Cover Characteristics

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week  is Piano(s). Not an easy one... can we go back to moons? Seriously where are all the piano covers? And if everyone else has a ton and says "this week was easy" I'm going to be so pissed... :)

I gave up at five this week, I have no idea where I would have found any more. So... which are my faves?

I'm a big fan of the Peanuts books so it was nice to find these purely by accident. I like the first one more, with the whole crew represented (there is a piano there if you look close). And green- I like green.

This cover is just whatever, it's going for that noir look I guess but doesn't do much.

Want is a nice cover, not spectacular but I do like the mask.

I actually like this one a lot, it's simple with her playing the piano and for some reason it works. It would be this one or Peanuts Vol. 5- I'll go with Peanuts for the fun factor.

  1. The Peanuts are still huge around our house so they would be my favorite as well.

  2. I love the Peanuts covers though it did take me a bit to find the piano in the first cover. I like the cover for Murder Me For Nickles. Those pulp covers get me every time!

    1. It took me a minute too to make sure it was there! :) The other thing I noticed was- where all the girls? I didn't realize at first none of the girls are in the picture. Hmm... anyway I know what you mean about the pulp covers, some of them are really fun. I get a good laugh every time I go through them- and those taglines!

  4. I love these posts. I imagine pianos are hard, and I can think of few books that I have read that features pianists. I liked all your picks, and I really liked the noir one that you didnt'.

    1. Thank you, they are fun. I enjoy this meme. :) Pianos were tough, all I kept finding at first were piano instruction guides LOL. Took some digging... glad you like the noir one! Sometimes when I'm having trouble I check out old pulp covers- you never know what you'll find!

  5. Well, you obviously did better than I did with pianos lol. Want is my favorite of the bunch. It's pretty. And then Murder Me for Nickels. Did you read the tagline though? It sounds so... ridiculous lol. Like, he's going to murder people for not using their brand of jukeboxes.

    1. Want's not bad actually. It wasn't my favorite but it has something, with the red hair and the mask and her looking at something. I do like it. And yes- the taglines. they're almost always ridiculous on those old pulps- and sometimes hilarious too. I have no idea what he's talking about there!

  7. I sat out this week because I didn't have many piano covers. But I love the Peanuts cover! You did find some this week at least.

    1. I had a really hard time, I should have sat it out too LOL. I think next week will be easier... and there's some other tough ones coming up too, looks like. I may have to be creative at times... LOL.

  10. Aw this is fun! I like the Peanuts ones too, and the last one- it looks the most... realistic? Non-cheesy? Yes, those things! This is a really hard one though, I don't think I can think of ANY!

  11. This does sound like it would be a tricky topic. Off the top of my head I can't really think of many covers with pianos on them. So I think you did a great job finding the ones you listed. :)
