So this week we had sunshine! In fact combined with the fact that March is fast approaching I'm in spring mode. I am ready to bust out flip flops at this point. Now if t would just warm up! In other news I was interviewed over at Daniela's blog this week. You can find that here if interested. And it got me thinking how I haven't posted any flash fiction lately. So maybe I need to get on that. Should I revisit Trust Issues, or check in on On The Run? Or start a new thing? Something to ponder.

I often use art as inspiration- some of my favorite flash fiction or short stories have been inspired by stuff I saw on Artstation or Pinterest. Does art ever inspire you to tell stories?

This past week I posted about a wild dream I had and I also reviewed The Santa Klaus Murder. I also recapped Travelers episode seven and this weeks Tue Tagline was a favorite. :) Coming up this week I have some graphic novel reviews, maybe a movie liveblog, and a review for Polaris Rising.

  1. Yeah, it's hard to believe March is just around the corner. It doesn't feel like it, to be honest! And ooh, you should feature more unicorn pics in the future. That one you featured is just so gorgeous!

    1. I know! I can't believe March is almost here. And yes! That may be one of my favorite unicorn pics!!

  2. I can't say that I've ever been interested or inspired by art, or poetry for that matter. I'm afraid my few ventures into reading flash fiction quite a few years ago wasn't very successful so I stay away from it now, sorry!

  3. We had some sun and a couple of days in the 40s, but more snow, so I'm not in Spring mode yet. Ha ha. 🌷

Thanks for the ambient, and I will have to watch A Sun Will Always Sing again because I didn't quite get the gist behind people kill and wreck the planet because they die. I loved the animation. 👍✨

My vote is for more Trust Issues! ☺

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  7. I am so ready for spring, too! We had a bit of snow this week, and then the next day was almost 60 degrees, so the weather is very confused!

  8. "Ready to bust out the flip flops", love it! My thoughts exactly. Here in California it's the coldest winter in a long time, but for some reason all the flowering trees suddenly bloomed last week. It's so weird, what crazy weather!

  9. Loving the art you shared this week. And guess what. I'm sitting in shorts and flip flops right now, Greg. It's been warm and muggy here and the sun is peeking in and out of the clouds,

    ReplyDelete
  10. We had some sun too, and now are in a blizzard warning from noon today until 3 AM tomorrow. Everything is cancelled, which is good. But I am also skeptical, because Wednesday we were supposed to get 6-10 inches and it ended up only being about 5-6. I just want one big, good snowfall. Any snowfall under ten inches at this point will just be the worst and a huge disappointment.

  11. It's been cold as heck here in Las Vegas this week. We actually got some snow which just made everyone a little crazy since we don't get snow.

    1. Wow I didn't think you guys ever got snow!

  12. We are about ready for spring here too, I think. Although snow didn't quite make it to our house this past week, it came close. My daughter was very disappointed. She really was hoping.

I do find art to inspire me--whether in writing or some other area. Sometimes it's art in the form of a song that inspires me.

I hope you have a great week, Greg. Enjoy your reading!

    1. I wish I could send you some of our snow. Not enough to make the roads a mess but just enough that you guys could enjoy it. :)

And I agree. Not only art but music is super inspirational as well!

  14. I am never too quick to write winter off. March is such a wild card when it comes to weather, but I was happy with the milder temps this past week. I saw the interview. It was great!

  15. Wait did we discuss Polaris Rising? How was it? I am so tired I have no idea what has happened in weeks. Also, A+ GIF, where the hell is Shumway anyway!?

YES check in with On the Run! I love that! Did you read Two Can Keep a Secret yet? I want to but... I basically need to know if it is worth buying, hah.

    1. We did not discuss Polaris rising I don't think? It was good- a little more romance-y than I usually read but it was fine, and pretty good SF too. And yes I was rather pleased w/ that GIF...

I have not read Two yet. For some reason I'm putting it off behind other books? Not even sure but I'll get to it? And On The Run... hmm. :)

  16. Great images again...I really like the Unicorn Sighting. So ethereal.

    The relics are awesome, too.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  17. I'm okay with the cold, but we normally are warm with the AC on by the middle of June, so I'm okay with delaying that a little. Love the art, as always. I got a new art program and I'm looking forward to playing with it.

    Have a happy week!

    1. I have some under the Writing tab. A year or two ago I was doing some serialized flash fiction but I haven't done any lately.

Yes that's the bad thing about spring/ summer. Getting sick!

  20. I read your post on Daniela's blog earlier and I liked it. I am dreading the coming of spring because it would mean summer is arriving rihgt? Have a good week ahead Greg!

  21. I've been enjoying the sunshine too. I can't wait for Spring to be here, although it's slightly scary how fast this year is disappearing already. I'm looking forward to reading your flash fiction. Do you ever participate in the Write...Edit...Publish challenge? I just started and it seems to be a really supportive community. They post flash fiction contests every couple of months.
Thanks for sharing all the inspiring artwork.

  22. Well Greg I love art! But it does not inspire me to write. Just ...soothes my soul maybe? Or elate? Elevate? When I feel down I know that I will immediately feel better if I admire art. There is such magic and wonder thinking that we can create right?
And I did not know of Artstation! I visited and I can see where you are getting your graphics! Happy Sunday (hope you'll get to wal in flip flops soon) ;-) Sophie @bewareofthereader

    1. Art does soothe the soul! I generally find art and music to be great ways to self- medicate if I'm down. :) And yes how amazing is it that we are creators, in our on way?

Artstation is awesome! I find a TON of stuff there.

  24. Hate the weather, loved the interview and think you should write something new! :)

The weather here is just so stupid, I want to move, not that it is better any place else but I just feel like NJ weather can't make up it's mind.

The interview was AWESOME! I did one for her a long time ago, she is awesome too.

I love your writing, I read the last one you did but I think something new would be fun :)

I hope you have the most amazing week ever, Greg! Happy Reading!

And great interview, enjoy your week!

  28. I've been having cold, then warm, then chilly and um... I think it's sort of chilly right now, so maybe March is on the way? I can't really tell anymore, so I'm just rolling with whatever nature gives me and carry at least one additional jacket in the car, LOL.

Sometimes art makes me want to tell stories, depending on the artwork, but it's more... for Instagram, I guess? I'm good with ideas, but sometimes I'm bad at telling those stories, haha.

  29. Forgive me, I will be stopping by this week to catch up on some posts. I know I am behind. But, all things in time and I don't overwhelm myself. I will do it. I hope all is going well. I can't wait for the spring weather I hate winter. The older I get the more I hate it.

  32. Those are some beautiful pictures. After Christmas, I'm ready for summer. If I didn't have to drive to work, I wouldn't mind it quite as much, but some days I feel like I'm risking my life to get back home.

  33. Yay sunshine! I really enjoyed your interview at Daniela's, I learned so much about you! I love the dryad art. I also always love art when it's someone in a spaceship or something looking out a big window that just shows the stars or planets in space. There's something so peaceful about those.

    1. Thanks! I love that dryad one too- you don't see too many of those and that's actually the first one I found for this week. :)

  35. I'm in total spring mode right now too. It cannot get here fast enough. I'll be looking forward to your review of Polaris Rising and I'm also excited to hear you'll be getting back to writing some flash fiction. Hope you have a great week!

  36. Yeah, I'm excited too. In two months I should be able to start biking again! Love your pics. Enjoy your new books.

  37. Great art this week!! And I am so excited for spring too, I definitely can't wait for it to get here. I am sick of grey and white and no colors on the trees. Or yes, warmer weather. It was so frigid this morning when I dropped my kiddo off.

Have you watched The Umbrella Academy? We binged it! So good.

  40. I am wearing my flip flops ... or as we call them here in NZ "jandals" and in Australia they call them "thongs" which is my least fav name for them! Anyway nice that Spring is on its way for you, Autumn feels a long way off for us but I guess it'll creep up on us. Happy sci fi reading.

  41. We had a couple of nice days, a couple of days with snow, and now we are back in the deep freeze. Spring can't come soon enough for me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  42. We have sun here too and it's glorious! Granted we haven't had all the snow you've had but we've had more than our share of rain. Luckily the flooding seems to be going down though the road damage is catastrophic. I saw two people with shredded tires on my way home today. Gorgeous pictures and the Lisa Jewell is calling me. I finally read a book by her last year and really enjoyed it. Have a great week!

  44. It was so nice to see the sun twice last week! Hopefully, we will get some this week too. I am so in the Spring mode too. Looking forward to a trip to FLA in a couple of weeks. Need to get back to Lisa Jewell's books.
