Sunday Post #153
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Another nice summery week. No shortage of sunshine and it's been pretty warm again. We're having a nice summer but it's going quick. Lots of fun stuff going on, I may or may not make it to the Coast Guard festival and the Renaissance festival returns in a few weeks. Hard to believe it's that time of year again. And the Olympics start next week.
This past week I did the Bookish Time Travel Tag and some other stuff - I also reviewed At The Edge of Summer which I won in a Goodreads giveaway, and started The Woman in Cabin 10. Loving that one so far.
Mind Meld the monthly discussion feature at sci-fi blog SFSignal has a new home. Barnes & Noble.com has a science fiction blog as well and they have picked it up. You can find the first post here. I've been a contributor to Mind Meld in the past and I'm happy to see it has a new home.
And I'm listening to...
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
NEW ARRIVAL/ UPCOMING REVIEWS:
BOOKISH LINKS
Here's a fun car chase from the Bond movie For Your Eyes Only. It takes place on Corfu and below it is someone recreating the route. And just to show that the Internet has everything they have here a website that revisits the Bond locations. And nice scenery.

Nice pictures there! the books are new to me! happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hope you have a great week. :)
DeleteI can't believe we're already nearing the end of summer! Winter seems to last forever but the summer always flies by. Probably because I tend to be busier. The Renaissance Festival sounds fun. I hope you get to go. We have one in southern Ohio that I went to as a teen and I keep meaning to go back.
ReplyDeleteThe Jessica Brockmole book looks good. I want to read that one. I hope you like Truly Madly Guilty.
I love the picture of the cat. It looks like it's waiting for you to feed it. :)
I know. I'm looking forward to the Renaissance festival.
DeleteHave a great week!
Summer is going by way too quickly. I am excited for the Olympics though. I am so excited for The Woman in Cabin 10. I am holding out to see if my library gets the audio but I might just borrow the books soon. LOVE your pictures. They are beautiful. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteThe Woman in Cabin 10 is so good. Can't wait for you to read it- it definitely lives up to the hype.
DeleteI'll have to check out the Bond locations website. Sounds fun! I've taken a break from Bond over the last few weeks but I'm looking forward to starting the next book. I'm super jealous that you have Cabin 10! I keep hoping that Imogen Church will read the audio because I loved her on Ware's first book. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun website. I came upon it strivtly by accident and had fun looking around. I do like some of the older Bond movies...
DeleteCabin 10 is great. I think you'll like it.
I love Bond, well the old Bond, more specifically my fellow country man Sean Connery, he is bond to me followed by Roger Moore. Those seaside pics are lovely, I would love to live near water and your cat is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYup, Connery for me too, followed by Moore. The newer ones not so much. :)
DeleteThanks! We're not by the ocean but the Great Lakes are the next best thing.
Great art this week, Greg!
ReplyDeleteYou have a Renaissance festival near you? That's so cool! Do you go dressed up and everything? I was recently very impressed when we visited Castle Days at Bled Castle here in Slovenia, the costumes, the medieval camp, the musicians, the food - it was great. And Kiddo enjoyed it a lot though I think he was still a bit young for it. He still talks about the knights with the helmets and the drums, though. :)
I'm on ep 2 of the current Dark Matter series and it isn't as good as I remember. :( I hope the pace picks up a bit soon!
Have a lovely weekend!
Thanks! We do have a Ren faire nearby- and I do like to dress up. :) I love the whole atmosphere of it, the music. I think I remember you doing a post a while back if it's the same place- I remember the pics were very nice!
DeleteI've been a little underwhelmed with Dark Matter this year, I think S1 was better but hopefully iy will improve and find its rhythym.
That's fantastic that you're having such great summer weather! And your cat is adorable. You should post pictures of her (him?) every week lol.
ReplyDeleteYay Olympics! I keep forgetting how soon they're starting. You've made me realize that I'll have to check the gymnastics schedule and adjust my grocery shopping since I go in the evenings now and won't want to miss anything good.
Have a great week!
It's a him- I actually have 4 cats although one is not doing so well. Older cat and he's having problems. :( This one though is only a year or so old, and you can tell!
DeleteI'm kind of in shock that the Olympics are this week (well end of the week)- it snuck up! And I'm way geeked for it- looking forward to all the events.
Nice pictures and cute kitten. I first heard of Mackinac in a book I once read. I've wanted to go there ever since. It looks like such a beautiful place. Happy reading to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Mackinac is a beautiful place, great spot for a day trip or a weekend. I hope you get a chance to visit!
DeleteThose are really nice pictures! And the artwork is lovely, as always.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Greg! :)
Thank you, I had fun putting this weeks together.
DeleteGreat images! I love the ones of the water, especially. And I am curious about The Woman in Cabin 10.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I love taking pics of the water, and the weather has been so nice this month that it's been good beach opportunities!
DeleteSome gorgeous shots of the ocean there Greg!
ReplyDeleteOur winter is going quickly too. I can't believe it'll be Spring in a month!
I'll be keen to see what you think of The Woman in Cabin 10.
That's actually Lake Michigan, but same difference. :) It might as well be the ocean, except for the freshwater and smaller waves. And I know what you mean- seems just like yesterday we were just starting summer and you were getting the cooldown weather- won't be long now and that'll be changing again!
DeleteI liked Woman in Cabin 10.
Ooo Coast Guard festival. You should go! Beautiful pictures, Greg. Especially kitty. :D
ReplyDeleteI may try to make it over there. Went to a festival last night- fireworks and boat parade. Was pretty nice. :)
DeleteOkay, you may have sunsets BUT my boat race is better - nothing is better than Detroiters getting drunk and sailing yachts from Port Huron ;)
ReplyDeleteOOOOO, and BEST PICTURE EVER!!! Your cat!!!!! Yeah, books and art are nice but the kitty!!! LOVE!!!
Have a nice week... I'm done screaming :D
Ha that's great- I think I remember drunk Detroiters! Greektown at times... but we won't go there. :) And don't the race people go from Mackinac to Port Huron? You must get a lot of yachtage over there...
DeleteThe cats have been crazy lately so I've been snapping pics. Glad you liked! And hope you have a good weekend!
Your Cover Characteristics was fun to look at that's a cool meme! The photography was beautiful and Oh cat!
ReplyDeleteI love Cover characteristics and I've been enjoying taking some snaps! And the cats have been rambunctious lately so they make good subjects. :)
DeleteIt was so hot this week, stepping outside I thought I might burst into flames. The last part of the week rained. I really can't wait for fall! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the kitty, so cute!!!!
I hope you have a wonderful week, Greg! Happy Reading!
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the heat (or the humidity). I'll be happy w/ fall temps wise. Although I'll miss all the fun summer stuff. Glad you liked the cat pic!
DeleteHave fun at Disney!
Even though it's been hot I am not ready for summer to end yet. I hope we have a long fall...lol. I like fall weather but not so much winter. :) Those were some great pics!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading,
Stormi
Friday Memes
I'm not either- the summer needs to go on just with cooler temps. lol and I have no use for winter at this point. :)
DeleteWould love to read The woman in cabin 10 - can't wait for your review. Your beach/sea pictures are lovely. We will be moving to a coastal town at the end of the year and I am getting excited! Here's my Sunday Post: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/07/the-sunday-post-31-july-2016.html
ReplyDeleteIt's good- perhaps a touch implausible at times but aren't all thrillers to some extent? I recommend it though.
DeleteLoving the sunsets. Glad to hear you are enjoying the Woman in Cabin 10. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimba- enjoy yor week (and vacation!!).
DeleteAs ever - I love your pics - the final one with the woman in the green gown is just beautiful. As for your sea views - they are also lovely. I'm ashamed to say that although the sea is just 5 minutes' drive I have hardly been down there this summer. Hope you have a great week:) This is my Sunday Post - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/07/31/sunday-post-31st-july/
ReplyDeleteI loved that one too. The water images are actually Lake Michigan, which I'm not too far from. It's like being by thes ea without salt water and sharks. :)
DeleteHurray for nice weather!! Lovely photos this week! It has been nice and warm (read: hellish) down in Orlando also! Lingering in the Golden Gleam is GORGEOUS! I love seeing what amazing Deviations you'll share each week!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
Thanks!I'll bet it is warm down there- -I don't think I'd do well in the summer. :) Still... disney! And I liked that one too!
DeleteYeah I think it's good, I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteYay! You've won a Goodreads giveaway! I hope I win a giveaway someday! Here’s my Sunday Post!

ReplyDeleteI am trying to get more connected to the SFF community online, so I will definite check out the Mind Meld link.

ReplyDeleteI just started The Woman in Cabin 10 today!
ReplyDeleteJust had a read of your review of At The Edge of Summer and it sounds like it is the kind of read I'd enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wrap up. I love the pics you got this week. I also thoroughly enjoy your take on ASoIaF - when did you start doing these and have you done throughout the entire series?
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting on a Winds of Winter release date and then I will be rereading all the books trying to puzzle through everything again.
Have a look at my #IMWAYR on my Blog and I hope you have a lovely week.
I've been doing my Dance with Dragons readthrough since I think last fall? Basically a chapter or two a week. I should compile them all in one place so they're easily found. But it's been fun to do- examining the book chapter by chapter. Thank you- I'm glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteIf/When you do compile them please let me know. I'll have a read through them all again! :)
DeleteDark Matter's on its way to me. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to my It's Monday.
Those photos are so lovely. What a view! All things school are happening next week, so I may or may not do a lot of things I had planned. Most likely may not. :)
ReplyDeleteSome lovely pictures of the beach! I always enjoy taking those pictures. :) Hope you enjoy your reads and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice and sunny week. I hope you'll enjoy the Olympics, I usually don't watch so I didn't realize it was so close already. Those beach pictures look lovely and your cat is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe Ocean and Golden Gleam picture look great! I like the style. I hope you'll have a great week!
Gorgeous pictures of Summer and the kitty ♥ You know I always love the SFF artwork you share as well. Glad Summer's going nicely on your end. It's been a bit too humid around here for me so I'm looking forwards to a cooler August :) Happy August! xx
ReplyDeleteIt feels like summer is flying by. This will be the first year my daughter will be in a traditional school, and so my life for the next several years will be dictated by the school year. I'm not sure I'm ready. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying The Woman in Cabin 10.
Love the beach photos, and the one of the cat. :-)
Have a great week, Greg.
Your photos are beautiful! And kitty!
ReplyDeleteThose Bond videos were fun - Billy and I were just talking about how we love the old Citroens.
The Woman in Cabin 10 sounds good! I recently read a favorable review on it as well!
I am excited for the Renaissance Fest! We are going with our close friends and their kids this year, and we are dressing the kids all up. Wyatt is kind of an elfin kid and I am going to dress him like one. Lol. I am sure he will love me lots for it when he gets older. :)
I stumbled on that Bond video and knew I had to share it! :) Hope you guys have fun at the Renaissance fest- I always enjoy it there. And yes those are the kind of pictures you take for a graduation board someday lol.
