I hope everyone's New Year is off to a good start. I had a good week, got a little reading in and things have calmed down with the holidays over. I love the wide open nature of a new year- the whole year is sort of spread before us and it feels like anything is possible. Will it be a good year? Who knows- but the potential is there. New books to read, new worlds to discover- and perhaps to create, if you write. I hope everyone's writing goes well this year.
Last week I discussed the new Star Wars movie (first discussion post of the year- it's not too late to come share your thoughts) and also reviewed Desperately Seeking Susan, a way fun movie. And of course Top Ten Tuesday which has become a regular for me.
This coming week I'm going to post my favorite movies and shows of 2015, as well as my thoughts on the new show Zoo and a film review of Escape from New York. My A Dance with Dragons re- read this week focuses on Melisandre- curious about the red witch? This chapter answers some questions even as it asks new ones. And my Bookcover Spotlight this week will be a Nancy Drew selection.
Books of Amber, Lady Knight Reads and The Overstuffed Bookcase are hosting a rewatch of The 100. The event is already underway and runs until Jan. 21- which is when S3 premieres. They're watching about 3 episodes a week plus a livewatch on Twitter. The 100 is available on Netflix and you can go here for all the info.
That time travel show looks AWESOME. (Plus isn't that the dude out of Prison Break?! I loved that show). XD Happy new year to you too!! I love the possibilities of starting a new year and how fresh and ready for action everything feels. Hopefully that feel will stick with me throughout the months. ;DReplyDelete
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
I think so too! And yes same guy. :) Agree- hope the new year feeling lasts, and it's a good year for all of us. :)Delete
Eeeep - I can't wait for Legends of Tomorrow :D It's a really solid combination of characters from Arrow and Flash and I can't wait to see how it all ties in together!! Oh and I'm looking forward to your post on your favourite movies and television shows of 2015!!ReplyDelete
Me too, I think that show will rock. I hope you like my post- it will be up on Tuesday. I had a lot of fun picking through all the shows... :)Delete
Wow. That Lego Ewok village looks fantastic and expensive! Glad you had a good week Greg!ReplyDelete
Doesn't it? I think it's really cool. Take care and have a good week!Delete
I'm extremely impressed with that Ewok village! I love lego and work very close to one of their stores. I'm always tempted to get one of their giant sets to build something.ReplyDelete
I'm looking forward to seeing your post on your favorite movies and tv from 2015!
And thanks for sharing a link to my review of "Attachments"!
Lindsey Stirling is awesome! I bought her album for a friend after seeing Roundtable Rival on YouTube, because I know she used to play the violin and for some reason automatically got the mp3 files from amazon, so I listened to it and ended up loving it. I don't watch her videos as much, but when I do I'm always impressed by the cinematography and costumes. Looking forward to The 100 returning and I hope you have a great year! :)ReplyDelete
I love Roundtable Rival is how I learned about her, had never heard of her before that, but a blogger posted the vid and I was like, cool.Delete
I'm looking forward to the 100 also. Am tempted to do that 100 rewatch. :)
The Ewok Lego village looks like such fun. I look forward your post on your favorite movies and shows of 2015. I hope you have a great week, Greg! We are enjoying a quiet Sunday at our house this weekend. I am hoping for more rain, but we'll see.ReplyDelete
Quiet is good! That Ewok village is kinda cool, isn't it? :)Delete
Have a great week.
Oh, Lindsey Stirling! That Skyrim piece of hers was one of the first I ever saw of hers and now I'm a firm fan. I hadn't heard The Last of the Giants before, but ooh, it is an atmospheric song. I'll have to remember that one when I'm looking for fantasy inspiration actually. It brings up such interesting pictures in my head. Thanks for sharing it!ReplyDelete
I'm pretty new to Lindsey Stirling but definitely a fan now. I like how she does the different fantasy songs, she must be a fan too!Delete
I thought Last of the Giants was very atmospheric too, and with that video and all the snowscapes it really adds to the impact. Glad you liked it!
A few shows I haven't heard of there, but I can relate to a few. I've enjoyed The 100 but both seasons I've seen have finished in a way that have made me think the next season will be tedious. (S2 wasn't so I'm hoping S3 isn't as well!)ReplyDelete
I couldn't get into Zoo but must admit I only watched the one episode. It wasn't very popular here in Australia and after a lot of promotion it was moved to very very late at night after only a few weeks.
The 100 I enjoyed but S2 was much better for me than S1. Zoo I was super skeptical about but tried it one night for a lark, and surprisingly I liked it, but I had to get a few episodes in to be sure. the first one is iffy because the premise is so silly, frankly.Delete
What a fun review of Desperately Seeking Susan...I loved the movie, and my daughter was a big Madonna fan back then.ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Thank you! I enjoyed writing (and sampling the movie again for research purposes LOL). Such a fun movie.Delete
That Ewok village is awesome! I love how detailed Legos are on those kinds of things. I'm looking forward to seeing what your top shows/movies for 2015 were - especially the movies. I have tons of TV shows I watch but have just really started watching movies again and am always looking for recommendations. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
I'm having fun with my Top Movie/ Shows post but having trouble narrowing it down. :) It's funny how many shows I've picked up this year...Delete
Isnt that Ewok village something? Amazing... I too am always floored by how detailed they get.
I love time travel Greg. I am curious about your favorite shows/movies of 2015. My son loved legos, and I bet he would love building the Ewok village. Stay warm, enjoy the snow and happy reading!!ReplyDelete
Ah yes, a brand spanking new year to come. Haha yes, Legends o Tomorrow looks so good.ReplyDelete
Hope yours is off to a good start! :)Delete
The beginning of this post is so inspiring! There is something so refreshing about the new year. Even if it doesn't HAVE to be a new year to start new things, it just feels more possible and motivational somehow. And Lindsey Stirling is ridiculously talented!ReplyDelete
Thank you! I love the feel of a new year and the feeling that anything is possible. It just feels wide open...Delete
I think as bloggers too there's an added dimension of where we want the blog to go, what we want to write about. It's such a creative endeavour...
I feel exactly the same about New Years, they feel exciting to me and a chance to start with a clean slate. Love them and its refreshing to see you think the same as most people I know dread them!ReplyDelete
Ohhh and Legends of Tomorrow looks very promising!
Yes, exactly! There's just a sense of potential... a clean slate, i like how you put that. And it's early enough in the year that the year isn't all screwed up yet- ha ha! Hope you have great Sunday!Delete
Legends of Tomorrow looks good! Looking forward to your favorite shows and movies of 2015. I'm reading the 5th Wave now and with the movie being released the 22nd and you being such a big sci-fi fan I was wondering if you had posted a review. I ran a search but it didn't come up. Have you read it?ReplyDelete
I have not read it, but the trailer looks good. After seeing it I thought I definitely want to see this movie. Are you liking the book?Delete
OMG!!!! LOVED IT!!!! I posted the review today. I think you'd really like itDelete
Loved The Last of the Giants clip and Lindsay Stirling rocks, I bought her Shatter Me album ... amazing!! Looking forward to your favourite shows post. Have a super week, enjoy your reading and viewing :)ReplyDelete
I liked that song too- and Lindsey Stirling, is she awesome or what? Hope your weekend is a great one!Delete
I'm not caught up on Star Wars yet, so I didn't read your discussion post. I hope that I'll be able to catch up rather soon, so I can discuss, too.ReplyDelete
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Yes don't read it, it's a bit spoilery. :) Hope you like the movie when you see it!Delete
Hope you have a great week! I love Lindsay Stirling she is awesome. :)ReplyDelete
That Ewok Village is amazing. I could look at it and look at it! My blog is starting out slow this year. Enjoying a lot more time for reading and binging on Netflix while waiting for some of my favorite shows to return. Have a wonderful Sunday.ReplyDelete
My Sunday Post - http://fuonlyknew.com/2016/01/10/whats-new-on-my-bookshelf-142-and-the-sunday-post/
Same here. Netflix takes a lot of my time. :)Delete
I just put away a 32gal container of legos I bet I can make a ewok village with that lol.ReplyDelete
I love Lindsey Stirling, you need to check out Tyler Davis (I believe that is her name) she does all types of gaming music and a complete Legends of Zelda soundtrack. It's amazing. I listen to both of them at work when I design because it's relaxing. Lindsey also does a really cute Pokemon video.
I want to do the Top Ten but since I have my own meme on Tuesday I don't want it to get lost that day. I am still trying to see if I can fit it in.
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
32 gal? Dang... Tyler Davis, I will check her out. Thanks for letting me know! Sounds like my kind of music. :)Delete
Can't wait to see what your favorite shows and movies of last year were!! That Lego Ewok village is pretty legit. Have a great week!!ReplyDelete
I hope you like it... it's a long post. :) Well not too long, but you know... I gotta include clips! You have a fantastic week too!Delete
As a fan of Arrow and The Flash I am looking forward with cautious optimism to Legends of Tomorrow. I just hope the two original shows don't diminish in quality!ReplyDelete
I like the idea of January being a new beginning. This time of year is hard for me as winter settles in but February is my most difficult month and the one I wish I could hibernate through. I love spring and summer so winter is a long slog. I growl at people who get excited about the snow :)
I can't remember if I visited your Top Ten post or your Star Wars post so I'll have to check those out. I also look forward to your list of top movies. Have a great week!
Me too, I'm looking forward to Legends. I don't know all the characters but I'm getting there as I slowly catch up on Arrow and Flash.Delete
I am not a fan of February either, it's a very bleak month here and always cold. I could do without it. I am looking forward to spring and the growing things. :)
Have a great week Christina!!
The Lego Ewok village is cute! I wonder if we'll see Ewoks in either of the next movies? Looking forward to your fave movies and TV shows of 2015, should be fun.ReplyDelete
I also like the idea of a whole new year, new possibilities. The year is young, with lots of potential.
I don't imagine we'll see Ewoks, but you never know! I did kinda like Endor. Hope you like my tuesday post- it's been fun to put together. :)Delete
Agree about potential, I love this feeling at the new year where everything is wide open. Now if only we can get to spring LOL... I love this tie of year minus the snow and ice!
I'll have to take a look at your thoughts about the new Star Wars movie. Thanks!ReplyDelete
Thanks Deb, hope you have a great weekend- and week ahead.Delete
Ah, thanks for featuring my review! I never got a chance to get on this week to check out your discussion so I will be going now! Also, I love Lindsey Stirling! Her videos are so fun to watch as well.ReplyDelete
Have a great week!
Here is my The Sunday Post!
You're welcome. I love the videos of Stirling I've seen so far- Roundtable Rival was awesome and then I discovered these. She seems to like to make fun videos of popular properties. I hope she makes more! And I need to get some of her music...Delete
Legends of Tomorrow looks really good! I can't wait for The 100 to start up again.ReplyDelete
Hope you have a great week!
My new year is starting off ok. Didn't win the Powerball, but then again, no one did. LOL Wow, that Lego Ewok village is just...people amaze me! And Escape from New York! I haven't seen that in ages! Great movie!ReplyDelete
I like the possibility of a new year and that feeling of everything is possible. My year started off pretty good and that makes me feel optimistic about the rest of the year.ReplyDelete
I haven't watched the new star wars movie yet, so I can't read your post yet. I'll try to remember to step by once I have watched the movie.
That lego ewok village is so cool! Have a great week!
I had totally forgotten about Desperately Seeking Susan. I will have to watch it next time I come across it. Yes the New Year always seems so shiny. I am hoping yo do more "me" reading this year which will include rereads of some of my faves. Happy New Year, and have a wonderful week. :)ReplyDelete
I love the way a New Year feel. It does make me feel like the possibilities are endless.ReplyDelete
I have never seen the show The 100. I will probably binge watch it at some point. Have a great week!
I'm excited for Legends of Tomorrow. It looks really good. The new season of The 100 also looks great. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
I can't wait to see Legends of Tomorrow. I have a reminder on my phone calendar so I don't forget lol. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
My daughter and I liked Zoo. My husband gave up on it after two episodes, and we thought it got better. I am looking forward to the new show Colony, debuting soon. Have a great week.ReplyDelete
Yes a lovely New Year and we really don't know what it brings but to have it is opportunity to live and enjoy. I am seriously lacking in TV or movies! Sheree was talking about a Viking show and I am thinking how did I not know about it! Must check out Zoo!ReplyDelete
I have never seen a Star Wars movie it just one of those ones that never interested me. I still have not a Zoo episode either, read the book and thought that was very good. You can see mine here: http://theresaraymer.blogspot.com/ReplyDelete
Gosh I haven't seen Desperately Seeking Susan in eons, but I remember Madoona starred in itReplyDelete
Have a great reading week,
Shelleyrae @ Book'd Out
I love the Lindsey Stirling Skyrim stuff! I used to be such a huge gamer, and loved The Elder Scrolls. Lol.ReplyDelete
I agree, the New Year means new possibilities. It is always exciting to have that blank slate, that do-over in front of us. :)
I loved the new Star Wars! I will have to pop over to that post!
Here's to the start of another year. I hope it is a good one for you. Looking forward to checking out your Favourite move/tv shows of 2015 on tuesday.ReplyDelete
Have a great week.
I love Lindsey Stirling, especially her geeky stuff. It's so early in the year that you truly have no idea what it'll hold. It's been a rough one for me so far, but with 11 more months I'm optimistic it'll get better. I hope you have an awesome week!ReplyDelete
Nancy Drew, Star Wars, Escape from New York and Zelda all in one post, you are awesome!!!! Will be back to see Nancy!!! I haven't heard of Lindsey Stirling but I adore Link and his adventures so will check her out!ReplyDelete
Have a good week!
Love the LEGO!! Will check your movie/tv post for sure. Am looking for some new shows.ReplyDelete
My year has started busy and a little chaotic. But I hope it will slow down some this week.ReplyDelete
I must admit I have never seen Games of Thrones. I've wanted to many times but haven't gotten to it yet. Maybe this year! ;)
Have a great week!
I hope your reading week is a good one.ReplyDelete
Stay warm if you are in the frigid zone this week. :)
