Sunday Post #193

It rained this week and then it got nice(r) but I still need it to get into the 70's. Still we had lots of sun for the tail end of the week, so it's all good.

I reviewed Missing and I Found You this past week. Both were very good. I've been lucky as I've mentioned that most of my reads have been good so far- 2017 is a good reading year for me. I know I'm going to burn out on the psychological thrillers though at some point, and probably soon- I'm already itching for more fantasy/ SF stuff.

On Netflix I watched Glitch which is an Australian show about people coming back to life. Very similar to the good (and eerie) French show The Returned, but this one was mixed- started out strong but the characters irked me a bit (except for one or two). I like these British and Australian shows though because the seasons are a lot shorter, so they don't drag 'em out.

This week I'll be reviewing Gone Without A Trace and Blood Tide.

  3. Wow I love the image of the girl standing on the rooftop at night, it's so atmospheric. Thanks for sharing :)

Have a great week ahead and I hope you get to read some fantasy soon!

  5. We have had rain the past two days and I am over it!! IT doesn't look great for next week either. I really enjoyed I Found You which made me happy since I didn' love her last book. I love that last picture. Have a great week!!

    1. It rained early in the week but the last few days have been sunny, but still not nice enough. We can't seem to get into the 70's!

  8. I saw The Defenders trailer. I guess that means I need to catch up on all the different shows.

The Glitch sounds a bit like The Returned which I loved! The French version not the US remake.

  10. I really hope it warms up soon. It was so cold today! I had to dig out my sweaters.

I haven't read Lisa Jewell's books yet but I have one of her other ones on my TBR pile.

I need to get caught up on Riverdale. It is an interesting show though I don't like it as much as the other CW shows I watch.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. It's cold here too. Sunny but cold. I liked Girls in the Garden by her more, but this one was good.

Riverdale had a pretty big episode the other night and the finale is this week? I thin it hits Netflix right after the finale airs so if you want to catch it there...

  11. I am laughing SO HARD at 47 Meters Down right now. Like, dying. Because HOW can you make an entire movie about "aw crap, a shark might bite those girls"? You can't. Not a good one, anyway. I mean, they must have girly-screamed about 83 times during that trailer alone. I can't.

But I AM curious about Glitch- even more than before! I want to live in Fox Town, it looks pretty! The Abandoned one reminds me of the atmosphere of a book I read, so I like that! Same with Cave of Goblins- there is this whole rope bridge thing and that is how I pictured it!

I hope it warms up soon- I am kind of over the rain at the cold at the moment too. (There was no such end of the week sun here, womp womp hahah)

    1. I know, right? Ridiculous. And Glitch is one of those shows, imperfect as it was, where I want the second season RIGHT now and have to wait a long time... sigh. Fox Town looks awesome to me, and those other two really jumped out at me! I loved all the torches and the rope bridge... !

  15. We went to see Guardians of the Galaxy this week and I actually thought of you! LOL!!! Our roles are a bit reversed at the moment! I read sci-fi at the moment and not enough psych thrillers. Have a look at my latest review - I think you might like the book: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2017/05/why-you-were-taken-by-jt-lawrence.html

    Have a good week Greg!

  16. Sounds like you had a pretty good week. After a lot of rain we are finally getting some decent days but the nights are still pretty chilly.

Sometimes I like the shorter series but then some times I am like aaah that is it...lol.

Have a great week! My favorite show Longmire has short seasons and I am always bummed when it's over.

  17. Glad to hear you've had an amazing year, Greg. If only could be as lucky as you have been. My reading this year so far has been up and down. I'm trying to be more picky though by only read the books that have been recommended by my fellow bloggers (friends).
I love your pictures, too. They are so gorgeous.
Have a wonderful week and Happy reading, Greg. :)

    1. The Returned is super creepy (the french version- I've heard the American remake sucks) and not gory at all, it's like people come back from the dead but they can talk and carry on, they're not just zombies. But it has a super creepy atmosphere.

  20. Sun is always nice! Ironically, we need rain here! Missing looks really interesting. I haven't watched The Return but I may be checking that one out! Gorgeous art, as always! Have a great week :D

  22. Glitch sounds like one I might get hooked on, and then find myself annoyed with everything by the end. LOL.

Although the themes are different, it reminds me a little of The Leftovers, a show based on Tom Perrotta's book, which went way off track on screen. I liked it at first, but then stopped watching.

    Great images, as usual.

I also loved I Found You. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  23. I am glad you got some sunshine at least! We're expecting more rain today. If I had my way, I'd stay in my PJ's all day and just veg. I do have to venture out though at some point.

I am glad you are having a good reading year! I think my next read will be fantasy or sci-fi too. I'm thinking of picking up a second book to read along side my current read. I think I need something a little faster to balance out the slower one.

I've come to prefer the shorter seasons too. Watching American shows now, I feel like they go on too long. Haha

I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  24. Oh, I love pulp covers! I am always tempted to get those books when I see them in used bookstores.

My thriller mystery reading review pile is pretty high too. I am mixing in YA in between.

    Happy reading.

  25. I'm dying to read Missing. I love everything I've ever read by Armstrong and am looking forward to the conclusion of the Cainsville series later this year - although it will be quite sad. Love the little red paw print (fox print maybe) on the first pic you showed.

  40. Great to hear you are enjoying some of our Aussie shows. I am yet to watch Glitch but will look into it now.

I love psychological thrillers and like you tend to read them in a row. Then I feel the urge to swap back to a genre I am most comfortable with - yours I see is Sci fi/Fantasy. Mine would be Australian rural fiction or something light like romance.

I hope it continues to shine your way weather wise rather than rain!

    Have a great week!

  45. It rained A LOT lately here too and while it was nice yesterday and it's supposed to be nice today, it's calling for tons more rain for the rest of the week...and stuff's already starting to flood around here o.O Anyway, glad it's warmed out there and here too nonetheless, it's encouraging :)

I had NOT seen the trailer for The Defenders but OMG I can't wait for it now :D It's going to be amazing. I guess I need to watch Iron Fist though cause that's the only series I haven't gotten into out of the four. Have you seen it?

  48. It's 7 degrees celsius here and I'm so sad about it, hahaha. I just want the weather to reflect the fact that it's MAY, for crying out loud! Almost all the European and Australian shows on Netflix (and the Scandinavian ones too, now that I think of it) are top quality. I just finished watching The Bletchley Circle and it was soooo good! Not SF/F but a feminist historical mystery show, so definitely up my alley. ;)

  50. Thanks for droppin' by today, Greg. Didn't have a book post this week b/c didn't get much reading done and I've finally got my arse going on sewing. Makin' the husband a Rogue One Christmas stocking. I think we're done with rain here. We had 80+° days and bad allergies. Cooler today, low 70's and tomorrow will be the hottest at around 80 maybe. I miss Chinese food as it's the best in SF. In the burbs there isn't much and nothing much compares. We usually go Korean or sushi.
