Sunday Post #149

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Another hot week although it cooled off a bit. Every day was nice though, blue sky- love this weather.  I did some reading this week but not a lot. I took a few days off and then jumped back into my current read. Now I just need to pick out what I'm going to read next. Oh well reader problems.

I reviewed Summer Days and Summer Nights this week and had a discussion of the Gods of a Game of Thrones. It's not too late to weigh in with your thoughts. My TV binging continued with my thoughts on 12 Monkeys (still excellent) and the return of Zoo- is anyone watching that?

The Olympics are coming! Hard to believe it's that time but I'm looking forward to it, I always enjoy watching the Games. Brazil is a beautiful country but some of the reports about water cleanliness are a little alarming, but hopefully Rio can pull it off and have a great Games.

This week is the 4th of July here in the US, the fireworks are already going off all over here. Looks like a beautiful weekend for it.

And I'm listening to...

  1. It has been hot here too but I am happy that the weekend will be clear at least. I am so pumped for the Olympics! I love so many of the events in the summer. The reports coming from there about the water are scary though. Have a great week!

  3. You always find the best pulp art! It's been hot here too though the humidity has decreased which is super nice. You came to mind the other day. I was having trouble sleeping while we were on vacation and finally out of desperation downloaded a sleep app. It's called Game of Drones and is basically a guy recapping Game of Thrones episodes in incredible detail in the calmest softest voice you ever heard. I only made it a couple of minutes before I was out so I didn't hear too much of it but the concept cracked me up and I thought you'd enjoy it! Have a great week!

    1. I'm just glad people like looking at them- it is kinda fun to see what I come up with! Glad the humidity died down- I like it warm but the humidity can be a killer!

That sleep app sounds awesome! There are so many Game of Thrones things out there now, it's amazing. That one sounds great, I'll have to chec kit out. :)

  4. It's been hot here but also rains a lot so there are cooler moments at least (even though the humidity is terrible.) I've been avoiding GOT like the plague until I read A Dance With Dragons. I really need to set aside some time to read it so I can catch up on the show.
    Have a great 4th of July! :)

    1. It cooled off here this week (which was nice), we were getting pretty humid before that! Hope yours eases off a bit... and I know what you mean about GoT. If I wasn't caught up I'd be avoiding it too. I hope you like Dance with Dragons- it's a good one and lots happens there!

  5. We've had a few athletes decide not to go to Rio because of Zika virus. I'm not sure if they're being overly concerned or if there's an increased threat in South America.

I have to admit I don't even watch the Olympics any more though I used to be SO into them!

  8. I'm so excited for the Olympics!!! I just watched another one of the national gymnastics meets leading up to it the other day.

Sounds like you've been having great weather :-) I've been having rain and killer heat, sometimes all in the same day lol.

I like that Warrant Granted picture the best this week :-) But haha, that pulp cover. What a title and tagline.

    1. I am too, love the Games. Hope they go smooth with all this water stuff. I like track/ field and swimming/ diving but I also get into the rowing every 4 years for some reason and strangely look forward to it!

This week has been really nice. Low 80's and sun, I'll take it. :)

That might be my fave too, or one of them. And it reminded me of Kayla lol even though I didn't picture hr quite like that- but I like the "warrant Granted" thing. That's about how she'd operate...

I'm looking forward to the Olympics too. I don't love them as much as I used to as the suspicion of who is taking drugs has tainted it a bit for me. But I know I'll still be glued when it's actually on. My favs are the gymnastics and the athletics.

  12. lol... there's nothing subtle about your pulp cover this week, is there? As ever, the artwork you've uncovered is a joy. I'm in the middle of tennis heaven with Wimbledon - though fed up with the weather. Don't suppose you could send across some of the heat, could you? Maybe swap it with several dozen of the torrential downpours we keep enduring... Have a great week.

  15. It's been pretty hot here but we have had a little rain and today it's pouring. Only thing is is that it will cool it off for that day but it makes the next day so muggy and humid. :(

I am trying to get into The Invisible Library but it's off to a slow start. :( I do hope it gets better, I think it's one that I would do better with listening to than reading so if I can't get into it I might have to try the audio.

    I am curious about Vicarious!

    Happy reading!

  17. I'm super stoked for the Olympics!!! I've been watching all the qualifying and it's awesome!!! That and Wimbledon is going on and I'm in overload :)

My hubs and I haven't watched 12 Monkeys yet (b/c we're watching Olympic stuff, baseball, and tennis) but he asked me the other day: is the girl on the show the Bruce Willis character??? I knew I could ask you :) We LOVED the movie!

    1. Okay here's the thing- I've never actually seen the show (I know lol) so I can't say but I think so- the chick is the virologist and Cole is the time traveler- and Jennifer is the wild card who's crazy (but not really- she has visions)- and she's a hoot. The secret weapon of the show. :) Then in season 2 they flip it a bit and the girl becomes the badass... I think you'll like her.

  18. I'm still giggling because of that pulp cover, Greg! All she wanted was more, and more often, eh?
I love the Olympics, too, but right now I'm enjoying Wimbledon, while the rest of my family are going crazy about the Euro Soccer tournament.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

Hope I get to The Invisible Library, and wonder about your thoughts.

  22. We are looking forward to seeing the Olympics too. It sounds like Brazil has encountered a lot of trouble in preparation. Like you, I hope everything goes smoothly for them once the games are underway. We've caught some of the pre-Olympic trials, although not as many as I might like.

I think you were the reason I decided to give Zoo a try. :-) Hopefully I will finish the first season in the next week or so.

I've been hearing fireworks every night for a week. They are illegal in the city where I live, but it never stops people. There will be a city run firework show tomorrow night, but we're planning to go to a minor league baseball game in the neighboring town to see the fireworks there instead. It should be fun. Otherwise, it will be a quiet day for us.

Love those vintage Star Wars posters. I imagine my husband would too. He really likes the Disneyland vintage posters.

Have a great Fourth of July, Greg, and an even better week!

  27. I love the vintage looking Star Wars posters. I finally found Trust Issues Part 3! I didn't remember seeing it linked in any of your Sunday Posts, at first I thought you hadn't finished it yet, but then on a whim I decided to do a search for it. Please tell me you are not going to leave it there! You need to continue. When (notice I didn't say if) you get a couple more parts done start putting them up on Wattpad. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for your Invisible Library review. The weather has been pretty nice here too. It has been good because the extremes: hot, rainy don't seem to hang around long. 31. I love those Star Wars posters! And speaking of the Olympics and the water - did you hear what recently washed up on one of the beaches where the volleyball matches are going to be held? Because if your answer is not body parts then no you haven't heard yet hahaha! I've reached an age where I am excited by the Olympics...but feel terrible about myself because some 15 year old has just won a gold medal and I still don't have a career in track - but then again I wouldn't trade in for that sort of life at all. Plus it's impressive as hell to watch! So mostly I'm excited :)

Although on second thought I've heard some pretty bad things, so maybe it doesn't surprise me all that much. I do get excited for the Olympics although I agree, I wouldn't want that lifestyle either.

  40. Those vintage Star Wars posters look really cool! And the pulp cover (I have to admit I'm not entirely sure what pulp cover means, although I think I'm getting the idea from your examples :D) made me laugh out loud, so there's that. I have to confess I've never watched the Olympics (though I'm watching the European Football Championship at the moment, so that's something sports related at least?), but I hope that everyone will be safe and there won't be any problems!
