Bookcover Spotlight #212

Neal Adams 5 Tarzan And The Jewels Of Opar Cover

This week I wanted to showcase a Tarzan cover by the acclaimed Neal Adams. This is one of those covers that tells a story, it seems to me, with an amnesiac Tarzan (if I recall correctly) stumbling into the sacrificial chamber of the Flaming God, where the high priestess La has been interrupted in her murderous rituals. Neal Adams' covers were quite striking and I love the details here... the blood running down his arm, the peek at the lost city of Opar through the open ceiling of the chamber...

  2. Definitely a neat cover, and it sounds like it gives you a real taste of the story. I always like when covers actually have something to do with the story.

  3. I still need to read some of Burroughs' Tarzan books.

  4. This does have some nice details, and the reflection in the water on the ground and everything is so nice.
