So this week is the big invitational for marching band and color guard, and I'll be volunteering again as in past years. Not that it's really volunteering- everyone involved is supposed to help out, and that's fine really. No one minds- it's an amazing event. Should be a busy day tomorrow! And I was just thinking how much I love this time of year. The air is colder, the sky is often beautiful with cloudy, moonlit nights- and there's just something in the air. I love the colors, the smell of bonfires, everything else. I was coming home the other night and there was a huge moon in the sky- a harvest moon, I guess- and it was so beautiful, and also so atmospheric with the rapidly moving clouds and the bite in the air. I could have stared up all night. :)

Do you want to know what happens in Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker? Probably not, but if you want to be spoiled, you're in business, because here you can see the ENTIRE outline of the movie. And from all accounts it's pretty darn accurate, including recent reshoots.

  1. I enjoy this time of the year-except getting up first thing in the morning to a cold room and putting on the fire! It feels horrible until the room heats!

  2. Wow, you're a poet!
I always welcome fall after the draining summer. Except the weather starts to act all crazy and you never know what's coming from an hour to the next.

  3. I love this time of year too. It's still Summer weather here but by the end of the month it should cool down a bit.

  4. Ooh the story outline of the new Star Wars is tempting, but I really don't want to know, so I'm gonna stay strong and resist spoilers! And ah, Coruscant in SWTOR, that brings back memories! I remember first stepping onto the spaceport and was wowed by the sights and sounds...of course, after a while it got to be a pain in the butt to run clear across the map for every quest turn-in, haha! The whole game is huge!

  6. I love fall for the same reasons as you, Greg! And we had one of those huge moons last week too, I think on Tuesday / Wednesday. It was still there when I left for work on Wednesday morning and it looked humongous.
I hope you'll have a wonderful week with excellent reads!

  7. The only Star Wars games I remember playing were the SNES Star Wars and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga.

I heard about The Rise of Skywalker leaks.

  8. I'm envious of that "real" autumn experience that you describe: cooler temps, changing colors, bonfires. Sounds perfect. :)

  9. Ali Wong is hilarious. One of my co-workers introduced me to her, and I laughed so much. I hope your band event went well. It sounds like a fantastic time

  10. Fall is almost the best time of the year. Not too warm and not too cold. Well, this fall is way to warm around here but the leaves are great to look at. Have a great weekend and happy reading.

  13. Sounds like you will have a busy time with the marching band thing. :) I am very sad to say I think today might be our last day of 70's weather. I am sad so very sad, I like fall but it's just going by to quickly and I don't want an early winter. :(

Have a great week and happy reading!

  15. I hope you had a great time at the invitational. I remember taking part in those when I was in high school and it was always a fun day. It's pouring rain here today, but otherwise I have definitely been enjoying the cooler temps and being able to pull out all of my cozy sweaters.

  18. Glad you appreciate the cooler weather so much, Greg - and I know the kind of moon you mean... It is fabulous when it looms so large in a chilly clear sky. And I love your accompanying soundtrack - Sisters of the Moon:)). I hope the band event went well and that the coming week is a peaceful, happy one.

  20. I wish we got a true fall in Southern California. We don't get a lot of the seasonal changes but it has been getting cooler and the air is more crisp! I love it :) Hope you have a great week!

  21. I love this time of year too. And I'm hoping they lift the burn ban now that we've got some rain so I can build a few fires. Nothing like sitting around and stoking the flames:) Have a blast volunteering at the event, Greg!

  22. We still don't have that Autumn feel down in the South yet but I'm impatient for it! Have a great week! :D

  26. I'm loving the cooler fall temps, too! The leaves changing colors were beautiful up north. They're just starting to change in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately, we're going to be back in the 90s this week! *sobs*

I'm behind on Star Wars, but I didn't hear a whole lot of good things about the last one. I'm not sure I want to know whats going on. Hope you have a nice time at the marching band/color guard event.

  27. I love the cooler temperatures, too! And the changing leaves, though we're not getting much of that yet. It was so dry in August and September and the high temperatures continued so late into the season, that the leaves are just drying up, turning brown, and falling off, instead of changing color. I'm hoping that the rain we've begun to get will help, but we'll see. I loved your description of that harvest moon, too.

I will probably try to avoid spoilers for the Star Wars movie, unless my curiosity gets the better of me. I hope they pull off a satisfying ending, though. I'm having a hard time imagining any kind of redemption arc for Kylo Ren... or at least, one that I could accept, given that he killed his own father.

Have fun at your marching band event!

  28. I'm a summer gal, but I do like the sunny autumn days of apple picking and pumpkin recipes. Fleetwood Mac brings back so many memories! Enjoy your new book.

  29. Hope the invitational went well! I am not totally a fan of the cooler weather, but on the plus side, I can go to the grocery store and not have to drive right home? It's the small things, I suppose hah. I LOVE that Mothership picture, the colors are great and the thing looks so perfectly futuristic!

  30. Enjoy your invitational ... it sounds like an entertaining event.

Wishing you a great reading week

  33. Oo I love a fall night. They are the best, like you said so atmospheric. And the moon has been insane this month. Just gorgeous!!

  34. I agree that fall is the best. I am excited for the next Star Wars movie but i definitely don't want to be spoiled!!! Have a great week.

  38. Enjoy the invitational! I miss those since my older kids are out of school. I'm so curious about this Star Wars movie! It'll be interesting to see how it all wraps up. We were supposed to see the new Star Wars land at Disney World earlier this month but had to reschedule to February and I cannot wait! Hope you're having a great week!

  40. I hope everything went well with the marching band/color guard. This is a great time of year, especially in areas where the trees really change colors (not so much here in Dallas).

    Have a great week :)

  41. Sounds like tons of fun with the marching band, and I agree that the colors this time of year are so vibrant and stunning. I just need it to be about 30 degrees cooler here in NC.please.(lol) Hugs and Happy Wednesday!

  42. Fall is going too quickly! It seems like it's only been October for a week or so, but here we are nearing the end. November is usually more like winter here, so most of it doesn't count as fall for me. 😕

    I love band tournaments! 🎺!

    Thanks for the ambient! 🎶

I hope you had a wonderful start to your week. 🌞
