Sunday Post #153

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Another nice summery week. No shortage of sunshine and it's been pretty warm again. We're having a nice summer but it's going quick. Lots of fun stuff going on, I may or may not make it to the Coast Guard festival and the Renaissance festival returns in a few weeks. Hard to believe it's that time of year again. And the Olympics start next week.

This past week I did the Bookish Time Travel Tag and some other stuff - I also reviewed At The Edge of Summer which I won in a Goodreads giveaway, and started The Woman in Cabin 10. Loving that one so far.

Mind Meld the monthly discussion feature at sci-fi blog SFSignal  has a new home. Barnes & Noble.com has a science fiction blog as well and they have picked it up. You can find the first post here. I've been a contributor to Mind Meld in the past and I'm happy to see it has a new home.

And I'm listening to...

  2. I can't believe we're already nearing the end of summer! Winter seems to last forever but the summer always flies by. Probably because I tend to be busier. The Renaissance Festival sounds fun. I hope you get to go. We have one in southern Ohio that I went to as a teen and I keep meaning to go back.

The Jessica Brockmole book looks good. I want to read that one. I hope you like Truly Madly Guilty.

I love the picture of the cat. It looks like it's waiting for you to feed it. :)

  4. I'll have to check out the Bond locations website. Sounds fun! I've taken a break from Bond over the last few weeks but I'm looking forward to starting the next book. I'm super jealous that you have Cabin 10! I keep hoping that Imogen Church will read the audio because I loved her on Ware's first book. Have a great week!

    1. That's a fun website. I came upon it strivtly by accident and had fun looking around. I do like some of the older Bond movies...

Cabin 10 is great. I think you'll like it.

  5. I love Bond, well the old Bond, more specifically my fellow country man Sean Connery, he is bond to me followed by Roger Moore. Those seaside pics are lovely, I would love to live near water and your cat is adorable!

    1. Yup, Connery for me too, followed by Moore. The newer ones not so much. :)

Thanks! We're not by the ocean but the Great Lakes are the next best thing.

  6. Great art this week, Greg!

You have a Renaissance festival near you? That's so cool! Do you go dressed up and everything? I was recently very impressed when we visited Castle Days at Bled Castle here in Slovenia, the costumes, the medieval camp, the musicians, the food - it was great. And Kiddo enjoyed it a lot though I think he was still a bit young for it. He still talks about the knights with the helmets and the drums, though. :)

I'm on ep 2 of the current Dark Matter series and it isn't as good as I remember. :( I hope the pace picks up a bit soon!

    Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Thanks! We do have a Ren faire nearby- and I do like to dress up. :) I love the whole atmosphere of it, the music. I think I remember you doing a post a while back if it's the same place- I remember the pics were very nice!

I've been a little underwhelmed with Dark Matter this year, I think S1 was better but hopefully iy will improve and find its rhythym.

  7. That's fantastic that you're having such great summer weather! And your cat is adorable. You should post pictures of her (him?) every week lol.

Yay Olympics! I keep forgetting how soon they're starting. You've made me realize that I'll have to check the gymnastics schedule and adjust my grocery shopping since I go in the evenings now and won't want to miss anything good.

    Have a great week!

    1. It's a him- I actually have 4 cats although one is not doing so well. Older cat and he's having problems. :( This one though is only a year or so old, and you can tell!

I'm kind of in shock that the Olympics are this week (well end of the week)- it snuck up! And I'm way geeked for it- looking forward to all the events.

    1. That's actually Lake Michigan, but same difference. :) It might as well be the ocean, except for the freshwater and smaller waves. And I know what you mean- seems just like yesterday we were just starting summer and you were getting the cooldown weather- won't be long now and that'll be changing again!

I liked Woman in Cabin 10.

    1. Ha that's great- I think I remember drunk Detroiters! Greektown at times... but we won't go there. :) And don't the race people go from Mackinac to Port Huron? You must get a lot of yachtage over there...

The cats have been crazy lately so I've been snapping pics. Glad you liked! And hope you have a good weekend!

I'm ashamed to say that although the sea is just 5 minutes' drive I have hardly been down there this summer. 37. It feels like summer is flying by. This will be the first year my daughter will be in a traditional school, and so my life for the next several years will be dictated by the school year. I'm not sure I'm ready. LOL

Those Bond videos were fun - Billy and I were just talking about how we love the old Citroens.

The Woman in Cabin 10 sounds good! I recently read a favorable review on it as well!

I am excited for the Renaissance Fest! We are going with our close friends and their kids this year, and we are dressing the kids all up. Wyatt is kind of an elfin kid and I am going to dress him like one. Lol. I am sure he will love me lots for it when he gets older. :)
