Sunday Post #472

So remember my complaints about kiosks? Maybe it was just the location. This week someone I know spent 40 minutes in the drive thru. It's freezing in there too. But... Mexican pizzas are back.

Dorothy was in town this week and put on a great show as always.

Good news! The second season of One Of Us Is Lying starts on the 20th.

My next Movies That Suck will be... Hollywood Knights.

  1. I've been watching Gilmore Girls, every fall I want to watch the show again. I haven't watched One of Us is Lying, I should check it out.

    1. Same! Is it on the free Peacock or the Peacock we have to pay for?

  3. Oh that is good to know about One Of Us Is Lying. I really enjoyed the first series. Good book covers.

We are about half way through Cobra Kai well into the 3rd Series. And I am watching the one on Netflix about Dahmer.

  4. I have yet to watch One of Us is Lying. I want to reread the book first, I think.
I absolutely love those covers. We're going to a horror trivia night in a few weeks so we've been binge watching the series that they'll be asking questions on. I've also started binging Bones because I haven't watched it all the way through yet.

  5. Your pulp cover is fun to view! And I am intrigued by your so-called Mexican pizza. I wonder how they taste like

  6. 40 minutes in the drive thru?! You might as well go and sit down for dinner at a restaurant! That's ridiculous. I haven't watched One of Us is Lying yet but I loved the book. I should try it out. Love this cover for The Time Machine.

  7. Me gustan los videos. Y las portadas. Buen fin de semana. Te mando un beso.

  8. We have so many places around here where the dining area is still closed..so I can see those 40 minute drive throughs happening here. I tried the Mexican pizza at Taco Bell. Not too bad, but messy.

Great bookcovers! Still watching Are You Save and Being a Hero..although, I haven't seen many heroes in this one. Lots of drugdealing and lots of people in the police force aren't on the up and up.

  9. I'm sure I watched The Hollywood Knights back in the day, the trailer looked familiar. I love that Peter Pan cover

  10. Definitely sounds like the location! There are a few places here where we will drive farther to go to a different location and get back faster than we would have if we had gone to the one closest! I'm trying to decide if the girl on the cover of You Can't Catch Me is supposed to be already dead because that position looks painfully uncomfortable. Have a wonderful week!

  11. Love those covers. I've never read anything by Jules Verne but I remember being fascinated by the old films. He was so ahead of his time.

  12. I don't know anything about Mexican pizzas but I do like anything pizza aside from sushi pizza, but it's probably worth the wait for any pizza.

Those illustrated covers are wonderful, definitely works of art but if they become covers, they'll be covered with stickers and review quotes and all kind of silly things.

    Have a lovely day.

  13. I remember watching the Rockford Files back when it was on. I think I watched Quincy around the same time. lol

  14. I love the posters you posted, especially the one for Journey to the Center of the earth. And the pulp cover is awesome.

  15. Love the pulp cover. Ooooohhhh...Mexican pizza. I haven't had it in awhile, but it's so good.

  16. I got the Mexican Pizza when they first brought it back earlier this year and there was something weird about the tortillas. I hope they taste right this time around. I'll have to see if our Taco Bell has them yet. Last time I was there they had a huge sign out front "We are sold out of Mexican Pizza!"

    Those covers are very cool!

  17. Okay those covers are AMAZING and I want them all. Also all this Taco Bell talk makes me really want to cave and lose all self-control and eat Taco Bell. Just saying. Also... is the "people you know" who waited for Mexican pizza for 40 minutes... you? No judgment obviously, even fake Mexican food is worth waiting for, let's be real 😂

Also I am ALWAYS here for more OOUIL. And more Sara Thompson, too. Plus I have not read the second book so I am kind of loving that I will have no idea- even though I am pretty sure the ending of the first season didn't mirror the book?

  18. I've never seen The Hollywood Knights but it seems perfect for Movies That Suck🤣

  19. Interesting that so many of the pulp covers have women in those 'glamorous' death poses - and seemingly always hanging off the edge of the bed, or a cliff or something. Those posters (covers?) are great and look they they were all done by the same artist - very similar colors and style. They're cool and would make a great collection. Thanks for stopping by & I hope you get around to the Rockton series soon. I'm looking forward to the new direction.

  21. I've never watched The Hollywood Knight. Isn't Tony Danza in it?

  22. I LOVE those covers. That seems to be a popular art style right now, and I love it. I'm a sucker for anything depicted that way.

  23. Love the pulp covers, they're all so beautiful and evocative in their own way! And waiting 40 mins in a cold drive through sounds horrid... I hope you have a good start to the week :)

  24. Oh man, in college when I lived in a dorm, I would sometimes drive like half an hour in the middle of the night just to get a Mexican pizza because Taco Bell was open until like 4am, haha.

  25. One of Us Is Lying looks good. I'll look for it. Netflix, Youtube??

  26. I honestly never realized that the Mexican Pizza went away. My favorite was the enchurito, but I think that's definitely gone. Have a wonderful week! Here's my Sunday Post: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2022/10/02/sundaypost-on-the-road-again/

  29. I have no idea if the drive through here in town is open or not. I don´t go there *lol* Some restaurants are open, mostly those who survived the lockdowns. But not sure how long that will last ... Happy reading, Greg.

  30. I still need to watch One of Us is Lying. But not sure, maybe I don't have the channel it is on? Anyway, have a great week!

  33. I still need to read One of Us is Lying before watching that...lol. Oh and for your Movies that Suck it's the perfect time of the year to find some great 70s or 80s horror movies to pick apart. :)

  35. Great covers! I just can't seem to fit in much tv except the cooking shows I watch with my daughter while getting dinner. Otherwise I'm reading. I've noticed the drive thru lines in general are bonkers. But then I never go in and because most places don't have gluten free I cook at home.

  37. I love all these covers Greg! I’m laughing at you watching The Rockford Files only because my hubby and I have been watching Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle on MeTV the past month! I hope you have a great week ahead.

  38. I am watching House of Dragons. After that I plan to watch Rings of Power.
I had no idea there was One of Us is Lying show. I guess one of the many things I missed while being away...

  39. My husband is super excited about the Mexican Pizzas too. He was so miffed when Taco Bell stopped making them.

Those covers you shared are gorgeous! I love the art style!

  40. Oh, that Peter Pan cover is cool!

  41. I love the old book covers!
I'm also watching the Rings of Power... Andor is on my list but I have a load of other Star Wars shows to catch up on before I want to start a new one. :)

  43. That's some nice cover art for the classics!

  44. Such great covers! Thanks for sharing them, Greg.

My hubby is not a fan of the drive through. He always wants to go inside. I am the opposite. I guess in this case, opposites attract. :)

  48. I have yet to watch season one of One of Us is Lying. I didn't know that they were making a second season, but that's good to hear! How was the first season compared to the book?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh my word I watched The Rockford Files with my parents back in the 80s - I was only a kid back then but I did enjoy them.
What a shame about Rock Paper Books - those covers are stunning.

  50. 40 minutes in the drive-thru? Nope. Not even for Mexican pizza. LOL I vaguely remember The Hollywood Knights. Can't wait to get your take on it. :)

  51. I still need to finish One of Us! Is it based on the sequel?

  57. Forty minutes waiting in a drive thru is a long time. I see the long line of cars at In and Out Burger and always wonder how long people wait there. I have never been--all these years in California, but the food doesn't appeal to me. I love those classic covers.

  58. Who is the artist for the classics covers? 🤔 I love them. 😍
