Sunday Post #418

Lots of stuff this week. I have lots of lo-fi stuff and my Star Trek watch a thon is back on track. Sort of. Also Into the Night S2 came out this week! And Open Your eyes looks like the next one I want to try.

So I didn't go to the Michigan Renaissance Festival last week. Just didn't want to chance it. This week in walking tours I have waterfront tour. The second one is an amazing night cruise downtown.

I'm liking the idea of sharing a tweet occasionally to generate discussion

Song of the week

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

This cracked me up- from an OLD comic (Ka-Zar in Savage Tales)- oh, and Stan Lee himself wrote this. :)

  1. Great art picks. "Mozzarella Way" is an awesome name for that last piece, and cute name for that ship vehicle thing :D

  2. Sorry you didn't get to go to Michigan Renaissance Festival, but I get it. You have to go with what you feel comfortable with and the way covid continues to be spreading everywhere even places that say they are taking steps to protect people doesn't always feel safe. Loved the old comic page, and I totally laughed at the woman saying 'now that's a man' but Carla was sassing him the whole way through.

  3. Hopefully next year we can all go to a Renaissance Festival/Fair!

  4. That tweet was crazy. And also just one more reason Covid is never going away. Hope you have a good week, Greg!

  5. My kids go back to school tomorrow after a three week lockdown. Even though we have no cases in our region, all teachers and students aged 12+ will be required to wear masks on school grounds. There may well be a handful that might object to masks but the Education Department has made it clear they are not entertaining any debate, it’s either wear a mask or not be admitted. There’s a lot our government could do better, but in this at least they are doing the right thing.

Wishing you a great reading week

  6. The pulp cover looks pretty cool, I am now wondering who these winged men are. ;)

  7. Bummer about the festival, but you have to operate within your comfort zone. I get that

  8. These pulp books sound like fun, I'd actually been lowkey wondering if any books like Lords of Atlantis existed to be honest, lol. And lots of lovely lofi music to yoink!

  9. I don't blame you for skipping the Michigan Renaissance Festival this year, hopefully you can go next year. I will never understand people refusing to wear masks during this pandemic.

Nice quotes! glad you enjoyed your books this week!

  10. Glad you enjoyed your books. Old comics are the best!

  11. Oooh I just looked up Open Your Eyes, and it does sound good! Let me know what you think of it and I will try it (after Into the Night of course)! Also, don't blame you at all about the festival. It's such a mess out there. Our county's daily numbers are back in the triple digits, which is mindboggling, considering there is a literal prevention both free and available to everyone 12 and over. I cannot.

  12. Jude's reasoning behind why he likes being unhappy makes you stop and think. Sad but also grateful. Too bad about the Renn Faire but I would have done the same. My sister is throwing a driveway concert next week with some local performer and it boggles my mind. She doesn't understand why I won't be attending.

  13. There's nothing wrong with watching Star Trek.

  14. Glad to hear you have continued to enjoy some pulp-goodness and that you've restarted your Star Trek watch-a-thon - reminds me I need to get back to re-watching the films. 🖖 Take care and happy reading in the coming week.

  15. I always love those Star Trek watch a thons....one of the best shows done. Brings back all the memories. Hope you have a good week.

  16. "Students at a school in Manchester, MI, instigated by parents, refuse to comply with the mask mandate and enter school."
Since when kids agree with parents?!? On THIS, of all issues?!? Oh wait, it's about not going to school...🙄

"Well," she said with a sigh, "then I suppose I must remain here and seek a mate whom I shall learn to hate and bring children into the world who will hate us both."
    Too true 😂.

    Mozzarella Way???

  17. I'm sorry you didn't get to go to the Renaissance Festival, I am still not comfortable going to these big events either, sometimes just seeing lots of people at school stresses me out.

I'm sad to see students and parents seem to refuse wearing a mask at school. Here you need a mask to enter the school and walk from one class to another but you can take it off when you are sitting down and the windows and doors are open. Most people are vaccinated here, so we're hoping these will work out better this year.

  18. Sorry about the festival. I really want to visit one of those someday, but they usually happen during the summer and fall when I'm busy. Then, there's COVID. I'll get to a Ren festival someday!

  19. Your videos always make me smile. As for mandates, it is frustrating when people won't do what is necessary.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  21. Thanks for sharing those quotes. I love Dolorous Edd so obvi, I enjoyed the quotes from other similar characters. I'm grateful that in our state their is a mask mandate for all kids k-12

  22. I love the Pulp Cover of the Week. As for the masks, I just wish people would cooperate so we can all be rid of this virus or at least get it under control.

    Have a great week!

  23. I probably wouldn't chance a festival right now either. We had 1500 new cases of Covid on Friday. My grandson's teacher won't make the kids wear their mask in the classroom so he came home with a cold.

  24. Would love to go to the Renaisance Festival! No such thing in SA, so I would have to travel... Gosh wouldn't that be fun.

    Have a good week Greg.

  25. Here in Germany it is (sadly) kind of natural that all kids seven and older have to wear a mask at school. And they do it because they wanna be at school again. They enjoy being there. Yes, our basic liberties are limited at the moment, but that won´t last forever. Being smart is the key here. Not being stupid... Sad, but true.

  26. I'm sorry you haven't been able to go to the Michigan Renaissance Festival as you wanted. But I get you!
Have a great week and happy reading.

  27. That's a bummer about the Ren Faire but I definitely get where you're coming from, especially with that delta variant running rampant.

  28. Sorry you haven't gone to the Michigan Renaissance Festival. I might not go to Soda City Comic Con this year due to COVID. Anyway, have a nice week!

  29. Oh well...maybe you can get that gigantic turkey leg at the Renaissance Fair NEXT year.

  30. Sorry you didn't get to the RenFaire, but it was a wise decision. We are staying home as much as possible, too. Too many people refusing to wear masks, and transmission rates keep climbing in my area. And that school protest video is scary, to be honest.

I hope you have a good week, and some more fun reading!

  31. "Now *that's* a man!" :-D Hilarious!

I'm sorry you didn't get to attend the Ren Faire. We've been trying to avoid crowds again too, although we're still getting out on trails and stuff.

    Enjoy your week!

  32. That Mozzarella Way piece is amazing! I don't even exactly understand what I'm looking at, but I still love it! :-)

  33. What a shame about not getting to go to the fair, but you have got to do what you can to protect yourself right?

    Have a great week!

  34. I guess good choice about the festival. Next time hopefully. Mask wearing in schools are tough but most likely necessary. Our 12+ have to wear them but below that not, except for the teachers and as they project their voices and er... sometimes spit its a good thing!

  35. I am still trying to decide whether or not to go to the county fair here next week. Hope you have a great week!

  36. Sorry you didn't get to go to Renn Faire but I bet that was the right decision. Hopefully next year!

  37. It's such a bummer about the Ren Fest. :( I miss going as well. A woman my husband works with volunteers there on the weekends and she is working from home now until the Ren Fest is over. I have to say I am sort of glad about that, even though they all have to mask at my husband's work.

    Next year, hopefully.

  38. Lots of great stuff here! Looks like you had a fun week even without the Renaissance Festival. Have a great week.

  39. WOW, WOW, WOW on those anti-maskers. 😱😱😱 I haven't heard of any problems at our schools about the mask mandate. 😮

Hopefully next year there will have been a federal mask mandate and we will be past all this so you can go to the Renaissance Festival. 🎪

I hope you are having a great week. 🌞

  40. The anti-maskers just kill me. How can we live in a society where masks for the health of all is politicized? Yikes. That's my state.

I like your song of the week! Very soothing. Listening to it while I type this.

I need to restart my star trek marathon. I'm half way through the original's second season...

Hope you have a great week!
