Top Ten Books of 2020


 Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten books of the year. We all know what a dumpster fire of a year 2020 has been- but there were some good books! So here are my picks for favorites of the year. Hope everyone is having happy holidays.

  1. Thank goodness for good books this year! I only had one five star read this year, but enough 4.5's that it pulled me through with 10. My reading definitely felt way off this year thanks to everything going on. I haven't read any of your top ten, but Kelley Armstrong's and Becky Chamber's books are ones I would really like to read.

    Here's hoping 2021 will be a better reading year!

  2. I read so many phenomenal books this year. There sure were a bumper crop of hits for me. I liked The Cousins too. McManus never disappoints.

  5. I have been having a tough time the last... 2-3 years coming up with a lengthy list of favorites. Not sure why, but it has been a thing. I think it's more because I know more what I like than I used too AND that I just don't read that many books in a year. Glad you still found some books to enjoy! :)

  6. Thank goodness for good books to get us through the year! Glad you found some you loved. Funny, I think the pandemic had the opposite effect on me because I read more. I like the cover for the Becky Chambers one!

  8. Yeah.. dumpster fire for sure!! Hoping for a better 2021! I agree, so many great books this past year! I enjoyed The Cousins! It was my first book by her.

  11. I recognize The Cousins on your list (think I actually first saw it on your blog) and still want to read it.

    Lost Horizon is a classic and I love that book. Quickly had a look at where my copy is, found it!

  16. I've only read one of the books on your list and I really enjoyed The Cousins too 😃 I'm such a fan of McManus' YA mysteries! I still need to read Girls With Sharp Sticks and all of Becky Chambers' books (I feel like a broken record saying that all of the time LOL) but I'm determined to get to them eventually!

  18. Ooh nice picks! Some new to me ones. I did enjoy Kelley's Alone in the Wild book. Can't wait to see where this series goes after next year's release which was pretty awesome too!

  37. I'm so glad this dumb year is coming to an end! At least we did have some good books. I'm halfway through Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series and totally loving it. And I can't wait to read The Cousins. Hope you have a Happy New Year, Greg! :D

  44. I agree with you about the dumpster fire of 2020. My "favorites" of 2020 felt more like books that help me escape for a time from the awfulness of the year. Thanks for sharing. Some books I liked in 2020

  46. Your description of 2020 made me laugh! I would definitely say that you are pretty accurate with your description 😂! I have not read any of the novels you listed, but I am so glad to hear that you have read many great books this year. Reading is such a wonderful escape from reality... and even more so when the year is a dumpster fire of a year! I hope 2021 holds even better books and that the year is full of love, health and happiness for you! :)

  48. Sisters of the Vast Black made my list last year, SUCH a great choice! Now I really must get to To Be Taught If Fortunate since it made your favorites list! I also loved The Cousins! It was close to making my list but lists are hard. I also really enjoyed Girls With Razor Hearts! Great choices!
