The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Last week was 4th of July and it was pretty nice weather. I had a good reading week - I have 5 books going right now which is something I never do- but nothing was grabbing me and it just happened. Honest. I'm happy to report however that one took off for me and so it's off to the races. I also received some killer book mail this week- 5 (yes 5) ARC's from ALA courtesy of the always awesome Shannon at It Starts At Midnight! Thanks Shannon!! And my giveaway win from For what It's Worth also arrived- a grand spanking new copy of Song of the Current. Needless to say I have some awesome reading ahead. My book mail gets are below under New Arrivals.
Still watching Shetland (awesome) and I started Fortitude on recommendation of I Wish I Lived in a Library. Freaky!
Still watching Shetland (awesome) and I started Fortitude on recommendation of I Wish I Lived in a Library. Freaky!
I reviewed All Systems Red this past week, which was great. I also posted flash fiction- A Hidden Truth- on Monday and I'll have a new one up this Mon as well. This time I'll be finishing up On The Run with Part III- I had several readers ask me what was next after Part II, so here it is. And I'll have my Jon Snow discussion too.
Song of the week
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
NEW ARRIVAL/ UPCOMING REVIEWS:
Awesome finds :)ReplyDelete
Yes, thanks to you Greg, I'm almost finished binging on Orphan Black. Phenomenal program! Wow! You sure went way back with The Three Roads. Makes me wanna break out my old Archie Comics from back in the day. I had no idea that you could find pics like that on Pinterest, and it's very cool! You find some really neat stuff! Happy Saturday and Sunday! Hugs...ROReplyDelete
Ooh I'm glad you're liking Orphan Black. Love that show.Delete
Thank you, hope you're having a great weekend.
If I ever start watchings films and tv series instead of just reading, I do plan to look at Fortitude. I've avoided everything about it so I know virtually nothing about plot but I like the idea of the isolated setting.ReplyDelete
There you go. It's pretty good and I only know about because of another blogger!Delete
I have no idea how you are juggling 5 books. I can only do 1 book and 1 audio at a time. I am glad one finally caught and kept your interest though.ReplyDelete
I never do that many, I'm usually a one book at a time person. Somehow weirdly I started 5 books, and now I gotta juggle 'em!Delete
Your book mail looks awesome! I'm looking forward to your Jon Snow discussion- new GoT next Sunday!! :D Jon's always been one of my favorite characters, even in the books, and I can't wait to see where his arc goes.ReplyDelete
It was a great week for book mail. And yay for Game of thrones! I gotta get back in recapping mode! My Jon discussion will be up Wednesday.Delete
I bought All Systems Red because of your review and hope to be able to read it tomorrow. I'm really in the mood for something different.ReplyDelete
Enjoy all your books!
For What It's Worth
Oh good, hope you love it! I had a lot of fun w/ it!!Delete
Kick ass women with futuristic guns, I love the artwork choices for this week! And the last two pieces are also beautiful.ReplyDelete
~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Thanks! I loved all the art this week, even more than usual!Delete
Okay, DYING at Helena and Kira eating peanut butter and sausage. It seemed so NORMAL until the sausage hahahha. Also, is Helena PREGNANT!? Damnnnn. I won't lie, 5 books at once sounds like a nightmare. I am curious to know which one finally captured your attention! (And, tbh, the ones that didn't hahah.)ReplyDelete
Glad that there will be more flash fiction! I need to know what happens to No Name and Anna and Hamilton ;) And The Three Roads... that looks like a terrible situation. Assuming that the position she finds herself in is the aftermath of the murder, not the passion, anyway. Or both, maybe both. Hope you enjoy all of your books, too! I have a feeling you'll read them before I do, with the exception of ODT!
I know, right? Only helena would do something like that. And yes she is pregnant- sorry! I guess that's a spoiler!!! Okay one of the five was The Collapsing Empire- but I finished and now I think I'm good. NOW I have One Dark Throne and I need to read that- so the other four left are gonna wait.Delete
Tomorrow the flash fiction will be up. And thanks! I'm so glad you're looking forward to it. Yes that is an awkward position, to say the least. :)
And I'm imagining you're done with ODT already and I'm just starting. I need to get my ass moving!!!
Wow. Those are some awesome ARCs, Greg! I don't think you'll have a problem being able to focus on one book now. Love the kick butt gals. We shall rule! LOLReplyDelete
I don't think so! And yes some badass women this week. :)Delete
I have added Shetland to my Netflix queue...maybe I'll get around to it tomorrow.ReplyDelete
I loved Gypsy, with Naomi Watts, and saw all of Season I.
Enjoy those ARCs...I am curious about Song of the Current.
Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Yay! Glad you got some new ARCs to read! And all of these images look so beautiful! Hope you have a great week!ReplyDelete
Here’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
Great art finds as always. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
That is some really happy book mail! I've got a few going right now, too, for much the same reason. Hope your current keeps going great :)ReplyDelete
I always seem to have several books on the go at once, a book for every mood, all the more if no books are grabbing me.ReplyDelete
Engrossed in a good book
oh some interesting new books for you! happy reading!ReplyDelete
Glad you had nice weather for the holiday. We did too. 5 books!! That is a lot at one time. I hate when nothing really grabs your attention. Hope you have a great week!ReplyDelete
I always read AT LEAST 5 books, man xD it's the best way!ReplyDelete
Super glad, yet super jealous about your book mail! Totally awesome.
Awesome book mail this week! I'm dying to read One Dark Throne and Song of the Current :) Hope you enjoy them.ReplyDelete
Have a great week ahead, Greg :)
Amy @ A Magical World Of Words
I love the sound of All System Red - your review was great:). Glad you're having good weather - ours is WONDERFUL (though I'm speaking in a whisper as I don't want to mess up the warm dry spell on account of Wimbledon...). Have a great week, Greg - my Sunday Post - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/sunday-post-9th-july-2017/ReplyDelete
Your bookmail looks awesome! I hope you enjoy them! Going to check on the Ivory and Bone, love the cover of that one. I was having a problem reading also but have finally found my groove...I hope.ReplyDelete
I hope you have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
I just can't wait for the new season of GOT...ReplyDelete
Julie Eshbaugh books look interesting!
I know, only one week? Can't wait!!!Delete
Congrats on all the awesome books you got this week! Glad you have found the book you can really get into. I know exactly how you feel about starting so many books just trying to find the one that will hook you!ReplyDelete
I did start watching Fortitude as the setting looks amazing and it ticks all my boxes but for reasons I can't remember I stopped watching it, then the second series started here and I think I'll do a binge and watch it all back to back.ReplyDelete
That Valerian film looks bonkers!
Have a great week!
Fortitude is a trip, and creepy!! And valerian- can't wait. :)Delete
I finished Shetland and really liked it. It was interesting how the 3 season was just all about one story line. Can't wait for another season as I seen there is 4 currently so Netflix needs to get the new one. :)ReplyDelete
Those books look great! Happy reading!
Week in Review
That's good to know, I still have S3. I didn't know there was a S4? Yay! Love that show.Delete
You have 5 books going on at once? *bows down to you* LOL! I can manage 2, sometimes 3 at once, but it's a struggle. Song of the Current is one I really want to read so I can't wait to see what you think of that one. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
Ha ha I never read that many- it's a matter of me starting too many books and none of them sticking. Although I think I loosened the logjam now. :)Delete
Helena kills me. Now I have had as many as 3 books going (one is usually an audio) but wow five. Are they all different genres? Glad one grabbed you! Have a lovely week Greg.ReplyDelete
Congrats on the new books! I still need to read Three Dark Crowns but I know so many people dying to read the sequel. I am usually reading at least 3 books at a time but lately I've been stuck on some and starting others so it's around 5 books as well. :)ReplyDelete
Congrats on your win and new books! I can't read 5 books at once. OMG. LOLReplyDelete
Hope you have a great week. ~Aleen
Thanks! I normally can't either- it's just too much. :)Delete
It's nice when you find a book you can't put down! Hope the rest of the books are that way. I never used to read more than one book at once but now I prefer it that way. I wonder why that is. I think it may be because I feel like I am jumping through some sort of worm hole or portal. I can go to Hogwarts, or 18th century Scotland, or present day at any time. Ok, enough rambling. Have an amazing week.ReplyDelete
I prefer one book at a time, maybe two at most but rarely. This 5 book thing surprised even me, I just sorta kept starting books! Kinda unusual...Delete
Glad to hear you had nice weather for the 4th. We're still battling a massive heat wave here. It's soooo HOT! It was 114 degrees her yesterday, hotter than Palm Springs was! It's a bit cooler today, only supposed to get to 106 but you can't do anything but stay inside with the air conditioner on or swim in the pool.ReplyDelete
You've had a great book week! 5 books at the same time? I hope you love them all. Great post, Greg! :)
It was nice! And yikes that IS hot! 114?? I'd melt. :)Delete
I think you're right, the AC or the pool would be the best options! I thought it got hot here at times but we don't hit those temps. Hope it cools off a bit for you!
And I know- 5 books? I never do that! Luckily I'm making my way through. :) Have a super week!
Congrats on the books, looks like you have some good reads. Love ther artwork. Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
Shandy Jo @ Geeky Moms R&R
Thanks! Glad you liked the art. :)Delete
I'm a big fan of the pictures and videos you share every week, Greg. Love them. Anyway, enjoy your books. I hope you have a wonderful week. :)ReplyDelete
Thanks, and I appreciate you coming by to check 'em out. :)Delete
OK, now I gotta check out Fortitude. Have a good week.ReplyDelete
Fortitude is super creepy but good!Delete
I am so excited to read One Dark Throne. I absolutely loved Three Dark Crowns, I must be one of the few who didn't see the huge twist coming ^^"ReplyDelete
I am too! I may start it tonight. :)Delete
It sounds like a great week for ARCS! I have a tendency to read several books at one time. Unfortunately, a lot of books get left behind that way.ReplyDelete
It did turn out to be a good ARC week. :)Delete
And yes I've alreadf noticed a few of them are falling by the wayside. I almost never read that many, but luckily I found one that grabbed me and now I'm good to go.
I also started juggling multiple books and usually in different formats (ebook, audio & paperback). But right now I have 2 ebooks, one is an ARC I'm struggling with. Part of me wants to DNF it but I'm sort of still curious about it. So it's been put aside for now. I love the images you found for this week. I can imagine different stories behind each one. I hope you have a great week!ReplyDelete
I ended up with so many in the process because I couldn't find one that grabbed me! Then I managed to finish one and I think I'm back on track.Delete
You're right, some of those images could make for great fiction inspiration. :)
What good looking books. Reading multiples must be going around because I've got 2 going to - and I hate it! I always love looking at the artwork your featured. I am also LOVING this season of Orphan Black and Helena is one of my faves. I'm always amazed that even though all the characters are played by the same great actress, they seem like different people - she's very talented.ReplyDelete
I never read more than one or at most two at a time, so it's very unusual for me! And I love Helena- she's the best!Delete
Shannon is one of the nicest bloggers out there! I wish I could have gone to ALA this time around. I hope you enjoy all of your fancy new books!ReplyDelete
Have a wonderful week, Greg. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
She is! :) And ALA sounds like it was a lot of fun, I agree.Delete
I will be looking for what you think of Wrecked Girls abd Sing Of the Current, I want to read those. You had a lucky streak. You should have played the Lottery, ha ha. Great haul. I will be hopping back around for last week's Flash Fiction and am happy there is more to come! Have a fab week. :)ReplyDelete
I'm looking forward to both of those! I know!Delete
That's some amazing artwork!! I just saw that Dark Matter has new seasons recently, so I'm planning to watch soon! I remember I checked the show out because you wrote about it, and I really liked it, but there weren't a lot of episodes out at the time. Good luck with the 5 books. :DReplyDelete
Great haul! You have some awesome new books lined up. I don't usually have more than one book going at a time but sometime you just have to do it. Have a great week!ReplyDelete
I have three books on the go at the moment and that is challenging - so five! Nice to have such a great book haul this week, always exciting.ReplyDelete
It sounds like a great book hauling week for you Greg! Awesome. I love that ‘The Salt Line’ cover, very pretty. And I heard some great things about ‘A Map For Wrecked Girls’.ReplyDelete
Five books at the same time? Wow!! I just had a discussion post about that this week. I’m happy if I’m reading one book.. I’d love to read at least two.. But I just can’t seem to manage it all that well.
Have a great week and happy reading!
I love the cover of Obsidian and Stars. I've heard good things about the Secret History of Us nd A Map for Wrecked Girls ... so good reading ahead! The Valerian clip was cool. I am SO mad that I'll be out with friends on Sunday and will miss the GoT season opener in real time -- well, I'll have fun with friends & I can catch up on the show, but you know what I mean.ReplyDelete
I really like those book covers - they are new-to-me books, so I will have to check them out. I hope you have a great week!ReplyDelete
What a great mailbox you got this week! They all look good. I just had to watch that clip where Three learns French because I'm fluent in French and I was curious. It was hilarious. By the end he was speaking it better than she was. He almost had no accent. Makes me want to start watching Dark Matter!ReplyDelete
Nice fat mailbox. Enjoy them all and have a good week.ReplyDelete
I have Ivory and Bone on my TBR; I keep forgetting about it but prehistoric is a period I like ever since I had read Jean Auel's series back in the day. Song of the Current sounds good; I like how there's a pirate angle. Have a good Monday.ReplyDelete
I'm so glad you're enjoying Fortitude! We're almost done with the 2nd season and are really liking it though it is creepier and bloodier than the first season. I think Shetland is next on the list. I love the setting for it. Awesome book mail! Song of the Current looks good though I"m strictly basing that on the cover! Have a great week!ReplyDelete
Nice pictures you've curated there! I especially like the last two; they have a sort of Star Wars vibe going on. And I'm glad that at least one of your books really drew you in this week. It's always frustrating to be in a bit of a slump.ReplyDelete
Enjoy your new ARCs. We're in the last few days in our current place. It seems like the work to move will never end. Come see what I'm reading when I'm not packing.ReplyDelete
5 books?! How do you even do that? Lol I mean, I know plenty of people do that, but I am a one book at a time kind of gal :-PReplyDelete
How awesome that Shannon sent you those ARCs! I want to read Satellite, so I'm looking forward to your review of that!
I can't read more than one book at a time I have to say. I have just started watching orphan black this week - do love the show !ReplyDelete
Song Of The Current is on my TBR. I don't think I could read that many different books at once. That's a real talent. Check out my weekly recap at http://www.amethystblue.com/2017/07/bookdate-monday.htmlReplyDelete
Wow so many of your books look awesome right now, especially a Map for Wrecked Girls and The Secret History.ReplyDelete
Congrats on the new ARCs. I love happy mail!
We have both Shetland and Fortitude in the lineup to be watched. Once the Tour is over I think we will be glad to have some interesting shows to watch.
So glad your Fourth of July was great and that you had lots of good reading! I really like your song of the week; I (Mckenzie) love ambient music. Those images are so intriguing and beautiful; I love the futuristic vibes. We can't wait for your Jon Snow discussion! Great post, Greg :)ReplyDelete
~Michele & Mckenzie
Wow, I love all the art!!ReplyDelete
Fortitude.. that's on my list as well! I love the setting and a friend said it's really good - hope you like it as well! Shetland... We have a BBC channel and I think they were showing it there. I really should try out more shows! There are so many good ones around..
"Snacktime with Helena" made me laugh so hard. I need to get back to watching Orphan Black. I dropped off after season two because I had to buy it on iTunes to get it, but it is such a great show.ReplyDelete
5 books on the go at the same time? That sounds a bit extreme but go you! I can't focus on more than two books are a time. I can't keep books straight. I am very jealous of all those ARCs and I can't wait to see your thoughts as a couple of these are on my TBR so definitely need to hear more on them. I hope you have a good week.ReplyDelete
I think I like the last pic, best but that may just be because I'm subconsciously longing for the beach, lol. Seriously I think I like the juxtaposition of normal scene with something futuristic or unexpected in it. Hope you are having a great week!ReplyDelete
I'm so excited for Ivory and Bone, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts. :DReplyDelete
Megan @ http://www.wanderingsofabookbird.blogspot.co.uk
I usually have 2 books going at the same time as I read them on different devices and different times. I am glad to hear you had some nice weather :). That's awesome you won 5 ARC's in a giveaway!ReplyDelete
The Salt Line has an interesting cover. You found some nice pictures as always. I like the cyberpunk ones.
