So this past week I started a new feature- Dystopia Playlist- that will pair songs about dystopias and various other disastrous scenarios with books. Or maybe there won't even be books at times. You can see my first post here- inspired by red skies over California last year. In other news, I finally started a certain book that's been on my TBR for ages, and I reviewed a retro space fantasy. Fun stuff.
The Bookish Games continue. Also known as the bookish version of Mafia. I'm on the firing line this time- will I survive? It doesn't look promising. You can find all the chaos here.
Such a fun idea to pair books with songs! Also, Edo looks so pretty to walk around.
ReplyDeleteI gotta a bit teary eyed seeing the 2020 rings in Tokyo. I hope we can have the games again soon. I really forward to them.
ReplyDelete"In other news, I finally started a certain book that's been on my TBR for ages".
ReplyDeleteDon't tell me you're finally reading Songs from the Deep 😂.
Have a great week!
The new feature sounds like fun and yay for making a start on a book you've been wanting to read for a long time. :)
ReplyDeleteYour new feature sounds fun. I don’t think I could be that creative. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Those California fires seem so long ago, was it really only September? Crazy. Good luck in the Bookish Games!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Godzilla vs. Kong looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI love that cover of Murder on the Orient Express and it's not one I've seen before! It's so eye catching but actually is connected to the book. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe Murder on the Orient Express cover is gorgeous! 😍
ReplyDeleteGodzilla vs. Kong! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✨
I hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy the book you finally picked up! 🌞
You are so very dead, I am sorry, you can rest easy in SpecChat 😂 Are you finally reading Songs From the Deep? I think it's been on your Sunday Post for the shady side of a decade at this point hah. Tokyo has no business being THAT beautiful and fun looking, I want to go so badly! Or like, go anywhere, let's be real. Good luck with your impending doom!
ReplyDeleteIn spite of myself, I AM kind of excited about Godzilla vs. Kong!
ReplyDeleteAll of your Japan videos/pics make me so jealous. One day, I want to take a trip there. This Bookish Games thing is really interesting. I didn't realize it was a thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the Orient Express cover. I miss that old school pulp cover look.
That's a cool idea for a new feature! And yay for reading a book that's been on your tbr forever lol.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with you new feature, Greg and I am rather liking that pulp cover for Murder on the Orient Express, never seen one like that before with no train. Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂
ReplyDeleteI love the pulp cover of the Murder on the Orient Express, which is one of my favorite movie adaptations as well. Stay safe and Good luck with you innovative feature!
ReplyDeleteGreat feature! I wouldn't know where to start but I so want to.
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge Godzilla fan but I am very curious about Godzilla v Kong!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading!

Sounds great to pair books with a song *smile* Guess that is a wonderful way to escape reality for a few minutes or hours. Have fun and happy reading.
ReplyDeletePairing books with a song sounds like so much fun! I love the cover of your sci fi vintage read this week, Greg. And that pulp cover for Murder on the Orient Express is spot on:)). I hope you have a peaceful, healthy week.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the Bookish Games! Hope you're still standing in the end!

I love the feature which is why I shared it on my Sunday Post. I am loving the cover for Murder on the Orient!
ReplyDeleteYour new feature sounds like a great idea and so much fun. I'm looking forward to Godzilla vs. Kong. What a great Pulp Fiction cover. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteA Dystopian Playlist? How fun! I'll check it out. Also, yay for starting a book you've had on your TBR for ages. Hope you love it! Happy reading, Greg! :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed Greg, we may wonder if we are in a dystopia!
ReplyDeleteThat cover for Murder on the Orient Express is really cool, but rather misleading. It gives an oriental vibe and there's actually nothing in the book. Except for the "lady" in the robe.
ReplyDeleteSaw your dystopian playlist! Clever clever!
Have a good week Greg.
that's a fantastic idea to pair songs with books. And dystopians are my fav so I'm very much looking forward to this new feature!
ReplyDeleteGodzilla vs Kong...Yes! I cannot wait for that.
ReplyDeleteDystopia playlist, aye those be the times
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea to pair books with songs! I will check out your post.
ReplyDeleteThe walking tour through Edo looks great, would like to visit it someday.
Have a good week, Greg!
Fun pairing books and songs! I'm not sure about Kong v. Godzilla. I can see how it might be mindless fun...but I think it might be a bit TOO mindless. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the Dystopian playlist! Probably need something to play to get me in the mood during tough times. I'm really excited for the new Godzilla vs Kong movie! I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!

Is it just me or is dystopia having a comeback since the pandemic started? I find myself attracted to this genre again like I did a few years back.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, Greg
ReplyDeleteThat alternate cover of Murder on the Orient Express looks good!
ReplyDeleteThe pulp cover of Murder on the Orient Express is very cool. Hope you find some good reads this week.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the dystopian project. Good luck in the games.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the games, and good luck!
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to enough music to even begin a project like yours. Good luck with it! Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe California Fires were freakishly ominous. I live only a couple of hours from one of them when it was burning strong.
ReplyDeleteGreat videos. Enjoy your new venture with songs and books.
I love that Tokyo Architecture! Thanks for sharing...and enjoy February.
I always think it feels great to start a book that’s been on my TBR a long time. I hope you’re enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI finally got some reading done and it felt great. We'll see if it continues lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Greg!

What a fun idea for a feature to pair songs with books. That walk through Edo video sounds interesting, I might have to check that one out. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHa, hope you survive for awhile at least in the bookish games. Enjoy while you can!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck surviving Mafia!!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying, not exactly successfully, to make a dent in my owned TBR. It would take me years to get through the whole thing, even if no new books were coming into my house, but if I finish the year with fewer owned unread books than I started, I'll be happy! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely going to know your way around Tokyo if you ever visit!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
I always enjoy watching the cooking programs that talk about street food on Netflix, so I absolutely adore that walking tour so much, and the weather is perfect! Hope you're doing well, Gorgeous Greg. Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteI like dystopian books, a playlist sounds fun! The cover for Songs From The Deep is cool looking! Have a great week!
