Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week's topic is Top Ten Resolutions We Have for 2015.

I don't really do resolutions so this week I'm doing something different- I'm going to spotlight 10 things I'm looking forward to doing this year. These might be bookish and some non bookish, but they're all things I'm looking forward to this year.

1) Catching up on favorite shows.

2) Reading all the books I'm looking forward to.

3) Getting back to the Renaissance Festival this year. I didn't make it there last year and it will be nice to see old friends again.

4) Captain America Civil War.

5) Reading The Winds of Winter. Cause, um, it's gonna come out in 2016? Riiighhttt????

6) Read more from the authors I discovered in 2015. Liane Moriarty in particular, as well as Lucy Clarke and Julie Mulhern.

7) A new blog design.

8) Read more fantasy. I read more mysteries and even a few contemporaries in 2015, but fantasy is my favorite genre.

  1. I was thinking about participating in The 100 rewatch you posted about! I think this year I might blog a bit more about television. :) I am really into British shows right now. We just watched And Then There Were None, and the Great British Bake Off. I am bummed I can't watch the other seasons of that one yet!

I am looking forward to the Ren Fest too ~ I think we will take the boy and I am excited to see how he will react. I may even dress him up for the Highland Fling weekend or Shamrocks and Shenanigans. Lol.

I have been curious about Zoo. I always cry when animals die on television, so I am not sure if I should watch it?

    1. I thought about that too, but I just watched The 100 recently so it's still fresh in my mind. Plus there's the time factor. I did see some Twitter tweets on it though and it looked fun. :) I like blogging about shows and movies so I think I'm going to do that too. I hope you do!

I saw some promo artwork for And Then There Were None and it looked really good!

I love the Ren fair. Such a great way to spend the day. I like that it's a big one too- smaller ones are fun but I like the energy of the big ones.

Zoo is surprisingly good! I tried it but expected it to be stupid, and while the premise is a bit silly the characters are good and the writing is surprisingly not bad. I actually like the show a lot!

  2. I want to catch up on shows as well. My Tivo is packed and I haven't even gotten to the Doctor Who or Christmas specials! Maddening! I do want to read more fantasy this year and just more books in general that are a bit outside my normal reading. Would you believe I've never been to a Renaissance Festival? They sound so fun!

    1. Ren fairs are fun, everyone is different and they're a nice way to spend a day (as long as it's not raining LOL). I enjoy going and immersing myself in that world for the day. Plus, pubs! :)

I used to read a lot of fantasy, and still do, but I've slacked off a bit. Part of it was not finding stuff that appealed, but I also branched out into contemps and mysteries more last year, and that was nice too.

  3. I want to read almost all of those books you mentioned! Some look interesting, I'll have to check them out. Also, I love the Renaissance fair. My husband and I go almost every year! Good luck on all your resolutions!

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday!

    1. I enjoy the Renaissance fair, sometimes it's the same merchants so that can get old but I just love the atmosphere of the place!

  4. I don't normally do resolutions either but this week I figured that I did have some goals for the year so I just went with it heh! I would LOVE to attend a renaissance fair but in my neck of the woods, nothing fun like that ever happens >.< YES to Bourne 5 and Suicide Squad! Eeeep so many amazing books and movies coming out this year :D And naturally, I'm all for reading more fantasy - it's my go-to after all (big surprise here - NOT. LOL!) Into the Dim sounds AMAZING! Good luck with all of the things you're looking forward to! I hope they all deliver :)

    1. I hope you get to go to a Ren fair, they are so fun. Especially if you dress up. It kinda gets you in the spirit of the thing. :)

Bourne 5 is probably my top awaited movie, I love those. I'm probably as excited for it as I was Star Wars!

  5. I think this is a nice twist to this week's topic, Greg. I like the idea of catching up on favorite shows. And yes to reading all the books you are looking forward too! I think that's an ongoing goal that never ends. ;-) I can't wait to see the new Captain America movie.

I have always wanted to go to a Renaissance Festival. There is one held not too far away too, so it wouldn't be a hardship to go. I just need to make the time.

    1. Thank you! I hope you get a chance to go to a Ren fair- they're all different, each one unique, and the bigger ones have a fun energy.

  6. I love your post! I'm looking forward to a lot of these things as well, especially THE 100 and DARK MATTER where tv are concerned. I can't tell you how worried I was when the fate of DARK MATTER was hanging in the balance. I did a serious happy dance when I found out it was coming back. Oh, that show! Everyone needs to watch it.

I have read more Sci Fi on my list but really I need to tackle quite a lot of fantasy as well. I have some series to start and some to catch up on... all to tide me over until WINDS OF WINTER finally comes out.

    1. Thank you! I love Dark Matter and totally agree- if they wouldn't have renewed it I would have been seriously unhappy. It might be my favorite show right now. And that cliffhanger... gah! Love the characters.

The 100 too. S2 was so awesome.

Winds of Winter... such a long wait. But once it comes out it should be so good! I hope soon...

  7. There's a Bourne 5! What??? How did I not know this. I love the Bourne films!! I really want to read George R R Martin. I just started watching Game of Thrones and I loved it.

    1. Yes- is that awesome or what? I need more Bourne! LOL. A few months away... :)

Game of Thrones (the show) I didn't really like at first, but as each season goes it gets better (more budget, better acting) at least IMO. I've always liked the books, and think they're superior (more character nuance), but the show is pretty good even as it deviates from the books a bit. I don't like everything they do but they have their moments. :)

  8. These all sound like fun things to look forward to! I don't watch a lot of TV (because no reception and we gave up cable except for internet) but I'm definitely looking forward to the return of Agent Carter. I'd love to go to a Ren Faire; it's been ages since I did. But I think you're out of luck on the new GRRM; he has already announced it probably won't be this year. (For me, it's the next Kovthe novel from Patrick Rothfuss. Oh, well, I'm willing to wait as long as the book is as good as his first two!)

  9. Love what you did with your list! I need to catch up on shows too. Bloodlines has been in my list forever. And Daredevil. I also want to read more books from authors I discovered last year. Great list and good luck!!

    1. Thank you! Bloodline is good but it's kinda slow- it's more of a character study so we get a lot of glimpses into these people and their lives. It didn't bother me but some people thought it was slow. I think it's good though.

And yes Netflix is killing it with the Marvel stuff. Did you watch Jessica Jones? Luke Cage (from JJ) is next getting his own series- can't wait! I hope they all guest star in each others shows. :)

  10. Getting caught up on shows is a goal of ours as well. Looking forward to Bourne 5! A new blog design is always fun.

  11. Bourne 5? Movie? They bring Damon back?

I am so out of the loop on these things (books, tv, movies...)

I love your resolutions, but they're definitely going to be keeping you busy! I wish you the best on these and look forward to seeing how (and what) you do this new year.

  12. These are great! I'm looking forward to catching-up on some of my favorite tv shows this year as well. And I love Renaissance Festivals! We used to have a really good one near where I lived in Minnesota. I need to figure out where the closest one is to Chicago and try to go this year.

Good luck on updating your blog design!

    1. I've heard the Minnesota festival is a big one, like Michigan's ( think they're owned by the same company?) and if I remember right, there's one by Chicago called Bristol I think that runs in the late summer?

  13. Nice list! I didn't realize there was another Bourne movie. I believe I've only watched the first two. I am looking forward to Captain America Civil War though I haven't watched the trailer yet. I'm even more excited for season 2 of Agent Carter which starts later this month.

  15. I love the Renaissance Festival, it's just so much fun! I wish they had something like it for other time periods as well. I also need to catch up on some shows, Zoo looks good! Thanks for stopping by my post!

    1. I enjoy them too, and it would be neat to have other time periods too, I agree. I really liked Zoo, which surprised me- I didn't think it would be that good, but it actually was.

  16. Captain America Civil war and Bourne 5 are on my list as well, well not on my TTT list, but on my to do list for 2016! Even though i am so unsure about Civil war, loving both stark and rogers and i am complete on the "mom and dad are fighting!" side of the entire thing and feel extremely nervous about the entire thing. And i did not mean to ramble about it here.
    Sorry.
Anyways... great list, i hope you get to it all :)

  17. Those all sounds like great things to look forward to. I have some books I am really looking forward to. I don't watch many tv shows or movies, but I am looking forward to the next star wars rebels season and hopefully I can finally see the new star wars movie as well this year.
And that's exciting you'll be getting a new blog desing, looking forward to see what your new design will look like!

  18. A new blog design? Ooo, do tell!

Nice list and it seems doable. I watched Zoo on NetFlix, looking forward to the next season. Maybe it'll be on Hulu.

  19. You had me at The 100 :) Seriously, I am SOOOOO excited for it to be back- how have we suffered through TEN full months!? I wish I could do a rewatch but I sadly don't have the time. And I love the idea of a new design for a new year- I am sure I will be itching for something new soon enough! Good luck on all your goals, and I hope you have a wonderful 2016!
