Tuesday Tagline #176

Radio Silence

Hello. I hope somebody is listening.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is a romance freebie for Valentine's Day! Woo hoo for love! I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with this one- I wanted to do something different- but I kept having and then discarding ideas, and decided finally to look at relationships I really enjoyed (enough to maybe re- read) since they were so well done. So here we are!

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)

Not only a favorite of mine but I'd love to see more of the Ashby/ Pei dynamic.

The Shark Club

I'm sure Barb is expecting this one!

Bad Girls with Perfect Faces

Ok so the relationships in this book are a mess but that's half the fun

Alone in the Wild (Rockton, #5)

Casey and Eric- I'm not always sure how I feel about their relationship, TBH, but it's always exciting!

Summer Days and Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories

I can't remember everybody in all these stories but I did really like this YA anthology- we need more of these!

The Extinction Trials (The Extinction Trials, #1)

Stormchaser and Lincoln. Plus dinos.

A School for Unusual Girls (Stranje House, #1)

Georgie and Wyatt.

Planet of Exile (Hainish Cycle #2)

Rolery and Agat's relationship is fascinating- she's a native of the planet and he's the descendant of a colony stranded there. One of my favorite books. Interesting fact: there are a lot of similarities to A Song of Ice and Fire. Seasons last for fifteen years, there is an impending winter as the story opens, there's a barbarian migration (the wildlings?) and an eerie threat from the north- snowghouls- are coming south with the barbarians. Sound familiar?

Alex + Ada: The Complete Collection

Alex and Ada- love this graphic novel!

  1. Seeing that bright, sunny and yellow cover of 'Summer Days' reminds me to pick this one up! As we'll be heading into summer, maybe I'll FINALLY do so as I remember thinking the Christmas one cute. :)

  3. I checked out Summer Days from the library, carried it around for a few weeks, returned it without reading it. Does that count? ha! My Love Freebie

  4. The strengths of romantic connections for us seem to tell us something about ourselves (though I'm not always sure what). I never read romances, but I love reading stories with romantic elements in them. Not sure why that is, either.

  5. Great list! I'd really love Stephanie Perkins to pull together a Halloween YA romance anthology - I would read the hell out of that.

  6. I love that these aren't conventional romances. I don't read many specific romances but young adult tends to blend some sort of romantic relationship through each narrative. I still have The Long Way to A Small Angry Planet on my bookshelf and have heard it's incredible, will need to push that up the TBR!

    1. I don't read romance either per se but I like a romantic relationship in my books? Especially with YA I think it resonates with that audience, plus those of us (ahem) older people who read Ya lol it resonates with us too!

  32. I also couldn't decide what theme to come up with this week. I was aiming for something a bit tongue in cheek - but that didn't work out so I ended up simply with books I've read that contain romance - some I like, some I don't.
Look at all those similarities with the LeGuin and GoT - how very curious!
