My mom had gallbladder surgery last weekend. It's been a rough week with some complications but thankfully she's improving now. On the way home from the hospital I discovered a new bookstore and a new restaurant. You can't go wrong with a place that has Kung Pao Broccoli.
A night walk in the rain #ASMR
This is another live streaming- highlights are a protest for Myanmar at right around the 7:00 mark as well as a beautiful fountain in a park around 1:02:00.
I'm liking the idea of sharing a tweet occasionally to generate discussion.
I hate New York. Some guy just yelled at me “you’re pretty but those shoes with that dress? get help sweet heart”

Hey Elza!!! Thanks and yes it was such an unexpected treat to discover the new shop.
DeleteThat tweet pretty much sums up any big city. I used to live in one and while I do miss the hustle and bustle, I don't necessarily miss the opinions.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Cities are their own things :)
DeleteHope your mom recovers quickly, Greg. And that tweet... yikes! Gone are the days of "if you don't have anything nice to say..."

ReplyDeleteThank you! that new restaurant was a pleasant treat!!!
DeleteGet well soon to your mum. I discovered a new bookshop too this week and should probably do the same and review them, I never think to do that. There are all sorts of new businesses popping up in this post lockdown world, and I hope they all do well.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Burt's Books
It's nice to see the art back this week.
Oh congrats on your bookstore too. :) I like reviewing them...
DeleteI had gallbladder surgery in 2019, which landed me in this residence. I also had some difficulties...but I'm okay now, except I still can't eat some foods! I hope she does better.

Thank you!!!
DeleteHoping your mom continues to feel better! I like the idea of book clubs, but I struggle with books I "have" to read. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHope your mom recovers quickly! Nice that you discovered a bookshop and restaurant in the midst of all that. It's exciting to hear about book clubs. I forget that other people besides bloggers read and discuss, lol! That tweet is kind of hilarious. I get a mental picture of the guy being David from Schitt's Creek. Happy reading, Greg! :)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your mom! I hope she recovers quickly.

Glad to hear that she is improving!
ReplyDeleteSpeedy recovery to your Mom! Now please excuse me while I look for the Kung Pao Broccoli / bookstore post.
ReplyDeleteI love that pulp cover!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your mom with her recovery 😁
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to find a new bookstore that you like. I found one 15 years ago and loved going there because she had so many of the books I liked to read. Then she closed down a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteI hope your mom is doing well. I love finding new book stores, especially Indies. I haven't really explored any around here since I'm mainly an e-reader, but I do love the physical books.
ReplyDeleteLove the pulp cover.
Have a great week!
Hope your mom has a good week! book stores are just the best! That tweet was pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your mom is doing better. Thinking of her and you! Yay for finding a new restaurant and bookstore. :)

I'm sorry to hear that your mother had complications with her gall bladder surgery. I had my gall bladder removed several years ago and, even without complications, the recovery was more painful than I had expected.
ReplyDeleteNew bookstores are exciting. There are none near me...our local indie is Powell's and that pretty much kills off any small stores. I try to check out small indies when I'm traveling, though. - Melinda @ A Web of Stories
Nice to have some added interest after visiting your mother. Hope she is doing well now. Hmm Kung Pao Broccoli not sure what that is!! But you like it. And a find at a bookstore. Great outing I say.

ReplyDeleteA new bookstore AND a new restaurant? You scored!
And I have to comment on that Tweet. I'm not a fan of New York either. I went there for a couple weeks years ago to visit my brother, and the people are so rude! I was so happy to leave haha
Have a great week!
Praying for your mother's speedy recovery! My mom had gallbladder surgery years ago things turned out really fine. Discovering new bookstores is an absolute treat!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your mom is finally starting to feel better. I hope her recovery goes smoothly moving forward. Kung Pao Broccoli does sound pretty amazing. I don't think I've ever seen that on a menu.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that your mom is doing better!
ReplyDeleteMy husband can.not wait for the new Dune movie!

ReplyDeleteHope your mom is feeling better daily. I am back in FL taking care of mine after a recent illness. I should go exploring now that she is feeling stronger and find a new bookstore! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI hope your mom will get better and better!
ReplyDeleteWell now I need to see how the shoes look with the dress. Were they as bad as the guy said? I have questions! Love the street views as usual. Always fun to do some virtual traveling. Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your mom is improving! I hope it's smooth sailing from here on out!
ReplyDeleteAlways great finding new bookstores and food xD
I'm sorry I didn't comment before, but these were hectic days. So, I hope your mum is recovering nicely!
ReplyDeleteI am glad your mom's health is improving. Complications after surgery are not what anyone wants though, I know. I hope she continues to do well. Today was the last day of the school year for my daughter. I think I'm just as relieved, if not more so, than she is. She'll be going to a summer program a couple days a week starting next week and has already packed a bag in preparation, filled with notebooks and books and a few other essentials. She's not excited one bit, is she? LOL It will take some adjusting not having her around when I'm working. I'm so used to having hearing her class over her computer in the background and having her constant interruptions with questions. I'll miss it, but I'll probably get more work done. Haha.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Greg!
