOL
ReplyDeleteThis pandemic has delayed everything it seems from appliances to furniture to new cars. Hopefully your old fridge will hang in there till the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same Star Trek DVDs and they were fun to see what they updated!
ReplyDeleteYay for a new fridge! Sorry it's going to take long, but it'll be worth the wait. New appliances are always fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better Greg!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love those Japan tours, but South Korea is second on my list so I'm eager to check those out.
Hope your new fridge will be there soon!
Walking along Seoul city wall from top of Naksan Park-Dongdaemun was lovely.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better! Wow 2 weeks for a new fridge - is it super custom or something? So cool about the star trek remastering letting you see the old version! That's a great way to do it!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week?
Two weeks without a fridge?! I hope it gets there earlier. Yikes. Sorry you've been feeling so crummy. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteGood old Star Trek. I've been watching the remastered version on Netflix. I'm about halfway through the second season now. Sometimes it's tough but there are some real gems in there. I also love the rerendering of planets and other special effects.
I hope you have a lovely week!
Sending you good thoughts that your fridge lasts until the new one arrives! My freezer has been frosted over for like 6+ months and I really should take care of that at some point haha
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better! I could never get into the original Star Trek. Next Generation was my jam. lol
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better, Greg. I'm sorry about the refrigerator. Maybe by some miracle the new one will come early . . . One can dream, right?
ReplyDeleteI admit I was never a fan of the original Star Trek series, although I have enjoyed many of the spin offs. I am glad the remastered episodes look great and it doesn't take anything away from them.
Have a great weekend and week ahead!
Oh, that remastered series sounds fab! Where did you buy it? 😯
ReplyDeletehello, how are you? i really would like to seoul. but I live too far... and too difficult for me. have a nice day!
