Sunday Post 375

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

So as I write this on Friday night the election is in the books but we are still awaiting a call. It's looking like Biden. I know there are many of us who are waiting for this national nightmare to be done- but there's no guarantee of smooth sailing going forward. We'll have to stay positive.

I'm having pizza tonight instead of my usual Chinese. Switching it up! Hope everyone has a great weekend and a great week ahead!

Song of the week

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

BOOKISH LINKS

More walking tours.

Ginza shopping! Okay, this next one is nice- note the manga/ anime starting at 22:08 and 23:37.

Interesting- the lights are nice at :43, is that a guy urinating at 1:48???, and cosplayers at 2:49

I HAVE to share these.

And, lastly, another tour, but this one on a bike. See the Godzilla head. This is nice because it has subtitles- the rider talks about the route. Nice downtown view and I had to laugh when he talks about the shifty people called "touts".

  1. Yeah, talk about the craziness, it really has been a nightmare! Frankly this election has been a disgrace, and every day that goes by I grow more horrified with the mounting anomalies. Seriously, less advanced countries can run smoother elections, and it's looking like no matter the outcome our country will still be torn apart as faith in our electoral system plummets in the process. The rest of the month should be super fun, whee! Anyway, on to happier things because I'm trying hard to be positive as well, and I gotta say I think I need more of those cozy winter hut videos :D I'm missing your usual art pieces too, though I do love the long haul freighter one.

    1. I know! I often feel like we're a banana republic the way we're running things. But yes happier thoughts are good! At the end of the day I've taken so much comfort in the book blog community - they've been a lifesaver. I want to live in that cozy hut!!!

  2. I think it will be a long wait before getting an actual 'result'. Yes projections look like Biden but who knows what will happen after courts get involved. I'm hearing experts say that votes posted on or after election day should be counted...how can that be legal, whoever you support! If you post it through the mail on election day, there can't be any way it would get there in time, and why have an election day if you accept stuff posted after it? I'm glad our UK elections are more straightforward!

    1. Yeah there's going to be a lot of uncertainty even now that the results have been released. The next two months could be iffy! I think the thing about the hodgepodge of laws is exactly that- we have 50 states which makes everything so chaotic, with some accepting ballots postmarked election day and others not.

  3. I'm praying for you guys, and I don't even do prayers LOL. The victory margins are SO strict though. Let's hope "that" guy doesn't start a civil war afterwards.

How are you, Covid-wise? Have you shaken off the symptoms?

    1. Thank you!! It looks like (from my POV) that things are better!!!!!

I feel much better! I feel like I've never had it, although I'm wary of long term effects creeping in I hear so much of that.

  4. I'm so embarrassed to be an American right now (well I have been for the last 4 years) but this election is the icing on the cake. The bright spot is all the funny election memes that I've seen, at least they've made me laugh! And what's up with that Paula chick, lol?

  6. I thought the last few years were bad, I shudder to think what the next few months will be like until the orange turd is evicted.
    Pizza is good :)

Wishing you a great reading week

  7. I love that your doing virtual tours! I lived in Japan for over three years. It really is overwhelming, and exciting and completely enchanting. I hope you get to visit one day. Have a great weekend.

  8. A National nightmare, yep that’s one way to put it! As an outsider I find it bonkers how long everything takes, I feel for you all because Trump is making himself look a tit and I don’t think he is going to go quietly. One things is for sure it makes our UK elections look simple!

    1. Oh my gosh our elections last forever! I'm so over it. I was heartened to see Boris Johnson send regards (I know he's controversial) but I'm hoping things like that will slowly convince Trump it's time to leave!

  9. At least one weight has been lifted off many of our shoulders as of today. I have been joking all day that I had forgotten what hope felt like--and suddenly I have it again. I don't generally watch the news (I do read it though), but today I find myself wanting to take in all the news I can--about the celebrations and hearing people talk about positive change again. About healing and coming together. I know it will not be easy. Look how close the election was. But there's a sense of hope now. Pizza sounds good. :-)

I hope you have a great week, Greg. Stay safe.

    1. Right! And same. I just want a normal Prsident who doesn't tweet bullshit all day and laze around. And hope is SO important. I feel like many of us have it again.

  10. I am DYING at the "Woman Stranded at MAGA rally". DYING. And the guy is pretty hilarious too bwahahha. The "spiritual advisor" is a complete nutcase and we love to see it. Imagine the wailing she'll be doing now 😂

Also, I swear every time I come here I want Chinese, so thanks for that. Maybe one day I will find a decent Chinese place but let's be real, probably I'll just keep whining about it 😂

    1. Right? She's the bomb. And the kicker is... people believe her! I saw a thing where Michel Moore thought she was MAGA!!! :):) And oh my gosh that advisor...??!???

  11. So glad that there's an answer finally in the election. Yes, Trump will go to the courts, but I think it's pretty pointless for him. What is up with that Paula chick? Wow, looks like some looney tunes to me! lol!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh yikes Paula! Does she make a lot of money for that kind of rhetoric. My guess is she does!I sat glued today to the TV and enjoyed the two speeches. I think they will at the least have the world respecting the USA again and I really do hope they can do something within as well. Pizza is good!

  13. I feel like I always moan about the state of politics in SA. At least we KNOW we live in a Banana Republic and expect it from our ruling heads. At this stage, I am glad I'm not an American! Well, hopefully all will be better now.

PS: Did anyone actually like Trump?? I can't find anyone on the blogosphere!

Have a good week Greg, here's my The Sunday Post #17

  14. Yes ! Biden is elected and Trump is out, finally ! But I'm afraid the end of the year is going to be chaotic for the USA.
Pizza friday here too ! I usually come home late from work on fridays, but even when I don't work, my family is about to start a revolution if there is no pizza. At least, with the lockdowns, I can now make them myself. Habe a good week, Greg, glad to see you're feeling better :)

  16. It feels like I've aged a million years waiting on the presidential result to be called and it isn't even my election! I feel for you guys but I'm celebrating with you that it's went in Biden's favour!

Both chinese and pizza sound awesome. We're back in a second lockdown (although it's not as strict as the first one) so it'll be a few more weeks before I can have either - unless I make it myself!

Hope you have a good week, Greg! I love the blizzard video. I find it soothing. :)

    1. Same. Our elections take forever and now we can't even get timely results lol. Glad it's over though (although it's probably not really).

I love pizza and Chinese :):)

  17. Yeah, even with the (apparent) outcome, I have zero hope for a smooth transition. I'm sure the Cheeto will order his team to be as uncooperative as possible with Biden's team. Par for the course with him. Pizza instead of Chinese? You rebel! :) That spiritual advisor scares me. lol

  37. I feel very hopeful for the future now that we have a projected winner, but after what we've seen the past 4 years, I can't even imagine that there would be a smooth transition. The Secret Service dragging him out of the White House kicking and screaming seems the most likely scenario, lol.

  40. it's a relief the election has been decided, but who knows where we go from here. i had thought, when trump won in 2016, that we were going to get a history lesson on the real workings of our government and it will be interesting to see how everything plays out

  41. I wish I could relax now that the election is over, but Trump is going to drag it out as long as possible. I just want to mute him on Twitter and never think about him again! Pizza and Chinese are two of my favorite foods. I have a hard time choosing between them.
