Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.
This week's pick- Swamp
Swamp - a fun topic. I knew urban fantasy had some swamp covers but I found some others I was not expecting- including the recently released River of Teeth which is my clear favorite.

Yay, I was hoping to scroll down and see those Nancy Drew covers. I'm not sure why I remember those so well but as soon as I read "swamp", those popped into my head. Fun topic!
ReplyDeleteThose Nancy Drew covers are the best!
DeleteI think I like River of Teeth and Dead on the Delta the best but I have to admit, those old comic covers are downright awesome. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThose are my favorites too. And the comics are fun!
DeleteI read Dinosaur Planet years ago but don't remember much about it now. I hated the characters in Dead in the Delta and hope to read River of Teeth later this year. Swamp covers are good covers! Eerie, creepy and you think something is lurking out there watching you...
ReplyDeleteI've never read Dinosaur Planet, but clearly I should?!? And River of Teeth looks awesomesauce.
DeleteOh that's a great cover topic!
ReplyDeleteFor What It's Worth
Not bad!
DeleteLove those comic covers. They'd be great pictures to hang on the wall! Did I miss your review of River Of Teeth? That was a wild one. And I like the cover for Red Planet too.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't they though? And no I haven't read River of Teeth yet- looks like you liked it?
DeleteI just finished a swamp one!
ReplyDeleteSwamp books!
DeleteEeek swamps make me think of creepy crawlies! I'm glad there is a distinct lack of them here!
ReplyDeleteYeah Scotland's not known for swamps??
DeleteGreat, another topic I missed even though I have covers lol. You found some great covers though! My faves are Delta and Mossflower.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like both of those too. Curious to see your covers...
DeleteJust finished River of Teeth this weekend! Definitely a good example of a cover with a swamp/marsh - those hippos sure love to wallow!

Ha ha can't wait to read it.
DeleteLooove River of Teeth. I know I am going to end up reading it because it is so freaking weird. They're all quite interesting though, I am impressed that you found so many swamp covers!
ReplyDeleteI don't particularly pay attention to covers but yes, River of Teeth has a gorgeous, very creative cover. Thanks for sharing these goodies, Greg. :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't really think of many swamp covers from the top of my head, but these are great! I also like the River of teeth one!
ReplyDeleteHuh! I never would have figured so many! That's kinda neat. I think I have one that's a werewolves in Florida type thing. Dead on the Delta looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteSwamps make me think Mississippi. I like the cover for Dead on the Delta.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I like swamps that much LOL so I'll go with Delta. It's blue :)
ReplyDeleteI love Mossflower. I think we have that in hardcover. :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be good to have in HC. A lot of those Redwall books actually have pretty good covers if you ask me.
DeleteI agree, River of Teeth has an awesome cover! Everything about that book sounds awesome, tbh. Dead on the Delta looks like the sort of book I'd be reading on a lazy Saturday night in....I may have to check that series out!
ReplyDeleteI love that cover, it's so atmospheric! I wasn't going to read it initially, I just loved the cover, but now I want to read it. And Dead on the Delta does look like a good book to stay in and cozy up, doesn't it?
DeleteGreat choices! I couldn't come up with enough for a swamp post, although there is a Nancy Drew one or two that I can think of! Now I'm thinking I need to go ahead and go see if I can find them. Great picks! I love the Dinosaur Planet cover, even if it does just show all the incorrect theories they used to have about dinosaurs. :-)
ReplyDeleteMossflower is probably my favorite though I like Dinosaur Planet and River of Teeth too. The comic book covers are fantastic! I'm not sure I can think of any swamp covers but they're definitely atmospheric!
ReplyDeleteRiver of Teeth sounds like something I would enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in last week :)
