So how is it May 7th already? I'm posting this on Friday night and getting ready for a night walk through Osaka - Virtual Japan is premiering a livestream tonight. You can watch live or after the livestream he posts it as a regular video. The livestreams are fun because he chats with viewers and you learn a lot. This week was good, I have lots of tweets I came across so in addition to the usual discussion tweet I included a few more below.
I HAD to share this.
Why I love working for the CIA. pic.twitter.com/Frs3OnNgP3

Anyway... here's the livestream premiere.
I'm liking the idea of sharing a tweet occasionally to generate discussion.
If you want to better understand what Republicans are trying to do, just watch Handmaid’s Tale.

Song of the week
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
BOOKISH LINKS
Every time I hear Summer of 69 I get unreasonably angry at Bryan Adams when he sings “I think about you and what went wrong” MOTHERFUCKER YOU LEFT THAT GIRL SITTING ON HER MOMMA’S PORCH AND WENT TO PLAY YOUR PAWN SHOP GUITAR.
— Justina Ireland (@justinaireland) May 3, 2021
I know exactly went wrong.
The Santa Rosa Country (FL) School Board met today to discuss lifting the mask mandate in schools. When Asian-American Chair Wei Ueberschaer attempted to read her statement, the audience yells “you’re a communist” and “this is Santa Rosa County, not China.” pic.twitter.com/FoPoYUxwmW

OMG a Nintendo World actually exists? My life is now complete.
ReplyDeleteLOl, that Bryan Adams song
ReplyDeleteHa ha I love Justina Ireland's tweet! Hope you have a good week Greg. Yep, May is flying by!
ReplyDeleteLOL, working for the CIA :) I hope you're doing well, Greg! I've been MIA from Sunday posts for a long while - it's been so busy over here!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

Kollen is on point with her tweet
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
This month is definitely going by so fast already!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to show that Bryan Adams tweet to my mother. She absolutely loves that song!
ReplyDeleteWhat is with that CIA video?! ROFL. And the tune in that video is just such a HUGE contrast with what she's saying (so proudly yet in that deadpan tone). Seriously, I had just stopped laughing over that one till I came across the Summer of 69 tweet. I love that song, so I was outraged to see people getting angry over Bryan Adams... and then, of course, he was angry! He left that girl on that porch. Brilliant stuff! 😂😂😂

Hope you had fun doing your walking tour. I admire people who can keep up with comments during a live feed (I cannot)
ReplyDeleteOkay so much to comment on! So the Justina tweet cracked me UP, I mean, so true! The one from FL made me want to scream and cry, frankly. This hellcountry terrifies me, full stop. I love the CIA one, that girl is hilarious. The pulp cover is a great choice, I love it! And you know I am a fan of the Osaka tours. I need to go there, immediately. Not that they want us, who can blame them? Also I high key need Nintendo World in my life!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the live stream tours! What a fascinating way to travel right now when travel isn't really an option - especially not international. My son and I have watched SO many videos on Nintendo World. It looks amazing! I hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteLots of good walks this week. And that comment about the Bryan Adams song is too funny. I keep chuckling at that one. :)
ReplyDeleteWha ha ha!! Loved your tweets. Girls can do a bit of murder too. Of course we can!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week Greg!

The comment about The Handmaid's Tale and how it reflects the Republican party reminded me of how eerily real that show feels!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week and your books...and the virtual walk sounded good.
That Justina Ireland tweet is hilarious. Now I want to listen to that song. It’s been a few years since I last heard it. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Hope your having a great week. I will refrain from commenting about your Republican quote since I am Republican.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading!

Week in Review
Working for the CIA was funny, in a wryly dark way. I hope you're having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe Bryan Adams tweet, lol! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed the Japan Walks livestream, take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂
ReplyDeleteBlair Erskine's videos are hilarious every time. She is so good. And I have to agree with Justina Ireland. Also have you read Dread Nation and Deathless Divide? Excellent books! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe Japan Walk looks so lovely. One day I have to try a livestream.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
These virtual walks are always the highlight of your Sunday posts. I love them. Blair Erskine's videos are hilarious usually!
ReplyDeletePersona synths -eerie
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tweets *smile* We had a very hot Sunday today, and I am kind of exhausted. Happy reading and have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteBlaire is so funny, I follow her to twitter.
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with Nintendo world and want to go soooo bad!
Let's hope the rest of us can avoid the handmaids tale in real life, they are just ridiculous at this point!
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
I haven't watched Handmaid's Tale yet but I did watch the original movie way back when.
ReplyDeleteShame shame shame at those people at the school board meeting shouting those things at the Asian-American lady. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE????
ReplyDeleteshame *on* those people, not *at*
ReplyDeleteI love the lofi campfire!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I never thought of The Summer of '69 like that! Of course, that song always reminds me of....Berlin. When we were on our honeymoon, we ended up in Berlin on the day of the Berlin Marathon and they were playing that song at the Brandenburg Gate as the runners finished! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories
ReplyDeleteAh yes The Handmaid's Tale would probably be a good discussion about what the Republicans are focussed on!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Those tweets crack me up. I hope your walk was a good one.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading.
I get so frustrated when I see things like that school board meeting. It fills me with shame about my country.
ReplyDeleteThose tweets are funny. :) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLoving the Nintendo World. :) I also really love 'The Jump' artwork, what a beautiful scene!
ReplyDeleteI laughed at that Bryan Adams tweet, I will never be able to listen in the same way again. And how cool a livestream tour. I didn't even know that was a thing but what an awesome idea, especially when we've all gone stir crazy not being able to travel, I will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI am DYING at that Bryan Adams tweet lol!!!! Literally just snorted tea everywhere lmaoooo
ReplyDeleteThe Bryan Adams song tweet cracked me up and then the one about the FL meeting and those people yelling at that poor woman made me so sad. It's emotional whiplash in your post this time!
ReplyDeleteI love getting on Google Maps and plopping myself down somewhere for a look-see. I'll bet having a guide makes it even more fun.
ReplyDeleteNice looking videos. Interesting assortment of tweets too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI know, how can it be so far in to May already!
ReplyDeleteThe Handmaid's Tale is so scary and heavy. I haven't even started this season yet - I'm waiting until things are more chill around here. Haha!
ReplyDeleteThe Summer of 69 tweet is hilarious! Love the walk throughs!!
ReplyDeleteThat tweet about Bryan Adams and Summer of '69 cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteBlair Erskine's video is hilarious. LOL Thank you for sharing that one. The Summer of 69 got me laughing too. I have that song on my playlist actually but hadn't ever really thought about it like that.
ReplyDeleteThe tweet about the Santa Rosa Country (FL) School Board makes me so mad. Argh. What is wrong with people?!
I hope you have a great week, Greg!
That is so cool. Osaka is my favorite town, and I would love to visit there someday. And I really want to go to Nintendo World one of these days!!!
ReplyDeleteBryan Adams and the CIA! :-D
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
I love Blaire Erskine. She has this one as the bride at Mar-a-Lago that is hilarious. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThere is basically zero Asian hate here where I live, from what I know, so this whole thing is astounding to me, although it shouldn't be because the tRump un-presidency, and the depth of uncovered racism toward Black folk should have taught me something. 😐
ReplyDeleteI would love to travel to Japan. Thanks for the walking tour links, as always. 🎏
I hope you have had a great week. 🌞
