Happy May! Hope your month is off to a great start. It's been busy around here, I've got some books piling up I want to get to and there are a ton of shows I'm trying to keep up with. Good problems to have. :) The 100 of course is back and is off to an amazing start, and I'm trying to watch The Terror too. Did I mention The Chalet on Netflix is awesome? I probably did last week but in case you missed it... The Chalet is awesome. You are welcome. :)

I saw Infinity War last weekend and have... so many thoughts. Seriously that movie takes a day or two to process, so much happening. My Movie That Sucked this past week was Desperately Seeking Susan, another movie that did not suck, at least for me. Half these movies I end up liking! This week will be Kong:Skull Island, and that should be interesting. Any fans?

This past week I caught up on a few tag posts and reviewed Before Mars. This week I'll be posting a discussion on The Chalet, as well as usual stuff, and I've got a few new features coming. I'm going to be doing a rewatch of Star Trek: The Animated Series (on Netflix) and also Jonny Quest- both are pretty awesome and I've never seen all episodes of either, so I guess it will be a rewatch/ first time combo. Also I've added a few movies to the queue, including The Birds and Before I Fall.

This image is my writing prompt for the week.

The rain fell in sheets as the fire crackled, and I shivered against the cold. Occasionally gusts would blow rain in sideways and the fire would pop and hiss. No one said much, just huddled closer in a vain attempt to dry out, stay warm. All it did was rain, seemed like, anything else was a distant memory. At least we had a tarp to keep the water off. There was an explosion from below, followed by wailing, but that was nothing new. I think by now we barely noticed.

And... my comic of the week was

  2. I actually liked Kong: Skull Island - but it's not one for when you're in a deep, pondering-the-universe mood. It's entertaining rather than meaningful! XD (Also, once you've seen it, check out the Honest Trailer on YouTube - it's amazing!)

  3. Infinity War definitely took me a few days to process, and now I don't want to wait a year for the next one!

I think we've seen Kong: Skull Island, but I'm looking forward to your take on it!

  4. I don't watch a lot of movies but I really enjoyed Kong:Skull Island when I watched it with my family. And they loved it as well. :)

  5. I'm very keen to see The Terror. I saw it advertised earlier this week. My dad enjoyed Skull Island and I'm planning to watch that.

  6. I haven't watched Infinity War yet! Hope you have a fab weekend, Greg. :-)

  7. I could listen to and watch that thunderstorm all day! Have a nice weekend, Greg😊

  8. LOL that is a good problem to have :) Happy reading (and watching) this weekend!

  9. I watched Infinity Wars today too. I am confused too. I have missed many movies in between so I was missing many references. I am still confused about the end though. I am still thinking what happened to everyone :P

I hope you enjoy all of your new books.

  10. The Cyberxen and Water City are just beautiful to me <3 I need to watch Infinity Wars, but I can't find a time where everyone in my group is free!

  11. Ok. Now I’ll have to check out The Chalet.

  12. I liked the new King Kong, very cool. SO I hope it is not a sucky for ya

  13. The Chalet is already on my to-watch list and I think you did mention it - or at least I've heard about it from someone last week too.

I am getting excited for Solo, ha ha!

    Have a great week!

  15. I hope you're liking the Menagerie series. I need to re-read book one so I can continue. I love Skull Island although I refused to watch it until someone told me the fate of Kong!

  16. I'm planning to start The Chalet after your recommendation. And The Terror is going well. Lots of dynamics and mystery. Watching a Tremors marathon right now. LOL

  17. That art - Reborn - is really dope! I love it.

  18. Hmm, Skull Island was okay. It definitely wasn't meant to be anything more than an action-packed special effects laden blockbuster, so at the very least it delivers in the entertainment department! Gorgeous art choices this week too, very atmospheric pieces for writing prompts.

    1. Agree, and you know I liked it? It might be my favorite Kong movie- not because it's great cinema but I liked the island take, the shots (filming locations=gorgeous), and the fact that they didn't do the whole capture and take him to NY thing.

  19. Sometimes movies that suck end up being a lot of fun lol. And oh, yeah, I kind of didn't even realize it was May. Sounds like you've got a lot of great TV shows atm! I did some TV watching the past week too, although I'm kind of taking forever to get through the one show I've been watching on Netflix lol.

  20. I don't think I ever watched Desperately Seeking Susan. I thought The Birds was a classic, still love the movie and had a chance to see the actual town this last October. Surreal. Love all the pics, Greg! :)

    1. No? Oh you need to see it at least once. :) And I LOVE The Birds, I wanted an excuse to watch it again! Oh that would be cool going to the actual town!

  21. I was meant to take spawn to see Infinity War last Saturday, but wasn't feeling well, so his Dad took him instead. Spawn came home from the movie and was so excited he immediately spoiled the movie - lol. Worth it to see his excitement, though. Have a great week. :)

  26. Your May is starting off pretty good. I need to check out some of your watching recs. I have been so behind on watching Riverdale. I am hoping I can get the family to move out so I can watch some stuff in peace ;)

I love Halestorm, a few weeks ago we was on NXT PPV singing one of the wrestlers theme songs. It was pretty cool.

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  27. Happy May :) I'm going to have to look up The Chalet then. I remember Desperately Seeking Susan, only because I *heart* Madonna. Especially 1980's Madonna.
    Happy reading week!

  28. It sounds like May has started well for you, Greg. As ever - some WONDERFUL pics and I loved your writing... I loved Desperately Seeking Susan - it was on TV last year and I was impressed at how enjoyable and engrossing it still was. Have a great week.

  36. The Terror is excellent! A slow burn, but the acting and effects are great. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. Kong was big, dumb fun. It was a hoot to see in the theater, so I'm curious how it translates to the small screen. And I can't believe you haven't seen The Birds! That's one of my favorite Hitchcocks. Hope you get to see (and enjoy) it soon :)

    1. I like The Terror so far. Moody and atmospheric. :) And I agree about Kong! I just watched it the other day for the feature and was surprised that... I kinda liked it? It would be fun in the theater. And I have seen the Birds, actually, and I agree- it's one of my favorites! Although it's been a while and I thought it would be fun to do a reactions review. :)

  41. I’m so far behind on TV and internet stuff. It all keeps piling up, and I’m not motivated to look at it. I think I own a Kong movie. My sister’s boyfriend left one at my house. Maybe I’ll add it to my pile of stuff to watch. Have a great week!

  43. I've seen a lot of people not wanting to talk about Infinity Wars...I'm not sure if that means I really should see it, or wait for it to be on DVD.

  44. I feel kinda silly for not realizing that there was ever an animated Star Trek series, lol. Part of me wants to go see Infinity War again, but another part of me isn't sure I can handle it all over again, lol. Hope you have a great week!

  45. My daughter has the Emoji movie on right now. I really want to watch Lost in Space. I haven't really gotten into a new show since finishing the second season of Jessica Jones. Too many choices and too little television time. :-) I hope you enjoy your new books. Spectacle caught my eye. I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  47. I definitely need to watch The Chalet. I added it to my list but... obviously The Rain takes priority. And The 100, but that goes without saying. Ha, I have never seen any Kong... stuff, and I daresay I never will, so your movie chat will have to do!

I love the pictures- especially the Water City one (feels eerily plausible!), the Homeless one (very nice writing prompt, too!), and the Hydroponics one (damn, Kara really screwed up the bunker farm, eh?)

  51. I'm supposed to be going to see Infinity War this coming weekend. I've heard nothing but great things so I'm really excited to finally see it.

I've been looking for a new show to watch on Netflix so I may have to give The Chalet a try after I watch Lost in Space.

And yes, The 100! The second episode was even more incredible than the first. I feel like I'm already counting down the hours to the next one.

  52. So I just got back from watching The Avengers: The Infinity War. We couldn't stop talking about the movie on the way home. First off, I wanted to throw my 3D glasses at the screen when it ended with that huge cliffhanger. It's exactly like when we finish a book with a shocking ending and want to throw the book against the wall. Most of the audience stayed to watch what would show up after the credits, and at least that 1-minute snippet gave us an idea of what to expect in the next movie.

The Underwater Ballroom caught my eye. Enjoy your new books!

    1. Well it's very un-scientific see- I pick movies I feel like watching/ or ripping on in a good-natured way. And I was musing a few Sunday Posts ago that I really should re name the feature, since they don't all suck, as you mention, but people seemed pretty okay with it- so the title stuck. But I am going to have to tweak it because some of the upcoming movies are actually good!

I can't wait to read your review on Spectacle. I recently read Menagerie and loved it. I keep hoping my library will get the rest of the series in, but it's looking like I'm going to have to buy them.

    1. Black Panther was good. And yay for no spoilers! I tend to spoil myself or get spoiled on Twitter so it's good that I saw it, although I was gonna wait for the rush to die down- I only saw it opening weekend cause I was with a group that HAD to see it stat!

I just finished Menagerie and really liked it, and now I can't wait to read Spectacle!
