Top Ten Back To School

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week we're celebrating (?) back to school with a Top Ten freebie. I decided to go ten schools/ academies I'd love to read more about.

  Sanctuary Bay

A School for Unusual Girls (Stranje House, #1)

Legacy (Night School, #2)

Fangirl

Cath and Levi. Or Regan!

Related image

The library in Waterfall City even though it's not a school per se.

Radio Silence

This might be kind of a cheat but school/ starting college are both a part of the story.

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

Instead of schools we have factions, but they're sort of like school (especially Erudite I would imagine).

Lost Stars (Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens)

We don't hear much about the Academy but this book delves into that a little bit.

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)

Assassin school.

And... since I can't think of another book, we'll go with a show.

    1. It wasn't really a school, I mischaracterized it, it's actually a convent where they teach the girls to be killers. Pretty rad!

  7. Great topic. Speaking of Riverdale, I finished an awesome graphic novel last night. It's "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and is about Sabrina the witch. OMG is is gruesome and so good. It even has Veronica and Betty in it and they are witches. You really need to check it out!

    1. Ooh I need that. There's been some rumblings that they might inject a suprnatural element into S2- I wish they would!!

  8. Grave Mercy was a very enjoyable read. But I would like to see more of the school.

    1. Me too. Even though it was more a convent or monastery I loved reading how they learned poisons and everything else.

  9. I don't really read many books set in school as too many overdo the YA angst and tropes that I hate!

    1. Yeah you have to get the good ones. :) They can be very trope-y for sure!

  11. This is a great list Greg! I definitely was a fan of Fangirl, so would definitely love to read more surrounding Cath and Levi! And I so need to get back to Lafevers series, I read and loved the first book ages ago, but just haven't had time to get to the next two books! And like you I'm a massive fan of Riverdale too, I can't wait for season 2!

  12. Oh Grave Mercy! nun assassin school FTW lol Although they weren't the nicest there.

Another interesting (also not nice) school was the assassin school in Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.

  13. This would have been a more fun list to do than the one I did. I would definitely be interested in reading all of these! Admittedly, assassin school sounds pretty interesting. Although I don't know that I could personally make it there. :-) Thanks for sharing, Greg. I hope you are having a good week!

    1. I don't think I'd make it there either, those assassin nuns were kinda tough! And I had a hard time with this week, I didn't know WHAT topic to do so it got a little rushed at the end...

  14. I was a huge fan (still is) of books set in school but unfortunately I haven't read many books with this theme. Awesome list, Greg. :)

    1. I do like a good book set in a school. No idea why, maybe because we've all been through it and it's usually such a formative time.

  15. The cover for A School for Unusual Girls is gorgeous.
I've not read Dinotopia, but I'd like too. I remember loving to tv series adaption that they made.

    1. I love that one too. And Dinotopia is kinda fun, aimed for a younger audience obviously, but there are some neat concepts in it.

  16. Radio Silence sounds so good, I really should get to it soon! Fangirl was amazing! And Grave Mercy just got pushed up on my TBR because assassin school is a must :)

    1. I liked Radio Silence and might even re- read it one of these days, which is something I don't often do. Fangirl= yes! And Grave Mercy- yay! Although I should warn you it's more of a convent where they teach the girls to kill, rather than a school. I just called it that. :)

  17. I loved reading Grave Mercy!! I still want to read Fangirl.

  18. I'm wondering if you have read the sequels to GRAVE MERCY, FANGIRL, and DIVERGENT? I sometimes think that sequels enlighten, but often keep us in the dark even longer. Books with memorable school scenes

    1. I have not read the sequels to Grave Mercy. Nor Fangirl. Divergent I did read the next one and part of the third- would like t finish but maybe someday. :)

  24. I binge watched Riverdale in 2 days this summer and I have no regrets. It's seriously so good. I've also watched the the season 2 trailer more times than I'd like to admit lol great list!

  25. I'm looking forward to the next season of Riverdale- it's such a good show!!!

  26. This is a great list! I agree about Divergent, the factions always fascinated me and I wished we'd seen more of the inside of each of them. Assassin school definitely sounds like a school I'd want to know more about, too. I like that Radio Silence deals with starting college, too- there are too few books about that, really. And someday I shall watch Riverdale. Probably.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yay for Lost Stars! I actually wish we had gotten more scenes of the two characters are children in school, but I understood the need to hurry things along so they can fall in love and fight with their respective sides :)

  28. I love that you included Grave Mercy on this list. Who wouldn't want to attend assassin training at a nunnery?

  29. Hi, Greg! I'm a looooser & haven't visited in awhile. :( I try to make the rounds as often as I can, but ... it's slacker central here. Anyway, totally agree with assassin school. That reminds me that I still need to read the last book in that series.

  37. And here I am. Still saying I need to read a book by Rainbow. :D

I'm curious about Radio Silence as well, plus Grave Mercy. Both are titles I've looked at off and on over the years, but never picked up. Always fun to see them on lists which serves to remind me, "RIIIGHT. I still have't read that..." :D

Thanks, as always, for visiting Finding Wonderland, Greg.
