    1. Yes it's been a awesome reading year so far, totally agree! Dark Matter was really good, I highly recommend, and Illuminae- mostly so can get to Gemina, which I thought was FANTASTIC!

  4. Looks like a great list. I keep seeing Dark Matter around. For me some reason I can't quite bother to pick up Gemina even though I liked Illuminae. I don't know what that is.

    1. Oh I thought Gemina was awesome. Way more than illuminae (although that's just me, I've heard others say they liked Illuminae better). And dark Matter- good stuff!

  5. Great list! One of Us is Lying keeps popping up on my radar, I must check it out!

  7. I already read "Dark Matter" last year so that I couldn't put it on my list but it was definitely one of my 2016 highlights!

I'm also glad to see "Gemina" which made it onto my list as well. It might have lacked some fresh ideas compared to "Illuminae" but I found it (almost) just as thrilling and addictive and I still love the concept a lot.

  13. YES FOR DARK MATTER!! Haha, it made my list, too!

  14. I don't have any plans to read any of these though I have heard of all of them I think! Probably from your blog through the year! Blake Crouch is one that I always mean to look at but never get round to trying...

    ReplyDelete

    1. Ha ha I tried Blake Crouch through Wayward Pines (loved it) and when I saw the premise for Dark Matter I had to try it.

  15. I read Dark matter too, strangely compelling

    1. It's almost like a suspense thriller more than SF, you know? Kind of tense. Great read!

  17. Oooh, interesting to see All Systems Red on your list! I saw it recently when I was buying a few ebooks but I didn't really click on it to check out the premise. Will have to look into it :)

    1. I loved A Darkness Absolute and can't wait for more of that series. And Gemina- I can't say enough good things. Lots of people thought Illuminae was a smidge better but for me gemina was fabulous. Love the characters- especially Ella! You'll see lol.

      Stranje House- LOVE those.

  21. I'm glad you enjoyed these so much! :)
I haven't actually read any of them, but there's a few I've been really intrigued by, so I may have to check them out. Radio Silence for example, primarily because I love that cover, and One of Us Is Lying. And I've been meaning to check out the Illuminae books for a while, but everytime I flick through them in the bookshop I'm just so baffled by the format that I don't end up buying them. But everyone loves them so much I think I should just get over it and give them a try! :)

    1. Radio Silence is great- and it's one of my favorite covers. One Of Us Was Lying was quite good. And Illuminae- seriously they were a fast read for me due to the format. I also read them as e-books which everyone recommends not to since it's hard to read some of the pages, again due to format, but I didn't have THAT much trouble. I'll be honest, I liked Illuminae but Gemina was WAY better

  39. Dark Matter and Gemina were amazing! A Darkness Absolute was good too, even if it didn't blow me away like the first book did. The Rains also had a great concept, and I think those are all the ones I've read from this list!

    1. I thought so too. I love that setting and the remoteness. And Dark Matter was mind bendy wasn't it?

How Will I Know You was quite good, kind of a thriller/ mystery but it seems to fly under the radar, I haven't seen it around a lot.

  49. Dark Matter was really good. I think it made my list last year.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The theme of a lot of these seems to be "menacing" at least based on the covers, lol! Dark Matter is already on my TBR and I'm suddenly wondering if it is connected to the TV Show Dark Matter? If so I didn't love the show but I've seen enough people rave about the book that I'm gonna pretend they are not connected.

I've never read Kelley Armstrong and for sure need to. I feel like this year I am suddenly seeing her books everywhere which I think I should take as a sign.

Hope it's been a good reading year so far!

    1. They do, don't they? Not sure what that says about my reading choices lol. And no Dark Matter the book is not related to the show at all. They're totally diff.

I was seeing Kelley Armstrong everywhere too, along w/a few other urban fantasy writers, and I finally tried her with the City of the Lost books. seemed like a good plac to start. :)

  51. Boy oh boy you've got a couple books on here I've been meaning to read. Dark Matter, The Illuminae Files series, and One of Us is Lying. They all sound so good, and I've heard nothing but amazing things about all of them.
I've heard Dark Matter is a bit of a mind bender, would you agree?? I love a good mind bender :)

    1. Yay Dark Matter is good and so is Illuminae- I thought the second Illuminae was even better than the first! And One Of Us Is Lying- I liked that one too!

Dark Matter is a little trippy - if you like mind benders you may love it! Especially once it gets going, and towards the end- I was like SERIOUSLY???
