This week is Freebie. I'm going with quotes again which was last week, but since it's a freebie... why not?
"In the morning we shall have gone; but we will send our messages through the lands. The Wandering Companies shall know of your journey, and those that have power for good shall be on the watch."
"In the last days of the last moonphase of autumn a wind blew from the northern ranges through the dying forests of Askatevar, a cold wind that smelled of smoke and snow."
"Stick with the nice boys, Chloe!" said Madeline after a moment. "Like Daddy. Bad boys don't bring you coffee in bed, I'll tell you that for free."
"What are you babbling on about, woman?" sighed Chloe.
"Have you seen my other shoe, m'lord?"
The question seemed to vex Lord Bracken. "Am I a bloody handmaid, to fetch you shoes? Go barefoot if you must. Just go."
"Does that mean m'lord won't be taking me home with him, to pray with his little wife?" Laughing, Hildy gave Jaime a brazen look. "Do you have a little wife, ser?"
"I have sworn a vow," he told Hildy wearily.
"No turnips for you then," the girl said, saucily.
"Get out," Lord Jonos roared at her.
"Somebody knocked over the lamp, and somebody howled in the dark, and when we got the light on again, the old miser who owned the map was dead with a dirk in his heart, and the map was gone, and the night-watch was clattering down the street with their pikes to investigate the clamor. We scattered, and each went his own way."
"And so, in silence, we walked the surface of a dying world, but in the breast of one of us at least had been born that which is ever oldest, but ever new."
Escape from New York
"You touch me, he dies.
If you're not in the air in thirty seconds, he dies.
You come back in, he dies."
Call me Snake
Terminator
"Come with me if you want to live"
I've never watched Lord of the Rings. I probably should one of these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see Escape from New York on here - one of my favorite Kurt Russell movies!
ReplyDeleteBooks set on alien planets all seem to deal with dying forests or worlds LOL. That Burroughs quote puts a spell on you!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read the first Martin book. 😯
ReplyDeleteNice quotes! All new to me books here though, a few look familiar though.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I love that quote from A Princess in Mars.

Gotta love the classics! Movie quotes are the best😁
ReplyDeleteThose are some awesome quote picks -- just designed to make the reader curious about the story. It's been ages since I saw some Conan around, and I'd definitely forgotten those LOTR/ GOT quotes.
ReplyDeleteI love any good LOTR quote. I like the quote from the Conan book as well, it has a nice sort of cadence to it with everything that happens! The A Princess of Mars quote also feels pretty epic.
ReplyDeleteI read my first Ursula K. Le Guin book, The Left Hand of Darkness, very recently. I found it a very odd book, but it was also quite interesting. I think what Le Guin explores in terms of gender was very revolutionary for her time.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for this topic. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2021/06/top-ten-tuesday-freebie-lgbtq-reads-for.html.
ReplyDeleteThat one for the princess of mars - I wouldn't think such writing would be in such a book but I guess I shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
ReplyDeleteI love that Terminator quote - it's really the only quote that I can remember.
Have a lovely day.
Those are some interesting quotes! Lord of the Rings has so many and love that quote from Terminator. Good movie. Hope you have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteThe Terminator really had some classic lines
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of quotes! I really need to go back to Ursula Le Guin's books one of these days!
ReplyDeleteQuotes are always so much to feature!
ReplyDelete"Everyone was drunk. It was actually a great night until it all went to shit." -- my weekends. Pre-Covid. JK. Lol.
ReplyDeleteGood quotes are always fun. Love that one from Lord of the Rings! :)
ReplyDeleteChloe sounds absolutely done with Madeline and after reading that excerpt, I probably would be too, haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm always looking for good quotes.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with book quotes! They're always fun to read.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Mmm that imagery from the Le Guin is just phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteI genuinely think the Terminator quote is so iconic -- you always know who that is if someone quotes it!
ReplyDeleteQuotes are always a good idea. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TTT earlier.
Quotes are just a great topic and there's so many of them! Little Big Lies... has so many good ones. I love the first one. I feel like that could be said a lot about life. lol
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about Little Big Lies having such great quotes. It really does, though! I loved the ones you included here.
ReplyDeleteThe clips from Escape from New York just made my day. Gotta love Snake Pliskin!
ReplyDeleteSnake Pilssken! That was ages ago
ReplyDeleteI have Big Little Lies sitting on my bookshelf. I definitely need to pick it up. Great quotes!
ReplyDeleteLiane Moriarty is so quotable!
ReplyDeleteI love that first quote from Big Little Lies. Pretty well sums up the plot of the book, lol.
