Sunday Post #437

Another weekend. I read more (yay). The Echo Wife is a trip. I started a new game this week called Aquamarine.

Last week I asked about DIY afterlife- how you would design your own afterlife. Animals get a lot of love. Jinjer asked what MY afterlife of choice would be. That's a good one- I'm not sure. I've been imagining- again, this is only if I could devise my own- a great river running through a paradise, like Elysium almost?  Someone mentioned discussing plots and books- I think a bookish paradise would be welcomed by many of us! And quite a few mentioned that they didn't really have a set view of the afterlife, or didn't believe in one or want to come back.

  2. Loving the art as usual. A bookish paradise would be great. I won't get time to read all the books I have (especially on Kindle) in my lifetime, so a big eternal library would be amazing. You would get to live many different lives then.

  3. I've never really thought about what the afterlife would look like; I just hope if there is one, it's a peaceful place!

  4. I’m not religious, and I don’t have have a clear idea of the afterlife, but I like to think there is something after that is freeing, kind and peaceful.

Wishing you a great reading week

  6. There are a lot of interesting things happening in Jean "Mœbius" Giraud's artwork. Fun to look at!

  7. I believe there is something beyond our earthly life. Maybe I'm crazy, but I have evidence for it :)

  8. I like the idea of being somewhere like Middle Earth. I'd love to take one of those Lord of the Rings location tours in New Zealand.

  12. Oh yes! A bookish paradise sounds so good!!! Eternity to read all that we want and chat with other booknerds :-)

  13. Amazing artwork, how come I can never find great images like this for my own blog 😂? I don't tend to think much about the afterlife - I have a very poor visual imagination and struggle to create mental images of anything I haven't seen.
Yay for reading a book - what genre is it?

  14. The views in the Middle Earth Journey clip were wonderful. I can't imagine how much time it must have taken for someone to create that!

  15. The artwork you've posted is gorgeous. Some of it kind of reminds me of Breath of the Wild.

I'm also a Christian so I believe in an afterlife. I think it would be hard not to believe in an afterlife, at least for me, because I recently lost my dad in Nov 2020 and my mom has been gone for almost 9 years now. If I didn't have any hope of seeing them again, life wouldn't be worth living.

As far as what I want my afterlife to be like, I'm okay with mostly whatever as long as I get to be with my family and pets. AND, I want to allow a llama and giraffe to mate so they can create a new species called a laffe. Ha!

  16. Books. I need books to feel good, so I guess my afterlife, if I will have one *lol* should have books in it.

  17. Love the low-fi vibe. Oh, the afterlife..I dunno..sometimes, I just want to meet my own characters. Other times, not.

  21. Comfortable, happiness and everyone reading a book

  22. A bookish paradise indeed sounds good. I haven't thought about an afterlife before. The idea seems rather to get into when you think about dying so, I try not to think about either things. Moebius's art are kind of soothing.

    Have a lovely day.

  24. More time to read is always great! And I love the artwork you share every week. Haven't heard of that game before, but then I'm not a big gamer. Just a few things I play. Have a great week!

  30. Lovely artwork! It looks a little retro but anime at the same time. But I'm not an artist so I just feel like I make up words when I try to talk about it!

    Enjoy your week!

  31. A bookish afterlife would be good too.

  32. I love the artwork and that pulp cover looks so cool.

  33. Thank you for sharing the great artwork! Your questions last week sent me down a rabbit hole and got me thinking of all the book cover art that I wish I could step into. I hope you have a great week!

  34. I could definitely deal with a bookish afterlife. :)

  37. Hmm, I should look closer at Ellison.
If I had more time, I think I would really enjoy Aquamarine!
The Arrival picture obviously reminded me of the story Arrival
by Ted Chiang. It's so good, in fact the whole collection of short stories. And I really enjoyed the movie as well, one of my favorite scifi movies. I assume you have read the story or watched the movie. If not: a must!

  40. My choice of paradise would include books and movies...and can we have margaritas? LOL

  41. Very cool art! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great week!

  42. I've been giving paradise a lot more thought, and I think for me it would be in a sleepy little English village by the water. I love books that take place in small English towns, where there's a tight-knit community and just peace and quiet.

  43. I love lo-fi! I would like to come back and live more lives. One time through Earth is just not enough.

  49. Oh I like the ideas for a DIY afterlife, especially mixed with that art! Though I guess a bookish afterlife sounds most perfect to me :)

  50. I missed last week's question! I don't believe in an afterlife, but I do believe that our energy sticks around after we leave. I'd love for that energy to be in a bookstore or library. <3

  51. Interesting that animals were frequently mentioned in the afterlife. Not surprised though! I hope you are having a wonderful week!

  52. I think any pet owner knows how much it sucks when you lose a pet so I think we can all agree that they best be waiting for us in the afterlife. I like to think, even if they don't all know each other, they become friends up there talking about their owner.

  53. The art is so beautiful. I think an ideal afterlife for me would involve reincarnation, and maybe be in a Fantasy world.

  54. Come to think of it, the LOTR video is a good sample for the afterlife. We all know Frodo left Samwise behind for it!
