Sunday Post #30/ It's Monday. What Are You Reading?

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

I start a new job soon and am pretty excited about it. It's a great new opportunity and a good career move, too. I did get some reading done this week and posted a review for Vitro. It rocks, by the way.

My reading may slow down a bit initially with the new job, but I'm only doing about a book a week anyway. It's funny how you can get used to something- before I started blogging I didn't really have anyone to discuss books with, at least not at this level. Now I can't imagine not reviewing my latest read, or discussing it with other bloggers! And all the books I've discovered, thanks to so many of you- wouldn't have even known about 'em.

CURRENTLY READING

Mulled Murder

NEW THIS WEEK

No new books this week!

  1. Mulled Murder looks interesting. We usually have snow on the ground from Oct to April and need to dig out regularly..this year it has been bitter cold with little snow. We did get 2 inches last night,.but here that is nothing. Have a wonderful week!

  2. I've heard the same things about the Star Wars books and I guess that's the downfall of having so many writers. I have heard the Thrawn books are really good though. The comic costume discussion is pretty fun. I've had the same discussion with my friends and we kind of decided that some costumes would work and others wouldn't. Somethings just don't translate well...like anything with briefs over tights. I only watch the Superbowl for the commercials, so I'll definitely be looking for the Captain America trailer (and the Budwieser horses)

  5. I will check out your discussion of POVs...sounds interesting. Congratulations on your new job. It sounds like you're not having to move for it? That's always good! Also good luck with the rest of winter weather. I hope it gets better soon. And I totally agree about how great blogging has been. So much fun to talk to people about books.

  6. Good Luck with the new job, it's always a bit scary first I think and you sort of have to build up your new routines. OK, I have to say a bit innocently (sorry) I didn't know there were Star Wars books , I suppose because movie-wise I'm not really into it, though I love other Sci-Fi.

    1. I don't think you've missed too much, to be honest. I've never really read any either til now. I liked the movies, but never felt the need to read the fiction.

      Thanks Peggy, appreciate it.

  7. Most of our snow melted this weekend because temps were in the 40's and 50's. But--now we are expecting 3-5 inches beginning tonight. Ugh! Good luck with the new job and thanks for visiting my blog.

  9. We are suppose to get a bunch of snow tomorrow. I think I have had enough :)
I also realize I don't think I can read a book without reviewing or chatting about it. Blogging has to be the best thing I ever decided to do!!!
Good Luck on your new job! I hope you have a great week!!

  10. Captain America 3 already!? I am looking forward to two though haha.
I'm so behind in watching Game of Thrones because I want to read the books first, but I've been stuck on Clash of Kings for a while now, hopefully I'll get through it soon!

    Have a great week Greg!

    1. I know! The second one isn't even out and they're talking about the third! Surprised me. I think the books are a lot better than the show, but I know a lot of people love the show and that's cool too. I compare the show to the books too much... :)

  11. Best on that new job, Greg. Only a week w/out books won't be bad - your focus will be consumed with the new post I'm pretty sure - then back to the books will be a treat =)

  14. Hard to imagine that much snow ... we think it's cold here in the middle of winter and it rarely ever drops below 0 lol. Enjoy your reads and good luck with the new job ... exciting times :)

  15. I wonder why we don't get snow days as adults too. lol I could use a snow day. :) Congrats on the new job. Enjoy your week.

  16. Congratulations on your job!

I have only had a few snow days. Mostly we either open the library a little late or close it a little early on bad days. My mother is a teacher so she has had many snow days this year so far. I am so ready for spring! It feels like we are living in Westeros with the long winter...

I hope you are enjoying Heir to the Empire. I haven't read other Star Wars fiction that measures up to this series. It is hard to bring those beloved characters into a novel and get them right.

    1. Yes it is, so far I like what he's doing with the characters. It feels like a natural progression for the most part. It's not bad, the villains aren't doing much for me but I like the sequences with Luke, Han and Leia.

Love the Westeros reference! A 10 year summer wouldn't be bad... :)

  17. I haven't read any of the Star Wars books except the ones written by Patricia C. Wrede. Timothy Zahn is a well know Science Fiction author though. The writing should be okay. Come see my Monday Report here. Happy reading!

  18. ahh CONGRATS ON THE NEW JOB! :D
    That's great news.

We don't get snow days though so I am kind of jealous. No matter how much it snows, the city just won't shut down. .-. I don't want to have to get up every day ya know?

I was really happy to hear about Kate DiCamillo's Newbery.. I used to love her as a child and I am really temped to get my hands on a copy and devour it. Nostalgia :P

Have a great week, Greg! :)

    1. Thanks Rashika! I'm not a morning person, so I could take a snow day every day!

She writes some great stuff, so I'm really happy for that win.

  19. Everyone's raving about Game of Thrones but I haven't watched it... and now it's already in its 4th season.. wow. I might try it sometime, I don't know :D
Anyway, have a great week! :D And oh, always keep warm haha. :)

    1. The books are better... but that's just me. :) I'm actually surprised how popular it is. I guess it didn't occur to me that people might not want to read 1000 page books, but would still enjoy the show.

  20. I agree about the weather. We actually had snow in NC last week and the kids had 2 snow days. This morning it was 63Āŗ and raining though the temp is slowly dropping. I just don't get Mother Nature this year.

We have quite a few Star Wars books. Maybe around 40 or so. We're trying to collect them all since we like them and our 14yo son is Star Wars crazy. I've read about a sozen or so and even though there are differnet authors, they havent' been too bad. At least, not the ones I've read. lol

congrats on the new job and good luck! :)

  21. I LOVED the trailer for Capt America last night! My seven year old was begging to see it (uhhh, that's a NO!). And our household still has a ban on GRRM b/c he took his freakin' sweet time on A song of ice and fire series and wrote all sorts of short stories and other books in the meantime. My hubs just can't get over that so no Game of Thrones is allowed - men are so silly sometimes :D HA!!!

Good luck on the new job!!!!! Congrats!!!

  22. Good luck with the new job. My husband is a teacher so he does get snow days. It's not fair that he gets to stay home when I have to go to work. I'm looking forward to season 4 of GoT. I finally got caught up with season 3 last month!
