My 200th Sunday Post. Wow. I've been doing this one for a while now and I love how it's a community within the community, you know? I've made a lot of friends because of this meme and would like to give a big shout out to Kimba who makes this happen every week. My version of this has morphed a lot over the last couple years and sometimes I get a bit carried away with the extras, but I love sharing 'em and if people are clicking over to Artstation or a website and discovering some cool art... well, that's the point.
So this week it's been milder, mostly 70's- no 90's thankfully- and I did a ton of reading. I'm on such a roll with good books- other than the occasional dud everything's been pretty good. I've been steering back towards fantasy/ SF since reading so many psychological thrillers lately- and my upcoming books are a nice mix. I've been watching The White Princess (kinda bored) and Shetland (awesome) and I watched S4 of Black Sails also.
I reviewed Brave New Girl and talked about Jon Snow this past week in my discussion post. I'll have a review up this week for Dangerous Girls and Ivory and Bone is coming up too. And... on Monday I'll have another flash fiction. On The Run part II - you can find the first one right here.
Song of the week

Happy 200th Sunday Post!! That weather sounds good! It was humid here and then we got the rain ugh. Yay for good books. Can't wait to see your thoughts on Dangerous Girls. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We had pretty good weather this week- amazingly it wasn't too hot!
DeleteI am planning to watch The White Princess at some point but who knows when that will be! I've had a great reading week and I hope to be reading a lot up to the end of the month. The Sacred Flames picture reminds me a little of Castle Black.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it. I thought it had potential but by episode five I was kinda not really with it anymore. And yes that would be a very cool version of Castl Black wouldn't it??
DeleteWow! Happy 200! :) That's awesome. And yes - it's always great to catch up with the Sunday Post regulars that I normally chat to. Unfortunately from my side I have limited time so I haven't yet managed to get around to everyone but one day I'll be able to blog hop to everyone! I know EVERY blog that I've ever been to you have been there! Do you visit EVERYONE?
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit behind this week still catching up from having been away but I can't wait to get back to the posts of yours that I have missed, particularly Jon Snow discussions!
P.S. I'm a huge fan of the artwork you post - don't ever stop!
Thanks Di! I agree the SP is one of my favorite parts of the week. And no I don't visit everyone although sometimes I wonder! lol I usually hit the same one more or less, people I know, maybe half or more? And I do try to visit newbies if I see em, to welcome em.
DeleteI hope you like the Jon Snow discussion!
Happy 200th Sunday post :) I love the artwork you keep posting, but I said so in the past! And I love the sound of Brave New Girl!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you like the artwork... :)
DeleteWhite princess WAS boring, very meh
ReplyDeleteWhat is Shetland?
It was. Sadly. Shetland is a cop show set on the Shetland islands in scotland. I'm liking it a lot!
DeleteWow, your 200th Sunday Post?! That's awesome, Greg! I'll have to check out your review for Dangerous Girls. I didn't round on the blogs much this week because real life has kept me way too busy! *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI know, hard to believe? Like have I really been doing this that long lol? But thanks! Dangerous Girls was really good, my review will be up on Thursday. And I hope this week is a little less busy for you! :)
DeleteHappy 200th post. I was expecting more from White Princess considering how much I enjoyed the books it was aken from
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristina! And I liked the White Princess at first, thought it had potential, but my episode 5 I was kinda flagging out. It just seemed to lack something...
DeleteWowww 200 posts?! That's incredible! Yay for more flash fiction too! A lot of people have said White Princess is meh, so that sucks. I'm curious about your thoughts on Dangerous Girls and Ivory and Bone- I was kind of underwhelmed by I&B, I hope you had better luck with it!
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I can't even believe it at all. And yes- I am having a BLAST writing the flash fiction. Thank you for reading it!! I watched 5 episodes of White Princess and it just got more and more boring, so yeah- I've given up.
DeleteI know what you mean about Ivory and Bone- I liked it but it wasn't stellar. It was weird how they were Ice Age people but used words like kitchen and pants. Am I the only one who found that weird?? Dangerous Girls though was awesome.
Hey, congrats on #200! I like hitting milestones like that. #250 is somewhat around the corner for me. Time just flies by, honestly!
ReplyDeleteHow did you feel about Ivory and Bone? I didn't love it so I didn't follow up with the sequel. :/ Oh well!
Have a wonderful weekend, Greg. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Thank you! You're closing in on 250- wow.
DeleteIvory and Bone was okay, i liked it but it wasn't excellent. I just read the second one and liked it maybe a bit more, since it involved an unexplored island and I liked that- but they're strictly 3 star reads for me.Nothing mindblowing.
Wow, congratulations, Greg. Yep, cannot agree more with you, the Sunday Post really is a community within a community. I've met lots of new friends because of it, including you. Anyway, enjoy your books and have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeletePS: I love the pictures and videos. Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks, and yes the Sunday Post is awesome. And likewise, glad I discovered your blog as well. :)
DeleteGlad you like the pics and videos. Thanks for always coming by!
Wahoo! Congrats on your 200th Sunday Post and thanks for the shout out. I love this meme, and all the bloggers who've joined it. So many wonderful bookish friends :) Yeah for Orphan Black. I am going to be sad when the series ends. Stay cool and enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimba! This meme has been awesome. :)
DeleteI am totally gonna miss Orphan Black. I'm liking season 5 a lot so far...
Wow! Congrats of 200 Sunday Posts! Here's to many more. :) Have a good week, and enjoy your reads! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Same to you... :)
DeleteHappy 200th Post - a real achievement - have they all been consecutive or have their been gaps? I agree with you on the community - this meme is my favourite! Here's to another 200!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And I think there have been gaps- I don't know offhand how many but I'm sure it's not consecutive. Makes me curious though... I'll have to go back through the archives and look.
DeleteAnd yes this is probably my favorite meme- I've stuck with it because of the community.
Oh wow, 200 is huge, congrats! Here's to many more! Orphan Black is yet another series I'm missing out, but there's not enough time LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Oh I hope you get a chance to Orphan Black sometime... season 5 is on now (final season) and it's sooo good so far.
DeleteHuge congratulations on your 200th Sunday Post - that is a great achievement. In addition, you seem to be on a roll with your reading - I love the look of Brave New Girl and All Systems Red. Have a great week, Greg. My Sunday Post - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/06/25/sunday-post-25th-june-2017/
ReplyDeleteThank you- and I have been on a roll. Knocks on wood. Brave new Girl was good but I REALLY liked All Systems Red.
DeleteWow 200 Sunday Posts, that's great! Enjoy your books this week.
ReplyDeleteHey Cindy- thanks!
Delete200! You are so right, it is a community within a community. We had a cooler day yesterday and today feels great so far, too. Thanks for the music and art, and I am excited for some more On the Run! Have a fabulous week. :)
ReplyDeleteOn The Run should be up in just a few hours... and thank you. The community is great- and thank YOU again for spotlighting me.
Delete200! That's really wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
Delete200 Sunday Posts is phenomenal!!! I need to watch Shetland, it does look really good. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteShetland is good, and as someone from Scotland I'd be curious to see if you think it's authentically done. And thanks!
DeleteHappy 200th Sunday!! That's dedication. We've had cooler weather here to, lots of rain. I think it's going to be a wet summer. Love the artwork, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm at http://geekymomsrr.blogspot.com/2017/06/weekly-wrap-up.html this week.
Thank you! It's been cooler here too- I can live with it!
DeleteGlad you are enjoying your reading. It's nice to read a variety of genres and change it up once in awhile. I haven't read as much fantasy or science fiction this year. It's mostly been historical or contemporary fiction. Right now I am reading a historical mystery which is one of my favorite genres.
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to get milder weather this coming week. I think tomorrow it may only be in the 60s! I like temperatures in the 80s so hopefully we'll get there before too long.
Hope you have a wonderful week!
I agre- the changing of genres has really kept my reading fresh over the last year or so. It's funny too when I look back at what I was reading when I started vs now- quite the change!
DeleteI like historical fiction too, but have read less lately? This year has been some YA and lots of thrilers, and now I seem to be in SF mode.
Our weather is back and forth between 70's and 90's with rain in between. :) I am enjoying Shetland but I figured I would as I love crime shows. :) I made a list of all the shows on netflix that I would like to watch and OMG it was longer than I thought...lol.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your reads!
Stormi
Week in Review
Wacky weather! Glad you're liking shetland- I am too. And yeah the Netflix queue is crazy!!
DeleteI'm usually into lighter reads this time of year but not happening. I'm still into some horror and thrillers. Probably need to check my stacks for a beach read or two. Also watching Shetland and enjoying it and waiting for the new season of Preacher tonight! Enjoy those books and the cooler weather, Greg:)
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I've been doing all thrillers but now I'm in scifi mode I guess. No beach reads yet for me I guess! Shetland is pretty good isn't its?
Delete200 Sunday posts?? That's crazy! And by that's crazy, I mean congratulations ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks! And i know- it IS kinda crazy!!!
DeletePhilly was getting close to the 90 degrees weather before I left, and omg it made me so cranky. I'm not a heat person at all. I'm glad I'm back below the equator for the summer, where it's cooler!
ReplyDeleteI watched the first episode of White Princess, and it didn't really catch my attention. If it's boring, I probably won't try it.
Hope you enjoy your books! :)
Yeah that kind of heat doesn't work for me either. Glad you're home and cooling off. :)
DeleteI stuck with White Princess through ep 5 but finally gave up. Not enough happening...
This weather has been the best. It can stay like this all summer in my opinion. Lol.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 200th post! What a milestone!!
Shetland looks really good. We added it to our TBW list, along with Luther. Have a great week!
I know- it's been great? And thank you.
DeleteI like Shetland, it's a tad slow moving but I love the ambience and the scenery.
Happy 200th Sunday Post, Greg! This is definitely a great feature, and a good way to find new blogger friends :)
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed Megan Miranda books in the past, and Hysteria is one of them;) I hope you'll enjoy it as well.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Thanks Lexxie, and I agree! So many bloggers I follow I think I found through this!
DeleteI can't wait to read Hysteria, it looks so good.
Happy 200!!! I am glad I found your blog! It enjoy chatting with you! :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather here is stupid. It's hot and muggy and breezy and someone cool and hot and ext. It's getting on my nerves! lol :)
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
Thank you! And same- so glad I found your blog. Sorry your weather sucks- you know I hate muggines too and would be happy with low mid 70's all summer long lol
DeleteCongrats on reaching 200 Sunday Posts! That's amazing and I totally agree on the community within a community! I love this weekly meme, even if I miss a week or two sometimes.
ReplyDelete70's sounds like heaven! I'd be outside all day! It's just been so humid here that I'm hiding away inside as much as possible.
I hope you have a wonderful week and read some awesome books! :)
Thanks! It's a great community. And I guess I should be happy with our weather- actually I am, because I know for you guys it's probably crazy hot! I'd inside all the time!!
DeleteWow! You've been doing this for ages now huh? Congratulations! It's absolutely awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI guess so!!!
DeleteHappy 200th Sunday Post! This is definitely a fantastic community and one that makes me really happy to be part of. The temps aren't too bad here but the humidity is deadly. I was outside for about 5 minutes and I felt like I needed to take a shower and get a change of clothes! I love all your extras and that Charlie Chaplin cove is amazing! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And I'll bet the humidity is bad down there.
DeleteI love that Charlie Chaplin cover, with the portholes and him partially in shadow. I was gonna retire Pulp Cover of the Week but I've been finding some good ones, so it stays. :)
Congrats on your 200th Sunday Post. These weekend events are my favorites, too.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky to be heading toward 70s....and I'm glad you are enjoying your books.
I'm curious about Dangerous Girls. The art work is fabulous, as usual.
Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Thank you! I am lucky I suppose w/ the 70's= I hope it keeps up.
DeleteDangerous Girls was quite good, more of a courtroom story than I thought, but good.
Dangerous Girls looks interesting - that cover. Have a good reading week!
ReplyDeleteI liked dangerous girls a lot!
DeleteWow.. 200 Sunday Posts!! That's amazing. I love visiting you on Sunday. It's so fun to see the art you put here every week. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteHow great that you've been having such a good reading week. My reading is going well too, but they are mostly 3 star reads which is too bad really. I hope I find a 5 star read again soon.
Have a great week and happy reading!
I know- hard to believe. And thank you- I appreciate your visiting! :)
DeleteA lot of my reads have been 3 stars too, occasionally a 4. Haven't had a lot of 5's lately...
Your 200th post? Congrats! That is a major milestone. I never actually keep track of my posts numbers and I really probably should. Glad you're enjoying your reading and moving into some other genres again. I've actually got Ivory and Bone on my shelf so I'll be interested to see your thoughts on that one.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week.
I knwo- crazy right? Thank you! Ivory and Bone was pretty good, I liked it but didn't love it- I think it's a solid 3 star read. One thing I thought was funny was it's an Ice Age type story (I guess) but they talk very modern. Other than that the sense of place was pretty good.
DeleteGoodness, 200 Sunday posts! Good on you, Greg. I wish I could be half as consistent as you are, haha. I'm quite intrigued by Dangerous Girls (it sort of looks like Beauty Queens by Libba Bray, which I loved) so I'm eager to hear your take on it soon!
ReplyDeleteI know- how did I ever reach two hundred lol And Dangerous Girls was awesome
DeleteCongrats on reaching 200 posts for Sunday Post!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
Congratulations on your 200th Sunday, thats nearly 4 years worth of Sundays.
ReplyDeleteEngrossed in a good book
Thanks! And when you put it like that... :)
DeleteHappy 200th! I love this community too. It's great away to meet other bloggers. I bought Ivory and Bone when it was on sale so I can't wait to see your review. I need to make time for Netflix and Hulu, I have so many shows I want to watch. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have met so many bloggers through this- can't imagine not doing it every week. Ivory and Bone was pretty good, I'd rate it a solid 3 star. Good, not mindblowing.
DeleteI have so many shows too, although I've knocked a few out. Shetland is ongoing...
Happy 200the Sunday Post! 70s? Ha, that's cold for me :-P awesome android art this week!
ReplyDeleteThanx! And it DID feel cold a bit this week- the last two days the breeze coming in the window has been chilly! Weird for Jun...
DeleteHey Congrats on 200th post! Have a great week, and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteJo-Ann
Inspiration Pie
Thanks!
DeleteCongrats on 200 Sunday Posts! :D I had really hopes when I watched The White Queen a couple of years ago because I love anything to do with the Wars of the Roses, but it was very underwhelming. Totally skipped The White Princess because of it. :/
ReplyDeleteThanks! I found the White Princess kinda boring, I stuck with it for 5 episodes but then I gave up...
DeleteMy reading this week was mostly cozy mysteries and comic books. It's been a busy week with a cracked toilet, day camp, and paperwork for cross country. Come see what I'm reading
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 200!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fantastic week!
Brave New Girl sounds interesting- and congratulations on 200!
ReplyDeleteWow 200 adds up to just about 4 years which is great going. Memes such as these sure help to put us all in contact, and er... add to our growing piles of books to read!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading to you and have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great week. I finally started watching Riverdale and made it through the first 7 this weekend. I am really enjoying it and can see what you raved about it. I basically skimmed some of your posts because I didn't want to spoil anything but now I'll be back going back and reading them more in-depth. Our temps are finally more seasonable this week which will be a good thing. Awesome artwork finds as well.
ReplyDelete200 posts! Wow! Congrats! I hope you enjoy all of your books. Dangerous Girls sounds interesting to me. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYay for 200 and the Sunday Post. I am so glad we have become friends. I just realized you live in Michigan and I am in Iowa so we have similar weather. It has been in the mid 70's lately here. I hope it stays that way. Upper 90's is miserable!
ReplyDeleteI love all the extras!! All Systems Red has a great cover - I'm going to have to check that one out. I don't read a ton of sci-fi, but it's a genre I'd like to read more of.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 200!
Happy My 200th Sunday Post Anniversary! And yes thank you Kim! I love that you get away with the extras :0 I feel I’m reading a sci-fi magazine or illustrated book :) and hope you keep doing this for many more years to come :)
ReplyDeleteI think I've posted that many posts for Mailbox Monday, but I'm glad to be a part of Sunday Post too. Kimba is great. She really is all about sharing and community building and she has a knack of making each blogger feel special.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 200th Sunday Post, Greg! That's awesome. And I love that you make it your own. It makes it more interesting, and more personal, when we put our own spin on it. I'm so envious of your weather!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 200 Sunday posts. I had forgotten about Ivory and Bone, it was on my list. Must dig it out!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I stop by, I'm always reminded about how I really want to get back into TV Show watching. I just don't have time!!! Lauren @ Obsessive Book Nerd.
ReplyDeleteCongats on the 200th post. I enjoy what you share every week, keep it up. Not liking this cooler weather, hopefully the 70s will show up this week. Glad your reads have been great.
ReplyDeleteWow, congrats on the blogging milestone - I definitely look forward to all the goodies you share every week!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the 200th Sunday Post. Many many more to come.
ReplyDeleteWow! 200 Sunday Posts! That's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI haven't grabbed Brave New Girl as yet, I'm keen to see what you think.
It's such a great moment when you hit a number like that and realize how long you've been doing this so far. I agree with your comment about it being a community in a community as I met a lot of people through this meme.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your review for Brave New Girl. Ivory and Bone looks interesting. I've also been in a sci-fi mood lately, but I think I'll get a cozy mystery mood next. Nice sci-fi artwork! I hope you had a great week!
