Well the first full week of December is behind us and I feel like Christmas is approaching fast- like a freight train.  Hope you're having a great start to the holiday season as well.

  1. Greg, I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet...eek! I thought we would do it next weekend but somehow it looks crazy busy. We may have to venture out mid week. hmm, making I can get dinner out thrown in the mix..LOL I am curious about Dangerous Woman, and am off to read about the dude with no car. We recently sized down to one car, and somehow we manage. Have a lovely week and enjoy that Christmas music!

  2. Lol, if I had my way I would have done all of my shopping in November. I really want to read Martin's books and Dangerous Women. I might check out that car story. I have a car but I don't drive due to anxiety issues.

    1. I thought it was really interesting, I do think we are so dependent on our vehicles in a lot of ways, and the way some people drive there are times I'd rather not be out there!

I wish I did my shopping a lot earlier too... :(

  3. Christmas will definitely be here before we know it. I am a terrible Christmas shopper and usually wait until the last minute. I hate the malls this time of year but Amazon is my best friend. That article on the guy with no car sounds very interesting. I actually just bought a new car. Lol. Have a great week!

    1. I know, I always want to get an early start and it seems like every year I'm still shopping right before Christmas. Sigh. The malls are crazy, I may need to use Amazon more that's a great idea. You have a great week too and good luck with the shopping!

  4. I've put a small dent in my Christmas list by shopping online. Still have lots to do, especially decorating. Why do I feel like this holiday sneaks up on me every year????

  5. I've picked up a few things, but the bulk of shopping will hopefully be done before next weekend or at least done by the 20th. *fingers crossed* I wish we could get some snow here in NC. Rain and Christmas lights are so depressing.

  6. I picked up a few things that I think some people will do. You are so lucky. Lots to do. Hoping to get more done.

  7. I have Dangerous Women on hold at my library--but it's still on order so it will be awhile before I can read it. I'll have to watch for your review of it. So many good authors have stories in the book. Good luck with the Christmas shopping. I've done most of mine online which is great...I don't like stores this time of year! Have a good week.

    1. Dangerous women is a big book, good grief. Big fat hardcover and a lot of pages- I might read a few of the stories and save the rest for other times, but I am going to try and review the Princess and the Queen soon...

You're smart to avoid the stores, I think a lot of people are shopping online and I need to do more of that. I have to get busy...

  9. They're making The Silver Chair into a movie?! I thought they'd given up after Dawn Treader (which took too many liberties with the book, probably one reason it didn't do as well.) I hope they do well with this one, and stay close to the original book. (But I'm not sure anyone can do Puddleglum as well as Tom Baker did in the TV adaptation...)

As for Christmas coming like a freight train, I know what you mean. I'm starting to panic a little over how much I've got to get done this week!

  10. I'm so glad to be finished holiday shopping - I did it all very early this year. I haven't heard of the books you featured, but I hope you love them!

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

  11. I'm curious about Dangerous Women...I can only imagine! I was just watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix (about a woman's year in prison), and there is plenty of danger there!

Thanks for visiting my blog...and enjoy your week.

    1. It's quite a diverse anthology- not all of it is my cup of tea, frankly, but there are some short stories that are good. Thanks for stopping and hope you're enjoying the holiday season.

  13. I'm really tempted to buy Ready Player One because the hardcover is only $7.99 online right now haha. I hope you're enjoying Dangerous Women! Thanks for stopping by Bookmunchies (:

    1. Ooh that sounds like a good deal. I paid more than that for the paperback. :) I wasn't sure what to expect from it, honestly, but so far its good.

      Thanks for visiting!

  14. I need to focus on getting some shopping done. The few presents I have to ship are bought thankfully. Ready Player One keeps getting borrowed off my shelf. I hope it makes it way back to me. Have a great week.

    1. Me too, only two weekends to go! Yikes. I hope Ready Player One gets back to you, I started it this weekend its different from what I've been reading bit good so far. I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

  16. I'm partially done with shopping. And have absolutely no decorating done. I just saw a clip on the news about people not buying cars until they are in their 50s.

    1. Well I couldn't manage without a car here, but our news is from a large city so...

Yes. The holidays are approaching too quickly.

  17. How are you liking "Dangerous Women"? The book sounds great, and I may add it to my TBR list, but I'd like to read other's opinion first!

Take a look at what I'm reading this week.

    1. Well I've only read the GRRM story The Princess and the Queen, and that was good, although different from his usual stuff in that its more of a straight narrative and not the POV style he uses in Song of Ice and Fire. The story is good though. I've heard that Diana Gabaldon's story is also good, but haven't read it yet...

  18. Yes, be sure to take time to enjoy the season. :) I love snow, and have been known to wake my husband up to see it falling. Lol.

I can't wait to see The Hobbit 2!

    1. That's funny! It is fun this time of year and I'd rather have a snowy Christmas than not. I'm trying to slow down and savor the season and not get too stressed out. :)

I'm excited about the Hobbit 2 as well, even though I haven't seen the first one yet. People said the first one was too long and all that, so I kinda waited, but now I need to see it and I'm all ready for this one, it looks good!

  19. I am so nervous about another Narnia movie! I grew up with those BBC movies and I want these to be good, but I'm just not sure they will be....

    1. I'm a little skeptical too, I thought the first one was pretty good but not so sure about the last two. I never saw the BBC versions I really should seek them out. I also don't remember the books as well since its been so long, I remember Horse and his Boy and Dawn Treader probably the best...

  20. I've got a couple of gift cards ordered for Christmas,so I guess that's progress.

I'm waiting for Dangerous Women to come in at the library. I don't know if I'll read all the stories, though, since my TBR pile is overwhelming me. I'll probably poke around GR and Amazon to see if there are any consensus likes or dislikes.

I'm reading S. by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst right now. It's very interesting and reminds me a bit of Night Film by Marisha Pessl.

    1. That is progress! I have so much to do, its not even funny. :)

I probably won't read all of the stories either, even though I splurged on it. I mean eventually I might, but I'm not tackling the whole thing right now- kinda picking and choosing since Ready Player One is on my radar too. :)

S sounds interesting, I don't know much about it but I've seen people talking. I'll have to get on Goodreads and scope it out. Thanks!
