It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

Hello friends. Another weekend is here. I hope you are well. The big news this week, of course, is the revelations in the new book about Trump knowing how serious this virus was well before he let on. Can't help but wonder how many lives might have been saved with better leadership? As far as blog stuff, I'm thinking about expanding my blog on Pinterest. I got the idea from AJ's post last week. I like Pinterest a lot but to date have not really cross- promoted the blog there. I'm thinking of doing that in the coming weeks.

Oh and in other news I have the wife of QAnon on tap this week to talk a little bit about... Q. This is a Book Haven exclusive, folks. Okay, not really. Still, fun.

  1. I think a lot of governments are looking back at some of their decisions with regret at the moment. I get Trump saying he didn't want to start a panic but he should've brought in measures for masks and social distancing at the same time. The Woodward book is on my list to grab as soon as I can-his books always make interesting reading.

    1. I think so too. And yes we could have done so much better. Seriousness on masks, track and trace, instead of sowing division- I feel like would have mad huge differences.

  2. Why is anyone surprised by now by the horrible things Trump has done? Nothing shocks me at this point. And I'm so confused by the QAnon video, I have no idea what it is. I might have to Google it, lol.

    1. Right? And oh my... are you in for a treat! You'll find if you delve into QAnon it gets pretty bizarre!

  3. Such cool art! Hope you have a great weekend. :)

  4. If lives could have been saved, why wasn't it leaked to the press by Woodward after the interview and not saved until one month before the election? His claim is he didn't trust the source, but that doesn't seem to make a difference when people believe they can weaponize information. Makes you wonder. An election cycle is the worst time for anything like this to occur, because everyone in charge is more interested in doing what will advance their standing vs what is best for the American people. I'm just saying...

    1. Well, I think you can make a good case that he (Woodward) should have come forward? I mean, information saves lives? But I think he's saying the info/ interviews might have ended if he had. I gues at that point you have to make a call as to what is in the public interest the most. I would err on the side of information, myself. And I know...

  5. It's scary to think about all possibilities if this disease was taken more seriously early on. I understand not wanting to cause panic, but then to hold so many rallies with no COVID protection? And then to still take this all like it's a big joke? As for Woodward...well, the bottom line is he is not the president and couldn't make any changes in the handling of the pandemic anyway. I guess we'll never know.

  6. I hate everything so I am probably not the best one to ask here because obviously LOTS of lives could have (and STILL would have, because this is obviously nowhere NEAR over), and like- why won't anyone just STOP HIM? No let's publish BOOKS, that is the same as doing a civic duty to stop an absurd tyrant. And it isn't on ONE guy, I get that, but like, every single person in power. It's ridiculous. Good luck with Pinterest, let us know if it works!

  7. I am kind of with a couple commenters on this thread regarding the source of the Trump thing, because not only is the timing of it suspect, really I think state of this country is as horrible as it is because not only can we not trust our politicians, we can also no longer trust our press and journalists. Everyone either has an ego or an agenda, and we are all just going to lose at this point :( But on to more cheerful things, I love the art pieces you chose today. Gotta love it whenever you put in some cyberpunk!

  8. Sorry to hear the news has not been good recently, but pleased you're still enjoying the Vietnamese Girl videos and some beautiful artwork. Take care and happy reading! 😃

  9. Everyone is only doing what's best for THEM, I guess. Though preventing a pandemic from spreading would have been best for EVERYONE...Woodward included.

Good luck with Pinterest! I don't have an account (same for Instagram), but maybe I'll be able to take a peek if it's a public account? Not sure how it works...

  10. Ive about had it with everything that comes out of trumps face. More concerned about how he looks and how awesome he thinks he is and I can't believe people don't see what he is really doing.

I have been trying for years to do something with Pinterest, maybe I will look into it more.

Did you see they made Get Even on Netflix? I believe they are doing both books.

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  11. I don't think anyone else would have done any better because nobody knew how this virus was going to go. When he tried to shut things down people threw a fit, so no matter what a government official does they are always damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Those art pics are so cool!
Have a great week and happy reading!

  12. YES do join Pinterest. And I have a lot of concerns about the way the leadership all around the world with the way they handle the whole pandemic thing. I hope you stay safe!

  13. I like Pinterest, but don't do a lot with it. I mostly pin recipes and then share my reviews there on my reviews board. I would be interested to hear how that goes if you decide to try and promote your blog on Pinterest. I enjoyed looking at the artwork you included in this post :). Have a great week!

  14. I have been gobbling up tell all books about Trump. Its all stuff I had guessed, but to see it confirmed is maddening.
I cross post my posts to Pinterest, but I don't do much of anything after that. Social Media is so time consuming!

    ReplyDelete
  15. We were slow about making masks mandatory in Canada too. I think it's the thinking that these kind of disasters happen elsewhere, not in North America, and boy have we been caught unawares!

I would love to do more with Pinterest but it's one more thing on my looooong list of to-dos.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think it was pretty obvious from the start that things were more serious than he was letting on! His message was always so contradictory to the experts, and he has never given us a reason to trust him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm not surprised by anything bad discovered about Trump at this point. I don't think I could think less of the man. I'm not sure why the information was held by Woodward, though, but to be honest I didn't listen to the full story. I can't because it's all too depressing.

I used to cross post to Pinterest, but I stopped. Not sure it got many views. I do cross post on Facebook...sometimes...lol! Good luck with Pinterest! :)

  18. I feel like the biggest shocks with Trump is how he's still in office. This would be the end of any other politician but it's like screaming into the void.

Pinterest is so confusing to me and I have an account but no idea how to integrate my blog into it. Maybe I'll check out AJ's post.

  19. Yes... it's a rotten mess everywhere! I grind my teeth when I see folks in the shops with their masks UNDER their noses - what is THAT about??? And the supermarkets don't confront them, grrr... On a MUCH happier note - thank you for some awesome art this week, Greg. And it was cheering to see the girlie on the pulp cover holding the weapon for a change:)). Have a great week, Greg.

  20. In Germany it is not new that the virus is airborn. Our virologists and epidemiologists had told us that already in March/April. It surprises me that you guys are now surprised about that information. That book is the confirmation, yes but was that really such a surprise? After four years with him in the White House you should know already that he is a liar and that he will lie about the virus and other things until he is out of office for good. Anyway. I am on pinterest too, but have not done much to promote my blog there. Why? No clue to be honest. I hope you will have a wonderful new week and that you and your loved ones stay safe and well. Happy reading and happy blogging.

  21. As each new horrific morsel comes out about Trump, I am not surprised. His constant lying and his hateful behavior is just as bad as the virus!!

I have pre-ordered the Woodward book. I read his first one about Trump, too. Plus I was a fan of what he and Bernstein did during the Watergate mess.

Enjoy your week and your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  22. At least you guys are still on the topics of serious and note-worth news... In South Africa we are fighting about shampoo. I kid you not.

I link up with Pinterest every now and then. When I remember!

    Have a good week, Greg!

  24. Well to be honest nothing surprises me about Trump anymore. I think it’s unbelievable that someone like him can be a president. I sure hope things change for you guys there and he won’t be elected again.
I do enjoy Pinterest and have been cross posting.. but I never visit it to much myself. I should change that though,
Have a great week and happy reading.

  25. Those underwater mermaid pictures are gorgeous. I always enjoy the artwork you post, Greg.

My mom mentioned yesterday that Trump is going to Sacramento this coming week to check out the fires in California. I think my response was, "Why? So he can tell us we need to rake our forests more often?" He hates California. I can't imagine this will go well . . .

I hope you have a great week, Greg.

  26. I only have Democrats, mostly Progressive, left on my Facebook friends list, so I don't see any of that Qanon garbage unless one of them posts a real news article about it. I saw one friend's post this morning where the tRumpers are circulating photos of tRump photoshopped into 9/11 images "proving" he was there helping survivors, and it's obvious tRump has no ash on his clothes or body. The tRumpers are taking it hook, line, and sinker. How can they be that gullible? 😑

I haven't been well and have been struggling to post to my blog. I'm down 2K views from a couple of months ago. Maybe I should try integrating Pinterest. 📱

Thanks for the ambient! I got this bright idea to solo over instrumentals, and that song is perfect. 🎸

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  27. I refuse to Google or learn anything QAnon. It is a crazy rabbit hole I absolutely don't want to fall down! I need to utilize Pinterest more too but haven't taken the time to really figure out how. That is a rabbit hole I need to fall down! Hope you have a great week!

  28. Ha-ha. Your Q post is what I needed today. Glad to know that Hillary Clinton narrows down to Nancy. That helps. Ha-ha. My Sunday Post

  29. I cross-post to Pinterest. I don't know how if that leads to many hits on my blog, but it doesn't take long to do. I don't write anything on the pins other than the title and author. I mostly use Pinterest for recipes so I don't know what made me start cross-posting there!

Your Lost picture reminds me of the movie Ex Machina for some reason. Have it seen it? It's...unsettling. Although she looks more like the lead character from Alita: Battle Angel. Sea of Amnesia reminds me of the Disney Peter Pan movie. Enjoy your week!

  30. I fully support expanding your blog on Pinterest. It’s super time-consuming, but Pinterest is responsible for 93% of my blog’s traffic, so it’s worth the work for me. I hope you have a good week!

  31. Pinterest is great, it’s definitely worth exploring and there are a lot of good Pinterest gurus out there but it can be a major time suck. You can schedule posts and Canva is great if you want fancy templates. I do use it for the blog but generally I’m there for the food porn, I like seeing what the food bloggers have been up to!

    Have a good week!

  32. I wouldn't be surprised if he knew it for some time Greg!

  33. Such pretty art this week especially with the mermaids. I have to check out the walking tour clip next.
    I like Pinterest! It's addictive.

And yes, apparently he didn't want to create a "panic". Does he expect us to thank him or what? I can't stomach the news anymore, it's just too much :(

    Happy reading this week!

  34. Can't help but wonder how many lives might have been saved with better leadership?

As someone with a bit of epidemiology training... I don't even want to think about it. It makes me feel a bit sick.

  35. Can we ever be surprised again about DT. He is the pits, and I don't even want to think about what might be and I live far away which is good, but I hate seeing evil win. Take care - stay sane!

  36. TRump is the virus, just as sickening and potentially deadly.
I post links to Pinterest but that’s it, I haven’t bothered with a ‘business’ account. I’ll be interested to see how it works for you though.

Wishing you a great reading week

  37. Social media seems to be on lots of peoples minds at the moment, including mine! Have a great week!

  38. I've been using Pinterest for years now to cross promote the blog and even when I sell something on eBay. But it's also fun to see what others are talking about and posting on there. Very addictive! Hope you're doing well! Hugs, RO

  39. Yep, it was a busy week in politics! And I haven't had much luck with Pinterest. I worked on expanding my audience there for over a year and got nothing from it. So I stopped. Maybe you'll have more luck than me!

  40. I've been rewatching Star Trek the Next Generation and when I read "My husband is Q" I thought of the character from the show.

  41. cool walking tour. nice to see when we can't travel. anyway, I would not have the money to go there, so thanks

  42. Woodward's books has to be an interesting read and I hope to get to it soon. It gets murky when you start to wonder about timing and personal motivations, but what can you do? These days even the "good" guys seem suspect.

  43. I think I am going to have to check out that Pinterest post. I live on Pinterest I think, but don't do much with my blog on it. Have a good week Greg!

  44. Pinterest has confused me for ages — I have to go check AJ’s post out abt it by I hope something might sink in!

  45. I think all your images would make using pinterest good for you. I've used it minimally, but I think it's useful for the right people.

I wish I could say I was shocked by the info in the Trump book, but it fits him 100%. I know COVID would have been bad no matter who was leading, but I can't help but think we'd be much better off with leadership that actually 1-listened to science/doctors and 2- cared about the American people.

Hope you're having a great week! I'm behind (clearly)
