Tuesday Tagline #155

Tumblr

The wanderer gleamed balefully in the sky- was it a new world for Man or a messenger of ultimate destruction?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten Books That I'd Like In My Personal Library. Interesting topic. I do tend to buy a lot of books on Kindle, so I don't have tons of new books going on my shelves- I generally only buy physical copies of books I really like or want to have. Except for when I impulse buy in a bookstore, but we won't get into that. So...

 The Shark Club

The Shark Club.

I was really impressed with this and had to have a copy. And yes, Barb, you probably knew this would be here, right???

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)

The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet.

I love this whole series and have them all, but this one is my favorite and if I had to pick one to own, it would be this one.

The Blue

The Blue

Another good book that I just wanted to have a physical copy. I love the idea of living on a yacht for a while, sailing from place to place, although hopefully murder wouldn't be part of the itinerary.

Bad Girls with Perfect Faces

Bad Girls With Perfect Faces.

Why isn't this on Netflix yet???

A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5)

A Dance With Dragons

I pretty much need this in my library- my fave of the series.

Eight Hundred Grapes

Eight Hundred Grapes

I won this in a giveaway a few years ago but I'm so glad to have a hard copy.

The Extinction Trials (The Extinction Trials, #1)

The Extinction Trials

I hardly see anyone reviewing these but they are so fun!

Lost Girls

Lost Girls

Again, I need Netflix to get on this

Planet of Exile (Hainish Cycle #2)

Planet of Exile

A favorite

The Winds of Winter (A Song of Ice and Fire, #6)

The Winds of Winter

I can dream, right?

  1. So many books I haven't read. I rarely buy books so it was hard to choose which ones I would buy. Books I want to own

  2. I buy WAY too many books, which is really a problem, but at the same time I feel like I also get rid of several if a: I don't care for them or b: they'd been sitting on my shelf without being read for year or c: publishers send unsolicited books that just don't sound like my kind of reads. Still, I do know I need to work on my book buying habits.

  3. I have several books on Kindle too, but usually if I really love a book I'm going to want a physical copy of it (which is a pain because I need to move and I have no idea how I'll do it). That cover of The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet is really beautiful, I can see why you would pick it. I was about to buy the whole Game of Thrones series the other day but I decided to wait and see what I thought of the first book first.
    Great post!

  4. I want a physical copy of The Long Way too but I want it to match my hardcovers of the other ones and so far I can only find paperbacks. I still hope one day they will rerelease it in hardcover.

  5. Great list! The physical copies of the Wayfarers books are so pretty, I love having them on my shelves - I hope you manage to pick them up soon. :)

  6. I love having physical books, but the stacks can quickly get out of hand. I'm mostly at that time of life where I'm downsizing, and that, for me, primarily means sending my books back out into the world.

  7. I've heard a lot of good things about the Becky Chambers books and that cover is stunning!

  8. I love your lists Greg, you always have the best most diverse books on them!

  9. I have the Extinction Trials because of you but I haven't gotten to it yet - when I do, I will def tell you! I'm excited for it. I sometimes wish I didn't go as crazy as I do with physical books because mine is wayyyyy out of control!

  10. Heh, impulse buys in bookstores are irresistible sometimes.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet has been on my TBR forever. Really need to read that one.

And I agree with Verushka. You come up with such diverse sets of books.

  11. I preordered A Dance with Dragons when it came out; it is an enormous book! I've seen you talk about Becky Chambers so many times, I swear I am going to read that book this year!

  12. I need to get The Extinction Trials. I need to just break down and order them all from somewhere. I'm not sure they are available on kindle yet. At one time they weren't but I guess they must if you need a physical copy. I soooo assumed you already had a copy of The Shark Club. Maybe I'll read this in November. Usually October is filled with scary reads and I'm doing a Monsterathon in September as well but I really have to know what this book is all about :)

  13. I'm similar, most of my books are on kindle these days so this was an unusual theme for me this week. In fact it made me realise that in the past couple of years I think I've bought less than 10 physical books.
I like your last choice - fingers crossed for you with that one.
    Lynn :D

  14. I agree with others. You have a good variety here, and I've not read any of them. I'm going to have to fix that. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.

  15. That surprises me that you don't have a physical copy of GoT (although not surprising that Winds of Winter isn't there... I'm pretty sure the publisher isn't going to even bother with ARCs for that one).

  16. Darn those impulse buys. ;) I hardly ever buy physical books anymore except for my girls who prefer physical copies, especially of manga since it just isn't the same on a Kindle or computer/phone. I love so many of the book covers they have out now though that it is hard to resist buying them sometimes!

  17. I always see you talk about A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. Even I think you need to own that one, haha.

  18. I have not read nay of these. They all sound pretty good. Here is my posthttps://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2019/08/top-ten-tuesdays-books-i-never-get-rid.html.

  19. I don't buy many books anymore either. Even Kindle. I'm so addicted to the library(ebooks and audio) right now. I do impulse buy a few paperbacks here and there though and a few Kindle ebooks but there aren't many books I need on my shelf.

  20. Oooh, I love that tagine--and that cover! Definitely intrigues me. There are so many books on this list that I still need to check out! And I truly hope you get to hold Winds of Winter in your hands one day! ;)

  21. I do the same thing, I only buy physical copies of books I really want. And even then I get most of my books at discount places, then donate the ones that I don't plan on re-reading. I haven't read any of these books, but I want to start Song of Ice and Fire soon. But I don't know if I should borrow the ebook or the audiobook from my library.

  22. The Others on a cd so that I can watch them in my shelf

  23. This was such a great list. The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet is on my to read list and I cannot wait to purchase it at the end of my book buying ban (or maybe earlier).

Retro covers of sci-fi books are the best!

  24. Ursula K. Leguin was a fantastic writer.

  25. I love the cover of the Tuesday Tagline book. It looks like a Roger Moore James Bond! I'm not surprised to see Shark Club or The Deep on your list. I really need to find copies of both and give them a try. They sound wonderful!

  26. I think we would all like to have the last GRRM book on our shelves, but I wonder if we will ever truly get it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh gosh... I wonder of Martin will ever complete that series. He isn’t getting any younger!

  28. I am a fan of Weingarten's books. Her writing is amazing.

  29. The Winds of Winter. 😆

I wish they would re-release The Long Way in hardcover through the new publisher. 😢

  30. I'm right there with you dreaming for that Geroge R.R. Martin book, lol.

  31. lol XD love the last pick, had to take a second.

    ReplyDelete
  32. One day I AM going to read The Extinction Trials! I've seen you talk about it so much!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't tend to keep a lot of books - well not counting the unread ones, lol. I don't have the room but Geek Love by Katherine Dunn is one I want always hanging around because I like to reread it every few years.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You've got a few on here I haven't heard of, but am definitely interested in! Some sequels I didn't even know were a thing. Great picks!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bad Girls With Perfect Faces has a crazy cover. Those flies are freaking me out. Now that's a cover to talk about.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What?????? You don't have George in your library Greg? Come on! You gush about it to often that I thought you had every book twice! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  37. That's a great list! Some are new one to me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Not gonna lie - after seeing that dollar fifty price tag on the first book, it was hard to see anything else. Boy do I miss those prices! LOL

There are so many books I want in my personal collection, too, but I'll just have to be happy with the library.

    Thanks for sharing!

  39. I really wish The Extinction Trials got more love!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Urg, I would kill to have Winds of Winter! 😂 😂

  41. As much as I adore paperbacks and hardcovers my eyes don't really do well with them anymore due to my unknown allergy. Like you, most if not all, my books are from amazon or kobo. When I was a kid thrift store book sections were a treasure trove of amazing books for low prices. I miss those days :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. You and I seem to have similar buying habits. :-) This is a great list, Greg. Several of these are books I wouldn't mind on my shelf either.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I still need to read Bad Girls with Perfect Faces! It's on my cart, so it'll get read sooner than some of the others, but ugh. There's simply no time for everything. Especially when I re-read the ACOTAR series instead of using the time to get ahead. ;)

  46. I love classic scifi, in fact I am currently listening to Solaris. So thanks, I'm putting The Mysterious Planet on my TBR

  47. I'm like you in that I buy most in kindle so don't add a lot in my physical library... I think I'd like to add a few of my new favourites though. Most of my book shelves are pre-kindle favourites now mixed with impulse buys!
