Sunday Post #433

Thanks to everyone for the awesome comments on last weeks post. Christmas is here! And there have been changes in Hill- land. First of all I opted out of the big family dinner at Zehnders. My mom, who's had her first shot, opted out (wisely) and I decided not to go as well. Too risky. Also in other news I started a new show- Vigil- and I recommend it!

This week I did not post anything. I'll be putting up #5 of my Fandom Mashups Revisited next week though. The usual stuff as well. Fathom episode six is now out! You can find it here. Hope everyone has a great week- and merry Christmas! .

  3. We are gathering tonight (Christmas Eve) and the *only* reason it's happening is because all 10 family members are fully vaccinated. Otherwise, not a chance. Even with everyone vaxxed, I plan on keeping my distance as much as possible. Don't even think about hugging me. LOL Sounds like you (and your mom) are playing it safe and smart. Kudos for that. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Greg!

  4. Is that Zehnders of Frankenmuth? It's been ages since I've been there, but it was so good...

  5. Sorry you're missing the big dinner, but, better to be safe than sorry as they say. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas, Greg!

  6. Yep - Christmas looks way different for us this year, too. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Greg!

  8. Lovely pictures as always! I am so sick of COVID Christmases, but you definitely made the right call! Hope you have a wonderful visit with your mom!

  9. By now you've already had your Christmas Eve dinner, Gorgeous Greg and hope it was tasty. I know you guys had big plans for dinner at the restaurant, but safety is so important for all. I decided to take a page from the Japanese culture of eating Kentucky Fried chicken for Christmas. This will be my first time being by myself, so I'll catch up on reading and movie watching. I'll also watch the Hallmark fireplace with the cats and dogs running around and playing in the festive living room(lol) I still can't believe it will be about 70 degrees here!!!! Where is the snow???? Anywho, I sure hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, and I'm sending lots and lots of hugs, RO

  13. Well, that's great news that mom is getting vaccination. Hope it all goes well for her with little side effects. Merry Christmas to you too!

  14. Wise move, I guess. Maybe next year...if more people can't see the light and protect themselves and the others, let's hope vaccines will improve at least. Merry Christmas!

  15. Merry Christmas, Greg! Have a great week!

  16. Oh, so many goodies in this one! Yes, smart move for you and your mom..although, when I saw you mention the place it made me think of a steakhouse back in Texas. The original back on Highway 67 was the place where the original owners had a shootout and killed each other. Later, there was Zentner's Daughter which does quite well in West Texas. Oddly, one my favorite co-workers have the same last name and they are Hispanic.

    Awesome pulp fiction cover too!

    Merry Christmas!

  20. Sorry the Christmas plans did not work out, maybe 2022 will be the year for all to gather. It sounds like you made a good decision.

We did have (9) of us over and felt comfortable doing so. We do know triple-vaxed people with COVID (mild flu-like symptoms fortunately.) Sadly, we also know a 49 y/old - unvaxed woman who just passed away from the virus. Happy New Year Greg.

  25. Sorry about missing out on the dinner, but it is understandable. I still need to get my booster. Missed out on a chance earlier this fall, but will be looking soon for that. Probably before a weekend since I hear it is knocking people out. Hmm, that Fathom looks interesting. Do you read Steve Alten? He's got a cool new website that will have some web tv series soon. I love his Meg books!

  29. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Greg. Glad you didn´t go to the big gathering. My family didn´t do it either. Have a great new week and happy reading.

  30. I hope you had a nice Christmas, Greg. I am sorry you couldn't go to the family gathering, but given the pandemic, it's understandable. We did have a few people over for Christmas, my parents-in-law and their son who lives with them, and my mom. We kept it simple and had a nice visit. Today was even nicer with the company gone. I actually got in some quality reading time!

I hope you have a good week!

  35. Merry Christmas! Ours was quiet too. I wonder if I'll ever venture out again. I've become quite a recluse during this pandemic. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  37. What a rocky journey we are on Greg with this pandemic, and wise move. You've already had one taste. Take care and see you in 2022!

  38. Very quiet here as well, to keep safe. Nice pictures to go with the season!

  43. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I don't blame you for opting out, we've been staying as secluded as we can as well. Enjoy watching Vigil!

  46. Merry Christmas and Season's Greetings, Greg! I've missed a lot of posts here in the past 1 month, so need to catch up on lots. But before I'm off to do that, wishing you a wonderful 2022 ahead -- loads and loads of fantastic reads, shows and blogposts. :)

  47. Seems like a good idea to opt out of the big gatherings for *hopefully* the last time.

I'm stuck at home in the snow that has turned to ice lol but had a good holiday.

  49. We decided to opt out of the big family gatherings and enjoyed a quiet Christmas too . I saw my mom and sister and that was only because they are both vaxxed and boosted. I hope you had a lovely holiday!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I can understand why you'd op out of a big gathering. Omicron has big spreading like crazy! I'm happy I got my booster shot at the beginning of the month. I didn't have big plans though anyhow. Have a happy new year, Greg!

  51. I think it was good that you opted out of the big family dinner, that did sound really risky. I hope you still had an enjoyable smaller Christmas! I've never heard of Vigil, but yay for finding a great new show!

  52. It's time to say... Happy New Year! :)

  53. Probably a good decision, Greg. We all want to see 2022, hopefully in a better state than its predecessor.

I absolutely love the Peanuts, so you made my day with that lovely GIF.

Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.
