Cover Characteristics Robots

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Robots/ Androids

This week I decided to go with robotic/ android cover art- this is one I've been wanting to do for a while.

Obviously an old school cover but I am intrigued by the robotic arm.

Robopocalypse (Robopocalypse, #1)

This one's just kinda freaky.

Robots and Empire (Robot, #4)

Another older cover

Freak of Nature (IFICS, #1)

I remember seeing this around a year or two ago- always liked this cover.

Fractured Innocence (IFICS #2)

Nice cover  - but my favorite part of this is the title.

Replica

This one is kinda terrifying.

Revolution 19 (Revolution 19, #1)

  1. Nice topic! I half-made a post about ghosts then got lazy and just didn't post anything lol.

I do like the simplicity of that first one, and the third one looks interesting. Not crazy about the second one though. I don't know, it just looks too solemn and plain with no facial expressions or interesting body language even. I like that Robots and Empire one though. And the Freak of Nature covers. I have that first book, I remember getting it for free on Amazon, but I haven't read it. And it does look interesting with the panels on her back. The font looks unprofessional, but I think that one is still my favorite. Revolution 19 is nice too though, and it's got a catchy tagline!

    1. I like that first one a lot- like I said, maybe my favorite. And Robots and Empire is nice, kinda understated. I like the Freak of Nature covers- agree about the font, kinda off, but otherwise... and the second one with her walking down the corridor. Just like it. Weirdly enough I think the font works better on the second one than the first?

Revolution 19 though- I like that one. A lot.

  2. The Robopocalpyse cover kind of freaks me out. Something about the shiny face is the stuff of nightmares! I'd like to give Asimov a try. He's been on my list for a long time but I've never gotten up the motivation to read him. Great topic!

    1. Doesn't it though? I wouldn't want that looking at me! Asimov I think is tricky- I've heard his stuff hasn't aged well and doesn't have a lot of female characters, or doesn't treat them well- but I don't really know, and he is one of those "masters" of science fiction or whatever. I'm not sure if I'll ever read him...

  3. Great post. Some of these covers are truly freaky!

Another of these from the YA side is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. It's on my TBR list (I'll get to it I swear!) and looks so interesting.

Ex-Machina has been on my to watch list but movies have taken a back seat for the past couple of years. Oh well...

    1. Thank you! I had fun w/ this one.

Cinder would be agood choice, didn't think of it. And Ex Machina is good, if you get a chance- the ending is kinda freaky!

  6. I think a lot of these are interesting because they don't make me think of robots. But I do love the cover for Revolution 19. To me it's both pretty and brings the whole cyborg/android/robot idea to life.

  7. the Alex + Ada covers make me think about the tv show Humans. I also like the revolution 19 cover

  8. You can't even tell the comic (or is it a GN?) series is about robots. So creepy if you think about it. The art is definitely interesting (ie. it's good!). I like art so I can see how it would go with the series.

I grew up staring at the Asimov covers all over the house so those are sooooooo familiar. My parents are huge Sci-fi freaks. I won't even get into the argument my dad had about the fact that you can't find the theater version of The Blade Runner anymore.

I still need to see Ex Machina... That's the guy from X-Men and Star Wars I see there, right? I'd watch more movies if I could stop reading... :) Great list!!!

  9. Okay.... and once again I have NEVER heard of any of the books you featured! But together they all do look very cool indeed. And I guess you were drawing pictures of robots on your school desk when you were suppose to pay attention in class hey. I just did my Cover Characteristics http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/07/cover-characteristics-schools.html
